More west coast people need to sign up for the PAX train. It was already awesome when it was 24-36 hours. Just think how awesome it'll be when it's 84 hours! #paxeast2010
@Muon: because it would suck? most of the fun comes from being in the same physical space with all those people you chat online with all the time. no, I'm serious. to be able to turn to ten people in the same line and basically be like, "isn't this awesome?" and they all grin back at you.. I live for that.
plus you need to be within a certain distance to be able to draw cookies in Pictochat and have somebody else turn them into testicles. #paxeast2010
@(Starman) AnalysisDialysis: Dude, it takes about 13 hours for you to get to Seattle. It takes me 44 hours. Going to Boston, it takes me 9 hours. Seriously, you should be able to make the trek to West Coast PAX with no problem. Cut the East Coasters some slack. They've been traveling insane distances for years now. #paxeast2010

No Dragon*Con option? It had gaming (computer, board, card and live action) as well as an MMO track and a track talking about online issues. Where's the love?
Wait, wait, Kotaku, you put up like 3 pictures of the same cosplaying Lightning but NO love for the Boss? Or Vyse? Or Heat and Serph?
For shame Kotaku...for shame...
That said, TGS wins...however the one that SHOULD win is Blizzcon (and I HATE Blizzard and WoW with fiery passions..) simply because of the Dyrider (sp?) chick that won the costume contest over there is a thousand badasses. (I don't think you fellas seen it, follow Kaybabakin's link)
Although I SEVERELY doubt these pictures are the best that TGS can muster. For now, TGS wins.
@KayBabakin: Yep, I already mentioned it, but Kotaku never showed the better of the Blizzcon costumes. The Japanese easily beat everyone, except for the die-hard blizzard fans.
@KillerBee: I dunno, you should check out Sakura-con in the US. There's some pretty awesome American cosplayers there, that is if you can get passed the fact that the American girls are all much chunkier than the Japanese girls.
@incubushead: I don't know man. Looking through the Sakura Con images in this link, I am still going to say TGS wins by a large margin. Besides, when you have even one Heath Ledger Joker at your Con, it brings your average WAY down. Also, it should be noted that I don't mind a little chunk on a woman, as long as said chunk is sexy chunk....like Beyonce mmmmmm.
@KillerBee: Japan is numba one in cosplay. the attention to detail in some of the cosplayers is astounding. there are a handful of good US cosplayers....
@KillerBee: Well I like variety, so I'll take the amazing Boomer, TF2 crew, Ratchet, and others from PAX over the gaggle of Square-Enixicity that is TGS.

I am, however, starting to wonder why no one's tried doing something like a "digital convention" #paxeast2010

I dunno, there are some DIE HARD japanese fans...
It all comes down to who wants it bad enough, who has the most skill and talent, both West and East got them in abundance.
