    Obtained a copy, played through to Rio de Janeiro (or more precisely to the end of the Airport level). . . game froze.

    Cleared my Xbox's cache, installed the game to the hard drive, tried again. . . froze.

    Finally managed to get it to the Rio de Janeiro level. . . died and froze again.

    I think that's enough for one night. #modernwarfare2

    I got it on Thursday night after work at a Indy game shop in Jersey City NJ. It's called Gamland and it's on Bergen ave right near St. Peters college.

    I played multiplayer up to around level 20. But I had to leave for the weekend to help a friend get his house ready for closing, so I havent played at all since early Sat morning.

    I probably won't get to play again until Monday after work, but I've heard that IW is going to reset the leaderboards and everyones progression anyway, which they should, so it's not like my progression will carry over. I still have the advantage of having played most of the maps multiple times already though.

    @puffa469: Apparently they're only going to clear the board of everyone who pirated the game. Everyone who bought the game legitimately will have their stats carry over. #modernwarfare2

    @adhiza: thats a bit retarded, to not let everyone have a fair advantage when the game officially releases. it will be a tad annoying running into a lot of people who have already prestiged or has all the weapons, and so forth. but on the other hand if I got it early I wouldn't want to lose my progress either.

    @toadstoolporridge: Got my copy on Friday in the post as it was dispatched early to avoid Royal Mail strikes. Finished the campaign but was wating on the MP because I didn't want all my hard work to go to waste.

    Now I've started playing, and the matchmaking put me against a prestiged level 17. The entire team got owned. #modernwarfare2

    @deanbmmv: I think people find this controversial because the word "game" is associated with it, but the single player portion of a video game is more about delivering a story these days than trying to win.
    It's an interesting way of showing the horrors of terrorism, and it's unique to video games as a visual media. Describing an event like this in first-person perspective in a book would not raise any eyebrows, it wouldn't work in film, but I find it very interesting in a video game. #modernwarfare2

    @deanbmmv: I felt it added to the story, I'm not Charlie Brooker so maybe you won't take me as seriously, but that level greatly adds to the story. I won't spoil it but after playing through the entire game you reflect on that level a lot. Charlie Brooker sounds like the kind of media reviewer who tries to be a broad reviewer, but really should only stick to one form of media and keep away from video games. #modernwarfare2

    @deanbmmv: If this was compared to film and literature then he wouldn't have said it was more for shock and awe. I've seem pretty messed up over the top movies get fantastic reviews, Quentin Tarantino thrives off over the top movies, and they all get great reviews. A game is too over the top when it has a short level that the practically creates the entire games story though? #modernwarfare2

    @Liptons: The Saw series is over the top as well and not a single one of those movies compares to a Tarantino movie. Context is important, and if the story is shit and has no point, then yes, a short level that setups up the rest of the story could be too over the top.

    It's not a 1:1 thing. Just because Tarantino knows how to make use of "shock value" in his films doesn't mean Infinity Ward does.

    EDIT: Also, Brooker has been reviewing games since the 90's. He's not just hopping on the video game train now. He knows what he's talking about.

    Tarintino films are a bit OTT, but they are a parody of themselves, have great writing, and aren't taking themselves as seriously as IW are. #modernwarfare2

    -Super Spoilers

    I did not expect the timeship filled with Draculas to show up at the end. I mean there are clues in the game (like all the hieroglyphics in the underwater pyramid level and that everything you hear Mechagodzilla mutter is actually backwards German) but it was something of a surprise.

    That level based on Kafka's Metamorphosis was also pretty funky. #modernwarfare2
