I would never permanently mark my body because my tastes change too often and I would regret it before the year was up, but I may do something like this in Henna. That would be cool.
@LionheartAce: Ahhhh, word. I had read about them. I guess putting something as obvious as a lightning bolt over your face would be ONE way of making them stand out in the fray. Any of them look a little...more...regal later?
you do realize that by removing the need for packaging and instruction manuals, Sony can offer games at a lower price. the amount of money that is lost on packaging and shipping is enormous. By removing these factors, Sony can sell games at a cheaper price and pass on some of the saving to the gamers. This will also boost sales for the developers since there wont be a second hand market for these games. So, not only do you get a cheaper game in the end, you also support your favorite game companies by boosting the number of copies sold.
I don't think having an empty plastic case with a download voucher satisfies people that "want it for their collection", it's still an empty case. I don't get empty cases for other games. "Look what games I don't have!"
i own both consoles, (well step bro has ps3) and i think that controller looks hideous. on the other hand there are a few controllers that i think are actually bad ass for instance im going to buy the 360 dragon one soon. [www.walmart.com]
does it say how much the game will cost? the original released at $19.99, and seeing how this one will not come with a disc, i certainly hope they shave off $5 or so. seems like the least they can do for using the fans as guinea pigs... also- where is the damn PS3 version of this game? if they're just gonna switch over to digital distribution, why don't they make a higher resolution version available over PSN??? so many questions...
I really doubt the price will drop because of the distribution method. Look at it this way, the companies shareholders would rather pocket the extra money than pass the savings on.
Realistically, making a UMD also costs less than a buck anyway. Across several thousand copies, it adds up, sure, but that's the bottom line: people who want hard copies are being screwed over because shareholders want to pocket Coke change.
It's not just Gamestop, though. I doubt Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy like companies actively encourage a sales model that cuts them out of the loop.
Yeah, in this particular instance, it's available at retail locations, but I'm sure the big boxers see the writing on the wall...the more people are comfortable downloading digital games, the less they will go to the store to buy.
@blizzardjesus: You should. Sony are doing this as a test. If you speak with your money and don't download and enough people do the same, the test will have failed and you won't need to worry about this kind of thing happening again.
Technically they should be doing both UMD and downloadable versions, just like in other regions. I mean, I still would rather save my Memory Stick space for PSOne titles and exclusive PSN titles.

Yet they won't, and have not. Please see

You need to stop thinking of 'pleasing customers' as their ultimate goal and replace that with 'pleasing shareholders.'
Once a pricepoint has been established for something, it's highly unlikely it will come down, regardless of format.
Sure, they could pass the savings on to customers, but I could ride unicorns in space and shit rainbows. Both of those are equally likely to happen.

But not anymore, not like this.
I'll be ordering the UK copy, so I can actually own the product I purchased without it being a nuisance/intangible.

I love not taking all people into consideration.
The world is such an asshole.

I agree; just like with movies, music, and books, it's nice to have options.
