Why doesn't it include 'the answer'? That seems a bit strange....anyway, I wonder if it'll be a new episode as the girl character or do you simply pick at the start? I guess they could just switch around the S-links with the three girls in SEES to the three guys.
I stopped being interested in this the minute I saw gameplay footage on some japanese website.
The reason? Some changes that, while understandable, make my PS2 version the superior one.
First, the camera is at an higher angle, so everything appears to be smaller as your POV is from higher up.
But more importantly, it seems like they basically replaced your character with a freakin' cursor. You move it around to point at the people/objects you wish to interact with.
I've seen it during the "life sim" sections, and in the entrance to Tartarus, in the section where you select your party members.
I can't imagine it also being like that when dungeon crawling, but still, I'd rather move around my character than point at things with a cursor.
So yeah, while it's nice to have a new character to choose, it kinda defeats the purpose if you don't see it, now does it?
I'm still wondering if this'll include the "The Answer" section exclusive to FES, though.
@Fieldy: However, it speeds everything up by having a cursor (which is perfect for a hand-held). And I'll gladly take the ability to quick-travel to other locations over hands-in-pockets walking.
Plus, we're getting more social links, characters, and the enhanced battle mechanics from P4.
If this doesn't include The Answer, I can easily see it as a download-able addition later on, perhaps.
@Roc-Thul: Yeah, it definitely fits the handheld format. That's why I said the changes were understandable.
But I won't shell out more cash to re-buy the game if I feel I already own the superior version. I'm just not a big fan of pointing at things, I guess.
More social links, while nice, seems like overkill, though. I barely have enough time to properly grow those I'm already invested into, and the game keeps on throwing new ones at me.
As for the improved battle mechanics, I can't comment since I haven't played P4 yet. I bought it at the same time I bought P3, but I'm not touching it until I'm finished with both Journey and Answer.
@Fieldy: I won't say too much about what P4 improves, but I will say you have the ability to control your party members' actions. Apparently, this is being carried over into P3P.
@Archaotic: The website isnt exactly all that helpful at the moment since its not totally outfitted with info.
Am a bit let down that it seems they are going for a more menu approach instead of the hands on walking around type of experience. Guess its how they want to make it more "portable" to save time and what not.
@Witzbold: They did the same thing with Phantasy Star Universe when they brought it to PSP.
As long as character interaction doesn't suffer, I'm fine with it; Persona 3 didn't exactly have the most...detailed or animated character models after all.
I really want the P1 remake to be successful on the PSP so that Atlus decides to remake P2 as well, ideally fusing both titles into one awesome product.
@Fieldy: Too bad the P1 remake is being put to burn by the fans due to the shit job they did in the reworking of the soundtrack and some sound effects.
@Witzbold: It's breaking my heart as I watch all this... P3 became a cult hit and ever since that moment there hasn't really been a single whiff of the same edgy risk-taking that made P3 work in the first place. It's all just add-on/re-release (FES), more-of-the-same-formula (P4), and now remake after remake, as well as a general hastening of other SMT-universe games in hopes people jump on anything with Jack Frost in it (so far this has worked completely on me).
They absolutely deserve a chance to stop for a while to try to rake in some of the cash they've earned for building a fan base. But what blew me away with P3 was how it did things I just didn't expect from the game. I really hope they can rekindle that sense of wonder and curiosity from me again.
@Dr Drew In The Hizzaaaay: I'm sure we'll get both parts of 2 :) They're just probably using the same team that worked on the port of the original Persona to do it.
@-Thunder-: I think he was saying that more people played 3 -- only the second part of Persona 2 was ever released in English, unless you count the fan translation.
as hilarious as that sounds, I just jizzed in my pants at the fact that we can control our party members now. That was the one thing that kept me from fully enjoying persona 3 the first time
also, does this mean we can date all the guy characters? That'd be a nice change
@zorsmobile: Somehow, I managed to always get lucky on the computer's AI. Especially Akihiko, even before I'd scan the enemy he'd be like "I BET THIS GUY IS WEAK TO ZIO" and boom, he was. And they all spammed healing like a bunch of terrified children. It helped quite a bit.

The beat and all that is great but the singer is quite terrible same with the lyrics.
Am curious if this will also contain FES in it or if its just the updated P3 vanilla.
Either way am gonna pick it up regardless.

Instead of porting over a game I've bought both versions of already, how about porting Persona 2 first? Much appreciated.
A ginormous fan,
