This is her latest work, and yes, it's GTA IV, complete with cute little paper Niko, cute little paper buildings and cute little train whizzing by on cute little paper tracks. Should bring a much-needed pinch of levity to GTA IV's murder n' drugs-heavy stew.

<![CDATA[ Portal Turret Papercraft ]]> Confession: I've never actually assembled one of the papercraft printouts—I did glue together about half a robot once before becoming violently ill with laziness—but I'm almost considering taking a go at these Portal turrets.

Confession 2:
By "considering" making these turrets, I really mean "lightly toying with the idea."

Confession 3
: By "lightly toying with the idea," I really mean there's no way in hell this is happening. I don't even have paper, glue or anything. Right now I'm typing on a pile of rocks fashioned into a QWERTY arrangement. I have no clue if you want even read this.

<![CDATA[ Papercraft: Dragon Quest Mimic ]]> dragon-quest-mimic-papercraft.jpg It's been a while since our last papercraft and given the slow post GDC weekend I figured it would be a good time to pull out some cardstock and get our craft on. This week's offering comes from that bastion of papercraftery, Paperkraft.net. The model is of a Mimic chest from Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. These feisty little guys like to disguise themselves as treasure chests and when you go to open them, they launch their attack. This is a fairly simple model for those of you just getting started in the fine art papercraft. For our more experienced crafters, you might try these Chromehound models.

An awesomely decorated cupcake table (above), Mario and Luigi papercraft favors, homemade Boo and Kirby pinatas, Mario and Luigi hats, a Yoshi Egg Hunt and a tastefully and detailed decorated back yard. If only cool stuff like that had been available when we were kids we might have been spared the horrors of party clowns.

<![CDATA[ The Cutest Silent Hill Papercraft ]]> From Tubbypaws who brought you such memorable paper models as The Cutest Portal Papercraft, comes the Cutest Silent Hill Papercraft. It features Officer Cybil Bennet about to have a run in with one Silent Hill's ubiquitous nurses. The artist describes it as:

A blocky 3D paper fun model tribute to the foggy fog game, the second one, the one with the pillow.

I love this model (especially the flashlight light on the floor...genius touch) and will be putting it together for my desk, but if Tubbypaws would create a little blocky Pyramid Head add-on (sold separately), this would be about the greatest papercraft ever made.

<![CDATA[ Papercraft: Master Chief ]]>
It's been a while since I posted a good papercraft and this one definitely deserves the spotlight. Artist (and presumably Halo fan) Mike McDermott created and put together this really amazing Master Chief papercraft model using PePaKuRa, a program that creates paper model patterns from 3D model information.
He stands an impressive 13" tall and is made up of 42 pieces. Not a model for the faint of heart! You can download instructions and patterns on Mike's DeviantArt page. Now you'll have something to do until the game comes out. (Note: This is not part of the Halo 3 hype machine but merely a really excellent papercraft)

I've always liked the little scale models of machinery and weaponry from games, but my crafting prowess is confined to embroidery and quilting. Perhaps if any Kotakuites make the effort to put this one together, you can let us know how it turns out.

<![CDATA[ Papercraft: Cloud's Shoulder Armor Lion ]]>

Today's papercraft is a bit esoteric, but still kind of cool nonetheless and it's simple to put together! Today's offering is the lion head found on Cloud's shoulder armor in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children by papercraft guru Chamoo232. all the pieces reside on on sheet of paper and should be easy enough for even beginner papercrafters to take on. If it doesn't work for you on a Final Fantasy level, you can always use it as a decorative doorknocker on your paper mansion.

Random papercraft tip: Always use a ruler and an Xacto knife to score your paper before folding it. Just don't cut too deep!

Paperkraft.net points us to Court-Records.net where they have posted this great Phoenix Wright papercraft model. Also available are models of Mia Fey and everyone's favorite frilly collar wearing attorney, Edgeworth. All three models look fairly easy to put together with the possible exception of Phoenix's trademark spiky do. Just be careful you don't lop off a few spikes while your cutting him out. I particularly like the "Objection!" word balloon that accompanies it. Nice touch! Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the Court-Records page to find the models.

If you've tired of dying Easter Eggs but still feeling the urge to be crafty, I've got a great papercraft for you. Today's offering is Sophitia from the Soul Edge/Soul Calibur series. This is a fan made papercraft by rokunoya and Sophitia's look here is very anime style. My only gripe is that the scoring lines are on the outside and there is no non score line version available, but then again, that's why we have Photoshop. Still, lines or no lines, this is a stellar model. Enjoy!

From Chamoo232, the creator of last week's awesome Pyramid Head paper model, comes another terrific piece in the form of ViVi from Final Fantasy IX. The model comes on three separate pages and Chamoo232 estimates it will take about seven or eight hours to complete. ViVi stands six inches tall and is incredibly detailed for a paper model. Chamoo232 is quite adept at making these and I look forward to seeing more from her.

Note: Chamoo hosts her patterns on Rapidshare which can be difficult to download from at times. Be patient and you should be able to get it eventually.

Ever since I brought the video game papercraft feature back from the grave, I've been getting a lot of links from readers to some terrific pieces. More papercraft goodness for your weekend craftyness! I've got a terrific one for you today although unlike last weeks Nintendo Zapper, this one is a mite more complicated. I wish there was a larger picture of it all put together, but unfortunately, this was all I could find.

A little tip to the papercraft newbs out there: Always print your papercraft on cardstock. Its much easier to fold and holds it's shape better. It also is less likely to turn into a crumpled wad when an overenthusiastic friend grabs it and screams "Oh my god, that's the most awesome Link statue ever...oops!"

<![CDATA[ Papercraft: Bahamut ]]>

I was pretty impressed by the Wolf Link papercraft, but then Kotakuite Jane sent me a link to this one that really knocked me over. This is Bahamut, and for those of you who are not Final Fantasy literate, he is a summon creature who has made an appearance in almost every Final Fantasy game (Ok, so I didn't know it either, I had to look it up).

The model file doesn't come with any instructions and you have to have the Asian/European language pack installed on your Acrobat Reader to open it. I downloaded it and it seemed pretty easy to figure out and not too difficult to put together. Ron over at Paperkraft.net has posted a Flickr gallery with a bunch of pics of this bad boy that you can sort of use as a guide. The Moogle model he's got with it here is really great too. (Moogle not included.)

If anybody out there has the gumption to put this thing together, definitely send us some snapshots, the ones on the Flickr Gallery are a little dark. I'm always on the lookout for these guys, so if you happen to run across any particularly good papercraft models that you'd like to see posted here, drop me an email with a link at flynn@kotaku.com.

<![CDATA[ PS3 and Wii Sizes Contrasted in Cardboard ]]>

Seeing these pictures of a papercraft Wii next to a papercraft PS3 is the final nail in the coffin: I'm not buying a PS3. I know I've said that before, but there were certain factors that could have changed my mind. Winning the lottery was one; Sony releasing an interactive Fleshlight peripheral was another.

But jeezum crowe, would you just look at that thing? It's bigger than a lunar buggy. The only way I can even imagine fitting that into my living room is by jettisoning my couch. So unless Sony releases an upholstered model that I can actually sit on, I'm going to have to pass. Not because of any prejudice against Sony... goodness, no! Obviously, they've made all the right moves this generation. It's purely an issue of Feng Shui.

The Wii, on the other hand? Fruity name aside... DAY ONE.
