The game was supposed to be out September 25th, but Konami said it held the game back "to eradicate bugs and improve the quality even more." Be sure to check out our boob shootin' impressions, complete with boob shootin'.

<![CDATA[Otomedius Gorgeous! Our TGS Boob Shootin' Fix]]> Otomedius, Konami's attempt to lure the masses back to Gradius-style sidescrolling shooting, was on hand at this week's Tokyo Game Show, coming home as Otomedius Gorgeous! for the Xbox 360. What Otomedius Gorgeous! brings to the table, a concept only briefly explored in titles like Parodius and Sexy Parodius, is boobs. Impossibly perky, voluminous cartoon boobs.

Otomedius Gorgeous! is part of the cute-em-up sub-genre, full of missile launching penguins, deadly flying fish, super-deformed space ships and, most relevant to gamers' interests, the adorable anime girls who pilot each ship.

Anyone familiar with the Gradius series will feel right at home with Otomedius. Simply collect power ups dropped by enemies to purchase upgrades for your ship-girl. These include speed boosts, lasers, missiles, double shots, ripple shots and the satellites that follow your ship known as Options.

Otomedius Gorgeous! lets you choose your ship's weapons load out, based on which character you choose — the TGS version had about a half-dozen — then cuts you loose to scroll right and shoot whatever is in your way. The game's cup runneth over with series in-jokes and impossibly cute situations, with Gorgeous!'s difficulty more closely matching its content than that of games like Gradius V.

And while Otomedius looks nice, it's not as graphically impressive as Gradius V was on the PlayStation 2, mostly due to its visual simplicity. The demo we played didn't take advantage of the widescreen displays on hand, with bars on the right and left occupying the extra space. The game moves at a smooth clip, except when screen-filling boss explosions intentionally slow down the action.

We didn't get a chance to go hands-on with two important features: three person multiplayer and the proprietary arcade stick with touchscreen controls. It appears that for those using a stock Xbox 360 pad, you'll use the right analog stick to replicate what the touchscreen did in the arcade version.

If Otomedius Gorgeous!'s aesthetic gets you hot and bothered and slightly derivative Gradius gameplay is cool with you, by all means, check it out. If you have an import Xbox 360 that is, and the inappropriately upper end price of the thing doesn't turn you off.

There's no word yet from Konami on whether the game will come stateside. Given Konami USA's import track record, though, we're not holding out hope here.

<![CDATA[Konami's Boobs + Gradius Xbox 360 Shooter Delayed!]]> The Xbox 360 port of Konami's arcade boobs + Gradius side-scrolling shooting game Otomedius G: Gorgeous has been pushed back. The game was originally slated for release on September 25th, but the company announced that it holding back the game. The reason? "To eradicate bugs and improve the quality even more," Konami stated. No other release date was given.

<![CDATA[Konami Boob Shooter Stick Lets Players Touch]]> Konami arcade shooter Otomedius features a touch screen and traditional joystick/button interface. How the heck is that going to work on the Xbox 360 version? Well! Konami has teamed up with Japanese peripheral maker Hori to offer a solution: The Hyper Stick Pro - Otomedius Gorgeous Version. The specific stick features a touch pad, making it possible to recreate the arcade Otomedius experience at home. Bundle with Otomedius Gorgeous and character badges, the Hyper Stick Pro - Otomedius Gorgeous Version will go on sale September 25th for around ¥27,000 (US$255). So subtract the $60 or the $70 that the game will retail and remember touching doesn't come cheap!

<![CDATA[Otomedius Gorgeous Trailer Loaded With Shooting, Boobs]]> Did you know? Otomedius Gorgeous is coming to the Xbox 360 this September... in Japan. No word yet on a North American release, but we've dispatched word to Konami USA and await the carrier pigeon's safe return. Still, if you're in the area sometime after its release or are in possession of Microsoft hardware from the region, perhaps this will interest you. If not, you might simply be interested in "moe" anime gals piloting space ships. At the very least, you'll get a sneak peek at the extra modes contained in the home version.

<![CDATA[Otomedius Gets Gorgeous Xbox 360 Release]]> Konami's cleavage-heavy entry in the Gradius spin-off series is coming to the Xbox 360, you know that. What was known as Otomedius in arcades will come home as Otomedius Gorgeous on September 25 for 6980 yen. That yen pricing obviously means this is only for Japan right now.

The Xbox 360 port will feature three-player coop, the ability to upload and download replay data via Xbox Live, and a versus mode that lets the Otomedius girls take on bosses from previous Konami games. This is unconfirmed, but we hear that the polygonal boobs will be even more spectacular for the home version. Clearly Konami is going all out.

We're currently bugging Konami about a Western release and will be knocked over with a feather should they even respond to our e-mails.

<![CDATA[Gradius + Boobs For Xbox 360 Confirmed]]> Well, looks like Konami's site was right. (Funny how that works!) Konami's Gradius plus boobs side scroller shooter Otomedius is bound for the Xbox 360. Called Otomedius G, there's no release date set as of yet, and we're pretty sure it won't cost US$645,316.71, tax not included. So what we didn't know? The "G" stands for "gorgeous" — a word Japanese folks typically use to describe luxurious things. If you live in Japan and haven't seen Otomedius, you really should. It's a pretty game that uses a touch screen and is packed with important shmup elements like, well, shooting and, um, touch-screen boob touching. Wonder how Konami will work that in on the Xbox 360 version... DS port anyone?

<![CDATA[The Otomedius Busty Maid Toys Won't Stop]]> When Konami of Japan announced Otomedius, we quickly realized what it was up to. Konami had little interest in trying to revitalize the shrinking arcade shmup scene or looking in a new direction for the Gradius and Parodius series. No, they wanted to bring more boobs into the Konami family and shill loads of Otomedius toys. And they're making good on it again, with new redemption prizes in the form of 14cm tall toys and, yes, smaller than life-sized inflatable versions of the busty shooter girls. You're either shaking your head, sighing with defeat or whipping our your credit card again, I'm sure—it's been a big week for plastic video game girls.

The current lot of goods also includes the "multiple movable system" action figures and a digital manga series featuring the maid-ship ladies of Otomedius. We don't expect it to stop any time soon.

<![CDATA[Otomedius Gets Obligatory Action Figures]]> Konami's arcade shooter Otomedius—taking the best of Parodius, Gradius, tiny skirts and hefty cleavage—is, unsurprisingly, a great opportunity for the company to cash in on the game's titillating space maidens. From the day it was announced, it's been clear that Konami's arcade division is marketing to the loins of Japanese otaku. That's why news of a pair of Otomedius figures doesn't come as a surprise. What does is that they don't look that good, failing to properly capitalize on the oversexed character designs that will garner the most attention.

Still, if you're into this sort of thing, they're shipping in January of next year and run 4,725 yen each. Check with your favorite importer to secure 'em.

<![CDATA[Otomedius Adds Boob-Free Character]]> The official site for Konami's boob-filled Gradius-esque arcade shmup has been recently updated, revealing Otomedius' third playable character, one that is distressingly boob-free. Emon-5 joins the pink and blue haired maidens of Otomedius for what appears to be some very relaxed shooting. New gameplay movies have been added to the site, but they're of the popular postage-stamp size that Japanese corporations are so unusually obsessed with.

A brief update, yes, and disheartening in its lack of anime girl cleavage. Note that Konami promises more updates "comming soon" so keep your eyes peeled and huggable pillows within easy humping distance.

<![CDATA[New Shots, Details On Otomedius]]> Konami's boob-filled, super cute shooter Otomedius—announced at the AOU 2007 expo in Japan—has been quietly testing at various locations in Japan. The game, which uses a combination of traditional controls and a touch screen, makes plenty of nods to the long running Gradius and Parodius series, capitalizing on the maiden craze that still holds otaku in its grasp. Gpara has tons of new screenshots and character artwork of the game, including its two shipmaiden heroines and its first two bosses L.B. Gopher and (wait for it) TiTi XIV.

The game is scheduled for a 2007 release in Japan, but I have a hard time believing that it will make its way out of Japan. It's weird and Konami USA avoids weird like the plague. It's unknown what hardware platform Otomedius is running on, but it takes advantage of the e-AMUSEMENT system which adds network support to arcade games.

We'll keep you update on any and all breaking Otomedius news. Believe me.

<![CDATA[Clip: Hands On With Konami's Gradisu/Boob Shooter]]>

Arcade play testing has become for Konami's moe-meets-Gradius boob bullet hell Otomedius. Here's footage of the game on "expert", which I hadn't seen before. It looks like a solid shooter from Konami, but that touch screen is a definite turn-off. Just imagine how smudgy with finger oil it gets. And during Japan's humid summer? GROSS.

<![CDATA[Boobs + Gradius = Otomedius]]> Konami has come up with a can't lose formula for their next arcade shmup, Otomedius. Take moe girls, glisteningly wide-eyed, outfit them with maid uniform-cum-spaceship gear, add ample cleavage and throw them into classic Gradius gameplay and you've got a winner on your hands.

While Gradius fans will feel right at home, Parodius afficionados will feel even more at ease as the upcoming arcade shooter eschews serious space battles for cutesy settings, en vogue coin collecting and battles against pengiuns, crabs, and flying fish. End stages look to feature showdowns against busty bosses while screen clearing attacks add strategy. Otomedius also takes advantage of Konami's e-AMUSEMENT system for save data and internet rankings.

Let's hope that after Konami bleeds the Otomedius well dry with capsule toys, garage kits and hump pillows, they'll give us a home console port.

<![CDATA[First Silent Hill Arcade Image! It's Sucky!]]>

Yup, the first pic of The Silent Hill arcade shooter officially blows chunks. Besides not being able to see any gameplay, the pic's blurry. And WHAT IS UP WITH THAT CURTAIN?! Gross.

Though, Konami's Otomedius looks pretty much like we thought: Moe meets Gradius. Good one, Konami! Also, there's Square Enix's sword handled Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road. Some game called Network Battle Quiz Answer x Answer as well. We'll be posting more images from the arcade gaming AOU2007 Amusement Expo as they surface. Stay tuned.
