So, your options are to get the release and hope that more people enjoy the game so that future releases sell or to not get the game and to let the franchise die in obscurity.

@jayntampa The PC port, when sent to TV through the 480p Wii would still look pretty close to this. Do a search for some of the PC images -- they weren't high res, unless there there has been a new update I'm unaware of. Check out the jaggies on the PC: [gaygamer.net]
And, I realize it's extremely popular in Japan, but it's obscure in the US -- that's all I was referring to. It's clear that it will continue in it's native land, but it isn't Phoenix Wright there, is it? :) I would love to see it be hugely popular here, I love all the games.

Petz Dogz 2 sold over 450,000 in the US.
Phoenix Wright is well-known among hardcore gamers and people that like niche games from Japan. But, the general gaming public doesn't know the series.

Quality aside - and trust me, the game's worth owning and playing - GameStop usually doesn't put games into those bins if they sold overly well.
I agree with you - Phoenix Wright is a niche title at best (and for anyone who hasn't realized it, we're the niche), and remaking the game or doing a full-blown retail release isn't in Capcom's best interest.

If you're gonna be lazy and just reuse graphics from a portable console, don't be stupid enough to throw in a high-res graphic at one place to show everyone what you COULD'VE done with a little effort. Because it's gonna look crap and not really show you in a favorable light.

If they were to go through the trouble of replacing every single sprite and animation with artwork and retooled animations, might as well be a new game instead of a remake that may not garner enough attention to justify the output.
Besides, the Ace Attorney games have always been about the gameplay. If we wanted to complain about visuals, there should have been some about the series being a port from the beginning for North America.

Aside from that, with all the work put into remaking an old game, the price would increase to create an equilibrium for the labor and quality that was put in. The best analogy I can think of is like when people flip houses. You might think it's a new coat of paint and furnishing, but there's more work to it than new visuals.
I think the point everyone should be thinking about is how this is pretty much more a Game Boy Advance title than a WiiWare title. The difference is there's an added Wiimote function and you don't have a physical GBA cart.

However, I may follow through with Mr. Fluffykins's advice and get an import. The cheapest I found is about $27, and that's definitely cheaper than the asking price for the NA copies.
And I do have a thing for imports. #phoenixwright

That you saw something like the original PW game being sold at it's original retail price is actually a good deal. For quite a while the second hand market was actually above original retail on that one. It was very hard to find. I think Capcom did a second printing, which drove prices down a bit, but... used copies still go pretty darn close to new. #phoenixwright

If you imagine a company with 70+ stores in the UK and only 1 copy of Phoenix wright coming in a month...then the value would be high...(generally not too high)...
Now compare that to a copy of Imagine Fashion Designer which almost half the stores have multiple copies of...(Bargain bin in my book is a game like too human / fifa 09 with sell for around £3/4)
In this case, it doesn't matter really cause the games are both £12...but pricing departments are dynamic, and that's the reason you see games like ICO and SOTC/MGS3:S Selling for £25+ sure it's close to retail (but usually it's worth it)
