Is this based on an old version or is it a new game? because the screenshot looks pretty crappy. I'm pretty sure Outrun 2 for the original xbox had a lot better environments, and it obviously doesn't look like the original.
Wow, been waiting for Lode Runner forever; I still hadn't heard a release date so to have it all of a sudden coming out in a week or two is awesome news. Here's hoping it's actually good of course.
Probably picking up OutRun too, assuming the demo doesn't suck. I put so many quarters in the original in the arcade.
@the-hypnotoad: I'm more hyped for Lode Runner, too. Maybe it's just me, but this XBLA Outrun has looked pretty disappointing in screenshots with the fuzzy textures and lack of detail. I want to support Sega's release but also can't imagine enjoying this neutered XBLA title more than the other two Xbox Outrun games.
@twinturbo2: Same as we've been buying crappy emulated ROM rehashes of Sonic year after year hoping to see a new Sonic game in the same mold? Sega just seems disinterested in Daytona USA for some reason despite being such a wildly successful arcade game. Hell, Daytona 2 itself is now over a decade old.
@twinturbo2: Nile Adventure is a pain because you not only have to race the perfect race, but you're also at the mercy of the pecking order for how fast the CPU finishes the course. That coupled with the load time of the Dreamcast port is a recipe for torture unlike any other.
@TheContender: lol, are there really that many star visible in the sky from earth? i dont think there ever was, especially not in a town with all those lights and cars racing around all the time.
I've officially given up on this generation of games. Literally all the games I want are only available online, and most of them not in this territory anyway. So, thanks for nothing guys. And too bad you don't want my money.
@HueyFreeman: why do you care if i'm bummed about the shitty "exclusivity" arrangement? the game is finished, and it's coming out multi-platform in every other country. i don't like the xbox controller, i have way more friends on PSN than i do on LIVE and i also hate the shitty points system of currency on LIVE instead of just paying the price of the game on PSN. it's very anti-consumer. Stop defending Microsoft.
@Kobun: i already have that game on my preferred system. Valkyria Chronicles was never going to come out on the 360. if it was going to be exclusive to 360- then i would already own it for the 360 instead. the difference is that this game is finished. it's coming out on both platforms- and it was even announced for both PSN and LIVE. and then, just recently- Microsoft paid SEGA to not release it on PSN in North America only. i'm not complaining about not having exclusive Microsoft titles available on PS3 (that's why i bought an Xbox 360) but this kind of deal just sours my opinion of all parties involved. it doesn't promote the game being released to as many fans as possible. it just promotes Microsoft flashing it's money around to spite the competition- they aren't even going to profit from this. i just think it's lame.
@laser beams: Valkyria was developed initially as a 360 game you know. There's still the possibility albeit a remote one that the game may wind up back on the 360 in the future (doubt it myself though). Likewise, yes, forced exclusivity deals stink, but given that it's been in practice since Nintendo's strong arming developers in the 8-bit days and Sony doing the same in the 32-bit era, I don't see any sign of it letting up.
@Bokusatsu_Tenshi: I've always had a soft spot for the Genesis version of OutRunners. The music just had more kick in my opinion; in fact I preferred it to the Arcade version (System 32).
I have to say, I'm rather disappointed they removed the hilarious crashes and turned it in to bumper cars. Still a purchase either way.
@keyrat: I'm wondering how big a download it'll be given those HD textures will take up more room. I'm hoping that the mostly barren screenshots are just reflective of the longer straightaway paths, but I'd think we'd being seeing some more impressive shots or video by now.
You're stupid. Burnout is a full fledged AAA title made by EA. Outrun is a arcade title made by Sega for a niche market. That said, I still would pay $30 for Outrun before I would for "Burnout" Paradise( which isn't even burnout if you look at the roots)
Cheese and whine? Whaaambulance? Burger and cries?
Burnout Paradise is an evolution of the game. That's like saying Mario 64 isn't Mario because it's not 2D. I'm pretty sure that Critereon gets to decide if their game is called Burnout or not. Not you.
@Revenge_of_Nekojin: Mario 64 isn't Mario because it's gameplay and design have little in common with the previous games besides its cast.
You're also missing the point of comparing a full fledge disc release to a small downloadable arcade game is a bit silly, let alone that each games is vastly differing styles of racers. I myself will avoid Burnout but will likely pick up Outrun, but that's no mark on any lack of quality with Burnout.

DarthSol from Sumo Digital posts on the Gamefaqs Outrun board. He's really nice. You can always ask him. :)

Only neutered part of it is 10 cars and the original 15 tracks, but I wouldn't be shocked to see additional downloads.
