I live in Cleveland, and have never even heard of this lady. Shame on me, for she is badass. I can only hope to be so foul-mouthed and lazy when I'm that old. Well, I kinda planned on that anyway. #oldgrandmahardcore
@TheAlp: Yeah, gettign conflicting reports.
Kotkau jsut seems to be ranomly failing.
All i know is folks are having issues, and in my case chrome doesn't work with kotaku, but FF does(touch wood). #oldgrandmahardcore
OGHC is wonderful, she's had some pretty terrible health problems, but she keeps gaming through it all, playing all sorts of games on different systems. She is the kind of gamer we should all aspire to be like. #oldgrandmahardcore
@(Starman) Alpha: I am absolutely OVERJOYED with the magic comment system that, completely at random, goes completely insane and breaks in all the stupidest ways. It almost brings me to ORGASMIC EUPHORIA ;-; #oldgrandmahardcore
@DouglasJayFalcon: XD No, I meant in terms in personality, whether or not our grandmas were badass tomboys or if our grandpas were of the tough guy city-gang type. #oldgrandmahardcore
My grandfather was a wonderful storyteller,when I was young we used to work in his garden together or the workshop if it the weather was to bad and just talk. He spent most of his life down the pit and when he had to retire he lied about his age to get a job at the crem. Even now I decades after his death I still miss sitting with him and having a cup of tea just chatting. I've told my daughter some of the stories about our family history so they will not be forgotten, we've played a game "tip kat" that has been around for centuries and made cakes from a recipe book that my great great grandfather wrote when he was an apprentice baker.
It's a shame that more people don't do this, we lose so much of our families history,(stuff that is rarely written down and is ignored by history) just through lacking that time or will to just sit and have a drink with older relatives. If you are lucky enough to still having living grandparents and parents just take the time you may never know what you may learn. #oldgrandmahardcore
@(Starman) Alpha: My grandmother worked for virtually all her career in the same mining village. She had a very very dry sense of humour,miners are known for being a little erm blunt. I once asked her why she became a teacher, she thought for a while and replied "I didn't want to be a teacher, I wanted to be a librarian. But the only way to get promotion was for the person ahead of you to die and they didn't have a large crime section in the library".
I don't think the term badass was coined then but I think that counts.

No, she worked as the assistant headmistress in the village school,she never wanted to be headmistress because it would mean to much paperwork and no teaching the children. The kids were the children of either miners, farmers or soldiers so used to a pretty hard lifestyle.
It always used to make me laugh when we went shopping because you would get these 50 something year old shopkeepers standing up straight and doing the typical almost singsong schoolchildrens "good morning Mrs Weirdwolf" to her. More than one of my uncles from the other side of the family told me that she scared the shit out of them when they were little.

Are you being really serious? And your story made me LOL IRL. But by "badass" I was kinda leaning towards tomboy. :P #oldgrandmahardcore
