Sure, Japan got them first, but here in North America we get the pink and blue Wii remotes on a day perfect for spreading love through pleasantly colored video game accessories. The two new colors come packaged in Nintendo's unique protective sleeve, which brings to mind intimate toys while also serving as a reminder about safe sex, while the bundled Wii Motion Plus accessory is perfect for reminding your loved one that just swinging it around randomly is only fun until someone loses an eye.

The announcement didn't specifically mention price, but we can assume they'll be in line with the current Wii remote / Motion Plus bundles at $49.99, or $54.99 at GameStop. Where's the love, GameStop?

<![CDATA[PSP-3000 Goes Blossom Pink, Turquoise Green]]> Showing continued support for the older model despite the impending release of the PSP Go, Sony has announced two new colors for the PSP-3000: Blossom Pink and Turquoise Green. Behold their beauty.

The two new models of the PSP-3000 are due out in November, a month after the release of the PSP Go. It should be interesting to see how they sell as compared to the newer, UMD-less version of the hardware. Both Blossom Pink and Turquoise Green will be available for standalone purchase, with the green version also available as part of a LittleBigPlanet PSP bundle.

Thank god I didn't pick up the lavender PSP-3000. I would have felt horrible, what with pink right around the corner.

<![CDATA[Hello Kitty Online Opens Its Heart, Servers For Valentine's Day]]> Sanrio Digital celebrates the season of love this Valentine's Day weekend by opening up the servers of Hello Kitty Online for a public stress test with their four-day Happy Hearts event.

Players who have been desperately trying to login to Hello Kitty Online over the course of the past few months only to be frustrated by the Founder's Club only access restrictions will get some relief this weekend, as Sanrio throws open the servers for a four-day Valentine's Day celebration and stress test, starting on February 14th. Players will be able to participate in special Valentine's Day quests while testing out the revamped user interface and new (and sorely needed) chat filter, which keeps Hello Kitty and her friends from being solicited by Hello Sexual Predators.

To sign up for the test, head over to Sanrio Town and snag a free account.

<![CDATA[Hello Kitty And Friends Talk Hello Kitty Online]]>
Seeing as I was once an unofficial spokesperson for the game, I thought it best if I present you with the first official trailer for Hello Kitty Online. As was expected, there is plenty of pink, an abundance of cute little mouthless critters than somehow manage to talk anyway, and fun for the whole family, whether they like it or not. I especially like the idea of Hello Kitty makeovers for all of the major cities in the world, though Tokyo seems a rather redundant choice.

<![CDATA[Hello Kitty Becomes DS PDA]]> This morning's giant pink wake-up call comes courtesy of European publisher Nobolis. They just announced Hello Kitty Daily for the Nintendo DS, coming to Europe in October. It's not so much a game as it is a personal digital assistant, allowing girls and ridicule-resistant boys to keep track of important dates, keep up with their spending money, take notes, manage contacts, and even calculate numbers, all with that trademark Hello Kitty flair.

It's actually a rather good idea. PDA software is an excellent fit for the DS, plus it would give you an excuse to carry it around everywhere you go. You wouldn't look so odd going into your workplace bathroom with your DS if it doubled as a PDA. Of course you probably wouldn't want to be rocking Hello Kitty at the office, but the point still stands.

Hit the jump for a shot from the title pasted into a pink DS, as required by international law.

<![CDATA[Win Imagine Babies From Girl Gamer Mag]]> Hey girls! The second issue of Future's Girl Gamer - the UK's first Nintendo-centric games magazine for girls - is coming this March, and have they got a contest for you! Within the pages the pink titled magazine with its pink DS sporting cover girl is a giveaway that you can't afford to pass up, considering your unique role in populating the planet. They're giving away 10 copies of Ubisoft's pet baby simulator, Imagine Babies, along with a shiny new and most likely pink DS to play it on. Combine it with the cover story on Cooking Mama, and you'll snag yourself a husband of strong breeding stock in no time! Hit the jump for the cover in all its glory, along with a little more exposition.

I had no clue they were even doing a Girl Gamer magazine in the United Kingdom, much less one with a pink title and a focus on the Nintendo side of gaming. According to a press release issued by the company, "The debut issue, which was distributed in November proved a fantastic success with readers and software publishers alike". Indeed the launch went so smoothly that we weren't even aware it happened. I am assuming they kept us out of the loop in order to secure valuable girl secrets that we men just couldn't handle.

UK Kotakuites can look forward to seeing the latest Girl Gamer packed in alongside other quality girl publications, such as Panini's Bliss aimed at 12-16 year old girls, and Mizz for the 10-14 set. About the right time for ladies to put aside those hopes and dreams and start picking out baby clothes.

I know what some of you are thinking here. Promoting a game about making babies and being a good mother to children at such a young age in a magazine that tosses around more pink that an explosion at the Pepto factory might give girls a jaded view of the potential they have to do great things in the world. Poppycock I say! What bad could possibly come from teaching young girls about raising babies?

<![CDATA[Hello Kitty Xbox Is Totally Real]]> This is not a joke. The Hello Kitty Xbox is apparently so rare that it was only thought to be an April Fool's joke. Turns out it's very real. Limited to 500 units, the console was available only to customers who purchased a US $5000 television at one specific retailer in Singapore. The console came with a Crystal colored Xbox controller and a copy of Hello Kitty Mission Rescue. If Hello Kitty is good enough for her own Dreamcast console, guess an Xbox one doesn't seem too far off. Hit the jump for the unboxing!

<![CDATA[Crecente Plays Football]]> NaturalMotion is currently working on a new next-gen football game called Backbreaker for next year. One of the features of the game will be the ability to assign your own colors, logos and names to your team's players. So, to show off the feature, the folks at NM threw together a little Kotaku team featuring our signature pink and green colors and our own Crecente as Quarterback. I don't know what's funnier, the pink uniforms or the thought of anyone on the Kotaku team (with the possible exception of Fahey and Luke) playing football.

<![CDATA[Collector's Edition DS Up On eBay]]> Over $680 is a little steep for a phat pink DS, but considering that it's number one in a lot of 200 Club Nintendo Hot Summer Contest Nintendo DS's might sweeten the deal. On eBay, the item has been listed as:

Club nintendo Hot Summer Contest Nintendo DS Peach Pink Limited 200! One of the most rarest consoles of Nintendo DS System. Japan's Club Nintendo rewards program is running an exclusive summer contest for its members. By registering a Nintendo DS or specific games, members will be entered into the contest and can pick their preferred prize... This is NUMBER 001. The First One Made!!!

I'm sure by the time the auction ends on June 18th, it will be much more. I just love the logo on the box, but I don't have seven hundred dollars to blow on a box.

<![CDATA[Staying Up Late With Lunar Knights]]>

Yes, I need to recharge my DS Lite. Ryan Payton at Kojima Productions was kind enough to pass along Lunar Knights for me to take a look at. I'm a few hours in, and I'm really digging the title. It's slick and polished, just like what you'd expect from Hideo Kojima and co. Music's great as are the anime cut scenes. Lunar Knights is a dungeon crawler (which I dig) with vampire slayers. The game takes place in the Boktai universe and is the forth installment in the series — A non-sequential one at that, apparently. Out is the solar sensor of previous installments. And in its place, touch screening and whistling into the mic. All in all, solid title that shapes up to be more than a diversion for Kojima while he plucks away at MGS 4 (and for everyone else waiting for it!). People in Kotaku-land pick Lunar Knights up? If so, whaddaya think?

<![CDATA[DS Lite: A Lovey-Dovey Valentine Story]]>

Happy Valentine's Day, humans! And to get us all in the spirit Kotakuite Bahamut writes:

Some people give their women flowers, candles, and jewelry for Valentine's Day. Me being the video-game-loving man I am, I went a slightly different route with my fiancee: flowers, candles, and a certain Nintendo handheld.

Immediately after she opened it, we played Meteos two player, and she handed my ass to me, 2 out of 3. Needless to say, she loves her sexy new DS.

Happy to know we have at least one romantic reader.

The Associated Press reports today that Nintendo announced the recall of 200,000 AC adapters for the DS and DS Lite portables in Japan.

The recall does not affect adapters overseas. Uh, oh. I hope Ashcraft didn't leave his Pink DS Lite plugged in when he went on vacation.

<![CDATA[Sparkly Paris Hilton DS on eBay]]>

If you found yourself drooling over the Swarovski crystal covered pink DS Lite designed by Paris Hilton we posted a few weeks back, then not only is their something wrong with you, but there is also a spark of hope, as one is now up for auction on eBay UK. I am assuming the seller simply had too much taste to keep the item for himself.

He also mentions that only 20 of these were made, a fact that I cannot seem to back up from any source. Everyone knew it was limited edition, but only 20? For an item this spectacularly fabulous? Come on. There's gotta be a warehouse full of these somewhere, and that warehouse needs to be bombed.

I do like how it comes with spare crystals and a glue kit, as if they expect someone to actually play this monstrosity and not lock it in a vault deep underground somewhere so it never hurts anyone again. The auction starts at approximately $670, with a buyout of $1465, depending on which conversion rates you believe. A small price to pay to save humanity from shiny pink doom.

<![CDATA[The Pink PSP Party]]>

Hey, girls! You like pink things, right? Sure, me and Flynn may have rose-colred DS Lites, but we are men and only men by default. The pink stuff, I mean come on, is for girls. And because men and young boys are busy playing with their manly black and navy DS Lites, Sony thought it would be a good idea to target young Japanese women with Pepto pink PSPs. It even roped in bag designer Samantha Thavasa to do, we assume, absolutely nothing. The handheld hit Japan on November 22, and tonight (I write from the future), Sony held a big bash for the pink portable in Roppongi, complete with women. The shindig commemorates new online shopping site WWCITY. Because women not only like pink things, but buying pink things, right? There was also a fashion show with models and Miss Universe hopefuls. That though wasn't for the women, but for Sony dudes who fancy eyeballing the ladies.

<![CDATA[Gamestop Offers Games 4 Girls]]>

How do I miss Eliza, let me count the ways... of course, I was thrilled to see Eliza once again kicking the gaming world in the teeth with her latest post on Game|Life of this truly hideous display of Games 4 Girls.

Apparently the powers that be at Gamestop are still under the delusion that girls actually enjoy playing crap like this. The roster of insipid titles is truly painful to take in with the exception of Cooking Mama, which rocks! I mean look at that line up: Strawberry Shortcake, The Little Mermaid, That's So Raven, My Little Pony and something that I think is Hillary Duff.

Once again, the marketing geniuses that put these things together have completely missed the mark. What they really need for this set up is more pink. If the games won't sell on their own, just throw some pink on them and the girls will come running from miles around.

<![CDATA[The Love and Berry DS Lite Screws Up Ashcraft's Life Further]]>

Yes, I have a pink DS Lite. It's a Noble Pink DS Lite actually, which takes the girly factor out of it. Slightly. Still, I'm on the subway a few days back, killing time on my Lite. A dower housewife gets on the train, sits right next to me. She pulls out her Noble Pink DS Lite and begins studying English. In the reflection of the train window, I could make out the silhouettes of us sitting side-by-side, DS Lites pressed close to our faces.

I wanted to cry.

Sega has given me another reason for me to keep my pink DS Lite at home, locked in a drawer. Say hello to the Love and Berry DS Lite. This portable features the words "LOVE AND BERRY," along with little hearts, stars and heads. It goes on sale in November and increases the odds of me being publicly embarrassed.

<![CDATA[Buy A Pink DS Lite From Target and Help Fight Cancer]]>

Aw, isn't that swell? Target is donating 100% of its profits on the Coral DS Lite to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Why the pink one? Pink is synonymous with girls, girls are synonymous with breasts. Except Ashcraft actually owns a pink DS Lite. Ergo, this is essentially a charity to help save Brian Ashcraft. And if anyone needs saving, it's him. Frankly, we all knew that there was something wrong with him the first time he put "LOL!" in a headline, but we didn't know it was cancer.

Anyway, there's no point in spending any money to save Ashcraft. But the millions of women suffering from or at risk of breast cancer? A good enough reason to go pink at Target, if you were already inclined.

<![CDATA[Black & Pink DS Lites Go Stateside]]>

Ask and ye shall receive... a couple months after the Euros and the Japanese. The Black ("Onyx") and Pink ("Coral") DS Lites are coming to the States on September 13th. Hit the jump for the press release.

NINTENDO LAUNCHES NEW DS LITE COLORS AMID RECORD-BREAKING GAME SALES

Onyx and Coral Pink Follow Sale of 1 Millionth New Super Mario Bros.

REDMOND, Wash., Aug. 24, 2006 - The only thing more fun than new Nintendo DS Lite hardware colors is trying to keep up with the breakneck sales of the software to play on the popular little portable! On Sept. 13, two new colors - Onyx and Coral Pink - join Polar White, which is enjoying its own incredible sales peak and getting noticed everywhere.

The new colors also complement numerous DS games, including New Super Mario Bros. , which has hit the 1 million unit sales mark after just 12 weeks on sale in the United States. That's an average of roughly eight games sold each minute continuously since launch, making it the fastest-selling DS title in the United States for a 12-week period. Overall, DS system and game sales are both up more than 300 percent in July alone.

"Not only are the DS Lite screen and battery life incredible," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "but the new colors just add another element of fun, allowing people to 'personalize' who they are by the color, or colors they pick."

Several other DS games are burning up shopping baskets. Animal Crossing : Wild World already has sold more than 800,000 units, and two brain games - Brain Age : Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day (sold 4 million units worldwide) and Big Brain Academy (nearly 2 million sold to date worldwide) - are part of a phenomenon of people wanting to feel as mentally sharp as possible by playing daily.

The best part for Game Boy Advance owners is Nintendo DS Lite plays their entire library of up to 1,000 Game Boy Advance games in single-player mode.

The Official Nintendo Player's Guide for New Super Mario Bros. is now available at retail. For more information about the game, visit mario.nintendo.com.
