I saw this coming. Give them time... the tech just got ported to the PS3 so I'm sure there's kinks to be worked out. The great part about it being a downloadable game is that you know everyone who has it also has the internet access to get the fix.

This happened to me right before going into the final boss fight. I started into it; remembered I forgot to do something and headed back to load my game. Oops.

This is the gaming equivalent of blue balls.

I ran into 3 or 4 pretty simple QA problems with this game in the four hours or so it took to play through. You'd think that a game a QA tester could beat the crap out of inside of a day would be a little less problematic. Especially when your target market is gamers who are .... more particular about this kind of stuff.

    Let's see ...

    1) The game graphics/sound settings don't save.

    2) Importing your character from your episode 1 save only imports the clothing.

    3) Missing body parts in the monkey fighting 2d scenes

    4) Cursor can disappear during brain minigame requiring loading a previous save

and oh yeah that whole save situation...

Normally I can't spot 5 egregious bugs within 3 hours of playing a game but PAA:ORSPOD2 really shines in this respect.

@John Laur: Actually, importing gives you Div's Phonothingy, and a bonus set of clothing from the clown man. That's really all there is to import.

Everything else is kind of ubiquitous throughout all playthroughs.

Son of a bitch. Hothead is going to fix those problems first? That's just not fair. It's not like the Ps3 version is special in it's bugs.

The PC version is just as, if not more, loaded with bugs and performance issues.

I played through all of Episode One on my PC with no bugs or problems, at Max settings, because the requirements are quite modest.

So, I start up episode 2 with the same expectations. What do I get? A game that runs great perfectly at certain parts, and then, all of a sudden, will barely run at "Normal Quality" at 640x480. It's not even my rig, it's just random segments of the game do that, coupled with a bunch of other audio and graphical glitches. And, of course, there's the damn useless quicksave. Fix your bugs on all systems, not just the Ps3.

@Ad-hominem: I found it to be the opposite. Buggy episode 1, smooth episode 2. Except the cutscenes had strange color issues that weren't there in Ep. 1.

@Ad-hominem: you see, why i play console as opposed to pc is so i dont have to kepp upgrading my pc as new games come out, they're all made to work on all the ps3's, not just the high end ones!

and they can always fix bugs

@finder39: It's not even the System Requirements. They're identical. And, my rig is decent enough to play Fallout 3 on max settings, so I'm pretty sure it's not me.

The game is just really buggy and poorly coded in some areas(Read: Spider dungeon, final boss), so it lags. That can happen on any system. It just pisses me off that it did happen.

First of all, that picture is epic and perfect for this article.

Second of all, you'd think that with this coming out after the 360 version, they'd have the bugs ironed out. :/

Why exactly is it so hard to port stuff to the PS3? What is it about the hardware that makes it such an ordeal?

    AWESOME
No mind the fact that Europe haven't gotten the first Penny Arcade episode yet.

Don't want to sound like a troll (but in these days, when stating your oppinion usually does, it is quite hard), but at least Microsoft is good at getting releases to happen AROUND the globe.
Y'know, like a company that realizes there's more to the world than the U.S. and Japan.

@ShadowOdin - I just won PJ Eden from the MD competition: You know, you could just get the PC version.

I mean, pretty much any computer than can run Firefox can run the PAA's.

@Ad-hominem: It's not a problem with that particular game.

It's the PSN. High Velocity Bowling came here after half a year of having my PS3, during which it had been avaliable on the american store.

Puzzle Quest arrived here last week after waiting over a month since the american release.

@greeble: I wonder how Crash Commando's physics will compare to Soldat. A number of games have attempted to "copy" that Soldat formula with mixed results, typically due to clunky controls and sluggish action.

@spamspaz: Not necessarily, though the story is serialized and thus a continuation, and the neat thing is that you can take your character and his/her stats from the first episode and continue with that character into the second episode from where you left off. But they do give you the option of beginning a new character.
