So Howard has unleashed his "We will make money yet, please don't gut me like a fish and toss my dead body off of the top of the Tokyo Stock Exchange" plan.

We'll see what comes of it, but at this point if Microsoft wasn't currently in the middle of forging it's new battle plans, they could drop the Pro to 100, drop 20 billion or so and buy EA and end this right now. And Nintendo's expanding marketshare means they are going to remain 1st till the end of this gen.

What I don't get is that George Lucas insists that almost all video game material is canon. At this point, just how many Jedi were running around during the original trilogy? According to the movies, it was just the 5 (Luke, Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, Yoda, & the Emperor).

According to the games they were all over the place. *sigh* Just another reason to pretend that nothing outside the original trilogy ever happened, despite Lucas adding Hayden Christensen to the ending of Jedi.

*Disclaimer: I'll still play and enjoy the games. I'm not anti-fun. I just don't think it's necessary to add it to the lore, like most video game tie ins aren't added. Although, I'm not 100% opposed to the KOTOR games being canon.

@iam118: You seem to be missing the part where these Jedi are somehow either Darth Vader's apprentices or fighting for the Rebellion in the background during the original trilogy.

You tell me you honestly watch the original movies now and think to yourself, "Oh, Starkiller is in the background somewhere making imperial fleets crash land on planets while the Rebellion is losing battles to AT-ATs?"

@Vedli: Agreed but they need to be a significant leap in punning media. We cant just slap some lens flare, a bump map, and grey colors on to an old pun and call it next gen punning. We also can't have just two old puns duct taped together.

The question we have to ask is where are the next gen puns?

I wonder what they consider "Network Service" revenue? We can guess, but there is nothing here to define it ... I wonder if they mean revenue from the publisher end or the consumer end.

I'm not sure I buy their advantages ... advantages over what? Other systems? Clearly not all of those work as advantages -- features, but not advantages.

That's the 5 year plan for profit. I was on the 5 year plan in college, and that's usually given a mental thumbs down. But I, too, changed majors after my second year just like Sony recently "changed majors" by releasing a Slim console and dropping the price.

Any game history guru out there who can tell us other consoles that were on the 5 year profit plan? I kinda feel bad for them, but hopefully I'll be helping their pockets by picking one of these up around Christmas.

In that same presentation, Sony showed this slide that I posted. If you look at the third bullet point, it insinuates that PSN might be a paid service in the future.

I guess this is what it means from the slide in the article which states that Sony wanted to grow network service revenue.

I hope it's only limited to services such as Qore but do people even use it? From the link, I am not convinced that all gameplay aspects would be free. They would have to make the premium service attractive for people to subscribe or else the model wont take off.

At this point, I think it's hard for Sony to watch people who are willing to pay for XBL while their option is free.

I hope they succeed as no matter what detractors say, Sony succeeding benefits the consumer.

I really hope they drive towards really improving the Playstation store, especially here in Europe.

I'd also like to see them push for more infrastructure support in PSP games.

@Odb718: If you were playing on dedicated servers, you'd have admins to kick hackers and cheat protection to help make their job a bit easier.

That's opposed to P2p gaming where cheat protection is the only method of defense.

Oh and the PC isn't the only platform with hacks.

This PSP edition seems to retain all the key features from the AC franchise! it actually looks pretty polished, kind of reminds me of Chains of Olympus in terms of graphical quality! It looks like my PSP will finally be getting some major play time in November- GTA, LBP and AC! #assassinscreedbloodlines

@Wolfnave: Right, the so-called new stuffs are just new banners and emblems, perks & guns are 90% the same from CoD4, sure it looks great and I'm playing it diligently too, but innovation ? No. The Demon's Souls online messenger/blood strain system is more innovative. But we all know that small fan base cult games like Demon's Souls is never gonna get GOTY award, maybe if there is some game industry in-house award voted by ppl within the industry, otherwise awards are more based on sales and publicity. Same thing you get rappers as best singer of the year but no jazz singers will grab that. #assassinscreedbloodlines
