Heck, we've already seen the short online announcement trailer. Now? Now we've got the full length coming attraction.

There's blood, zombie movie and girls swinging swords around — the game in a nutshell.

Thanks Michael for the tip!

<![CDATA[Meet The Stars Of New Onechanbara Movie]]> This year, the cowboy-hat-bikini-wearin' zombie-slayin' Onechanbara movie is getting a sequel. We haven't heard much about it — until now.

Dubbed Chanbara Beauty THE MOVIE vorteX, the flick is apparently based on game by the same name. Starlet Eri Otoguro who played heroine Aya in the first film as well as the supporting cast have been replaced with pin-up model Yuu Tejima (NSFW), actress Kumi Imura (Safe For Work) and starlet Akari Ozawa (Very Boring). Hrm, we can't think of one reason why they replaced the Aya actress from the first film, let alone two reasons.

The vorteX sequel was filmed last December with Tejima bouncing around in a bikini in the cold.

"It was freezing. Because I do pin-up modeling, I think wearing a bathing suit is actual clothing, but that was a big mistake," she told reporters, laughing.

Since Tejima wields two dangerous weapons in the movie, she even studied sword fighting for two weeks. That's probably for the best, we wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

Onechanbara THE MOVIE vorteX will be released on DVD in Japan on July 3. Have a sneak peak at the picture's box art.

<![CDATA[The Zoom Friendly Onechanbara Doll]]>

Everyone's favorite cowboy boots and bikini wearin' zombie slayer Aya from D3's Onechanbara is getting a new figurine come this June. Priced at ¥7,140 (US $59), the fig is at 1/6 scale and measures in at 29 cm (11.4 inches). Over at the YAMATO link below, there's even a "PHOTOZoomer" that lets shoppers get up close and personal with the figure. How close? Why, this close.

<![CDATA[Onechanbara US Release: "Yes." Zombie Vs. Ambulance: "No."]]>

Over at game site Gamasutra Brandon Sheffield has a neat interview with D3 Publisher's Alison Quirion. About a year ago, the company established an American arm of the company. Lots of nice info peppered through the interview, so do head over there and read through the whole thing. Here's what caught my eye:

  • Earth Defense Force X is coming to the US as Earth Defense Force 2017 (as previously reported). Price point: Quirion says, "I don't think we've settled on it. They're not going out at $59, but I'm not sure if we're going to go $49 or $39."
  • The company does intend to bring Onechanbara VorteX to the US.
  • There are no plans to bring Zombies Vs. Ambulance to America. Like ever. And America is less wonderful for that.

Anyhoo, swing by, check out the piece and tell 'em Kotaku sent cha.

<![CDATA[Onechanbara: The Cell Phone Game]]>

We've seen the cute toys, now have a gander at the cute Onechanbara cell phone game. Cowboy-hat-wearing-zombie-slayer gets cell-shaded and over-the-shoulder camera angles for D3 Publisher's CERO Z (the Japanese game equivalent of "X") title. Since its a cell phone title, apparently the game slips under the country's ratings radar. Though, with graphics that kawaii, what's to worry?

<![CDATA[Xbox 360: Adult Games For Japanese Adults]]> With titles like Idolm@ster and Onechanbara, the Xbox 360 is a console for Japanese consumers with discerning tastes. Not only that, but hit "American" titles like Dead Rising and Gears of War get slapped with country's dreaded games-as-porn "Z" rating. And Microsoft is starting to realize this. And hopefully capitalize on it.

Next January, Xbox Japan is holding an "Adult Games Festa" at the Akihabara UDX 3D Theater. Save for sandbox game Crackdown and the cross platform Vampire Rain, the other games aren't exactly new: Gears of War, Dead Rising, The Godfather and Onechanbara vorteX. The 18 years-old and over event kicks off at 3:30 pm on the 12th and ends at 10 pm, because ADULTS play video games LATE. Except for me.

<![CDATA[Onechanbara's Pretty Outfits To Kill Zombies In]]>

Our favorite zombie-slashing cowboy hat-donning boa-wearing bikini killer, Onechanbara's Aya gets new duds in the next-gen Xbox 360 sequel Onechanbara VorteX. Looks like there are dress-ups for the character's head, arms, legs—along with tops and bottoms for the character to wear during the hacking and the slashing. Don't just think of them as new outfits for Aya to wear, but new outfits to cover in zombie blood.

<![CDATA[Onechanbara To Slice Up Xbox 360]]>

In the continuing effort to make the 360 appealing for those with "discerning" tastes, zombie chanbara game Onechanbara is slated for released at the end of the year in Japan. And well, we do love our zombies here at Kotaku. The game's title is a word play on "one" (sister, young girl"), "chan" (an informal name marker) and "chanbara" (sword fighting). Dubbed Onechanbara: vorteX, the game pits the cowboy-hat-and-skimpy-outfit wearing young heroine against hoards of the walking dead, whom she slices up with katanas in a Kill Bill-style blood bath bonanza. Anyone familiar with publisher D3's Simple 2000 Onechanbara for the PS2 would probably agree: This is the only safe-for-work imagine available. The words "Japan Only" mean, anything?
