Bought Yakuza 3...the sale finally pushed me over the edge, and those fucks at Sega never helped allay my fears. Being able to get the game at just near normal US retail price was totally worth it.
Just to throw this out there, I just tried to order 2 soundtracks that I've been looking at for a while and I didn't get the 20% off at the end of checkout. And yes, I followed all of the rules, in stock, out for longer than 30 days, all of that, with a Visa card.
@cokefan999: Did the product pages show the "VISA 20% OFF" logo? (See here for example: [www.play-asia.com])
If they did and you still didn't get the discount, who knows? Maybe, for some reason (and there can be many), your card wasn't recognised as a Visa? Go figure...
@Antiterra: Nope, you're right. Apparently I've been acting with a large amount of idiocy lately. I just expected it at the confirmation page and didn't know that it'd be on the actual product page if it was 20% off. Man, it hurts to pay $30 for import soundtracks. I think if this worked, it would've been $57 for the order instead of $70. :(
I got to admit, I'm lost when it comes to Play-Asia, can someone answer some questions I have about it. Isn't it true that the games there can only be played by certain regional systems? (I'm American)
Mostly curious on what type of system those games can be played on and whatever other detail you can include. I'm just looking to get myself some Play-Asia action.
@WhaleMenace: Yes, I did notice the product description but it's always a good idea to double check with those in the know about it. I appreciate the answer, been wanting to buy some games without worrying if it would play on my systems or not. Thanks.
Well this offer would be worth while if they shipped REGION FREE PS3 games to Europe.
Honest what do they have against us? We want games off their site. Our money is burning a hole in our pocket. Why do they not want more money?
@Ants_Pai: That include PS3 games? because I'm quite interested in a few just the big "no to EU" warning is kinda off-putting.
I guess it could be worth a shot to try to order something. Just hope if they can't send it they don't charge me.
@deanbmmv: please give a few links where you see that lock. Because I'm from EU and have been buying PS3 games from there. The first item I got from there was the LBP+DualShock3 bundle.
On every game, I get the price in Euro.
Gah, just right now the site went offline and I can't check if consoles/handhelds are locked for me.
@somarix: [www.play-asia.com]
The Irony being they list all games with USD n GBP prices, and or items like the PSN card's you kinda don't want to import them to US :P
@deanbmmv: that page shows no mention of unavailability anywhere. Even if I proceed to check-out.
I fear you're IP-blocked or something.
As for US PSN cards, just get them off ebay - you get the number in a few minutes via email, instead of waiting for a week to get the thing physically shipped lol.
@somarix: Where are you living? I'm getting that message and have for a long time on PlayAsia when Sony products are concerned. It even helped me to discover a new state I didn't know existed - The Tax Haven of Liechtenstein.
@somarix: P.S maybe with a proxy you might see the site in the way I do (cookies and login info might get in the way). [aliveproxy.com]
Just do not send sensitive data through here, it's full of black-hat hackers here...
@somarix: "I fear you're IP-blocked or something."
It has nothing to do with IP-blocking. It's about your shipping address. And yes, PS3 games are unavailable for shipping to Europe (can't say about UK, since Brits are Europeans when and where they feel like it).
@somarix: I use a proxy for certain things but even if the proxy is preventing where you're from, your shipping address isn't going to get you Sony goods.
I can't play 428 and Yakuza 3+Kenzan without knowing Japanese. I'm waiting for Afrika and Demon's Souls to come to America. That leaves Aquanaut's Holiday, Initial D, and Wangan Midnight. Which I'd buy, if I had a Visa card.
Hey man, I just played Yakuza 3 (and kenzan a few months ago) without knowing Japanese. On gamefaqs there is a guide by a guy called "ThePatrick" who translates everything, and he is pretty funny too. I played 3 with the faq one day after finishing yakuza 2 in english and I have to say, I hardly noticed a difference. You need to have a computer open where you play, but if you can manage that, it is well worth it, the game is simply awesome.

It's noted which games have which protections, if any.
08/31/09
It's listed in the product description, but the short answer is:
PS3 and DS have no Region locks. Therefor any ps3 or ds can play any game from anywhere.
Some Xbox games are region free, almost no wii games are. I have no idea about psp though.

Apparently doing so is against Sony's wishes, which is why they don't ship ps3 related items to EU.
You can still buy dvd, blu-ray, guides and such or region free 360 games from em.
