If it is, in point of fact, cell-shaded, why in the fuck did they get all ass-hurt and deny it in the firt place? When will people learn that the digital age is upon us, and you cannot hide shit anylonger. Goddamn it devs, just fess when the jigg is up (eyeing you Sony and the PSP2...).

@mind in rewind: I sure do see a definite black border...ergo, it is cell-shaded or cel-shaded or whatever silly ass term is in style to describe a comic book/anime look.

Some of us were doing alright in our quest to forget that they were making a movie about that game. Thanks for ruining the illusion.

    Looks good to me.

This is like a hot chick who

gets a piercing because she wants

people to think of her as more

interesting than just a hot chick.

    Cel-shaded.

    Cartoon-shaded.

I find this whole ordeal underwhelming. I like the look of it better in the previous trailers. There was nothing at all wrong with it.

Now it's trying to be "different" for all the wrong reasons. The game had a really good premise that made it stand out enough. That is, if Gearbox ever decided to show the freakin' thing to the public. There's virtually no public media available.

@Jandlecack: I don't think it's trying to "be different." I just think they had to make some sacrifices to deliver everything they wanted (most devs overestimated this gen's hardware capabilities) they promised. And this is obviously one of the least painful sacrifices. Sort of like TF2.

Personally, I think that if games looked like cartoons but played like the real thing (more open world, more destructibility, more effects, real physics etc), they would be 10x better.

@excel_excel: When Sly Cooper on PS2 was being developed, Sucker Punch decided to call their style "Toon Shading"...

We saw how long that lasted.

@BlueWizard422: Toon Shading and cel-shading are the same though. It could very well be rotoscoped which probably means that there would be an in-game filter to give it the effect.

@WhatTheFrag: so like some games, do you think we'll be able to turn off that filter and see what it'd look like in a different form? i liked how in legacy of kain (not sure which one) for the PS2, i could use a cheat to make it in wire frame mode, and a couple other modes.
