Rare has definitely been hard at work tightening up the graphics o level three. The split screen shot looks a little darker on Xbox Live Arcade, but sharper and darker is better than bright and blurry, isn't it?

<![CDATA[Perfect Dark XBLA: Re-Skinned Elvis Has Entered The Building]]> Three new screenshots for the Xbox Live Arcade remake of Rare's Perfect Dark have surfaced on the developer's website, showing off some re-skinned weapons and a new look for Joanna Dark's Maian pal, Elvis.

4J Studios seems to be doing a fine job of updating the original Perfect Dark to HD for its Xbox Live Arcade incarnation. Elvis is certainly looking healthy, all spruced up and ready to rescue Joanna from the clutches of the vile Skedar. Check out the other two screens below to see how the environments and weapons are coming along.

<![CDATA[Perfect Dark XBLA Looks Sharp, No Expansion Pak Required]]> Rare's Nintendo 64 first-person shooter Perfect Dark is coming to Xbox Live Arcade later this year. Winter, says Microsoft. This is what it looks like.

In a word, Perfect Dark looks sharper, thanks to its high-definition upgrades and "sporting a silkier framerate than ever before." In hard numbers, that translates to 1080p resolution and 60 frames-per-second. The official Xbox.com product page also touts "All the original game features are included plus new Xbox LIVE ones."

First screens of the Xbox Live Arcade port of the 2000 classic await you in the gallery below.

<![CDATA[Perfect Dark Coming To XBLA This Winter]]> Microsoft's Larry Hryb just posted a little note on his Twitter account, saying that the original Perfect Dark - originally released on the N64 - will be out on Xbox Live Arcade later this year.

According to Hryb, it's running in 1080p, and will be out this "Winter".

The news isn't surprising, since it's been heavily rumoured for a while now, but still. It's pleasant.

<![CDATA[Forza 3 Event Spits Out Another Perfect Dark Tease]]> Last week's Xbox 360 event in Sao Paolo, which teased Forza 3, also spun off another rumor tidbit: That pic, sent over to Destructoid, which is the second in-the-wild sighting of Perfect Dark on XBLA.

The image, says D'toid, comes from someone who attended the Brazilian showing and quickly snapped the image. A video of the event, showing Forza 3, was uploaded and quickly taken down.

On the ESRB, Perfect Dark remains rated only for the Nintendo 64, not XBLA.

<![CDATA[Perfect Dark Teased On Xbox LIVE]]> This screenshot from developer Rare shows what appears to be an icon for its Nintendo 64 first-person-shooter Perfect Dark in an Xbox LIVE folder.

That's funny, because the game isn't out on Xbox LIVE as a re-release. It would make sense though — Rare has started bringing other Nintendo 64 classic titles to XBLA. (Case in point: Banjo-Kazooie.)

IGN contacted Microsoft about the image, and the company replied it had "nothing to announce at this time." We are following up with Rare.

<![CDATA[What to Give the Perfect Dark-Obsessed Gamer]]> DSC00148.JPGA laptop sentry gun, of course. Or, well, a lot of pipes and electrical tape, and scrap metal shaped into the notorious weapon. Reader Thomas Masheder and his pal regularly play Perfect Dark for N64 to this day. And when his pal turned 25, Thomas went off to the hardware store in search of parts to build his gun.

Thomas advises that his friend's sentry is guarding his kitchen. Thomas's trash bins (pictured) are protected by the one he made for himself. I wonder if the sentry is sensitive enough to detect roach or raccoon movement.

Good work, Thomas. We've got two more of his pictures after the jump.

<![CDATA[Perfect Dark 2 Rumors Zero In On Internet]]> The sequel to the Nintendo 64 Rare shooter Perfect Dark may be in development now at Rare, if rumors from Indian gaming outlet GameGuru are accurate. The report, while decidedly vague and oddly worded, hints that Perfect Dark 2 may wash the extreme flavor of Perfect Dark Zero out of our mouths sooner than expected, with an announcement due in the second half of 2008.

PD2, which GameGuru write is "probably coming along considerably well", is scarce on concrete details. Talk of a "morality system", dark themes and branching story paths are all we're really about to pick out, but the author cites sources from within Rare, so maybe he's onto something.

I'm just hoping for a return of Wall Guy and that Rare puts the interns on bug testing and coffee fetching, not on character design for the sequel.

<![CDATA[Rare Working on Two DS Titles]]> Welcome Home

According to the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, developer Rare is hard at work on two upcoming DS titles. One of the titles is supposed to be a platormer based on Banjo-Kazooie. Rare back with Nintendo? Looks like that Perfect Dark game for the Revolution rumor is starting to sound more and more believable.
