It doesn't have anything to do with the sales tax.

Same thing goes for tattoos. I think tattooing has only been legal in Oklahoma for less than a decade and they had to start with piercing just to get a foot in the door.
Yes, Oklahoma is a red-blooded, boot-scootin, jesus-lovin' bible thumpin', no child left behind state from hell. That's why I moved.

Tattoos have only been legal here for 2-3 years now, though there was a good underground market here at piercing studios prior to legalization. Most people just headed to the border to get their tattoos, though. Now just about everyone and literally their grandmothers sport tattoos here -_-
They also just recently got a lottery system in, (2-3 years ago, also) when they realized they could make money off of it (they are now able to actually pay their teachers a higher salary than the average $20K a year)
And you forgot the ever so awesome 'Right-to-work' issue, and being the only state this last election to vote every county red (despite supposadly being a Democratic state)

And, what the hell? You didn't mention our fucking stupid ass liquor laws. 3.2 beer, liquor stores not open on Sunday (or after 9pm on any day), only 3.2 in grocery and convenience stores, can't ship or store "high point" beer cold before it's sold to a customer or bar/restaurant, can only sell items with alcohol in them in liquor stores (i.e. no mixers, snacks, etc.)... the list goes on.
You can see where my priorities are set. :)

The alcohol thing does burn me. don't forget just how hard it is getting the good harder beers (most 6 point commercial beers) is here. Usually have my sister bring down the good German shit from when she drives down from Ohio.

First off, you can get 6pt beer if you buy it warm from a liquor store. It can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but you don't HAVE to go across the border to get it. However, I have been denied purchasing beer because the stores told me Oklahoma laws prohibit sell of beer on the day *before* holidays. That's just ridiculous.
Second, who still goes to a porn shop? It's all about the Internet these days. They don't call it "Cox" for nothing...
But you're right about the bible thumping and political pandering to old people. We have the only senator in the U.S. who still doesn't believe in global warming and he wins by huge margins.
But at least you can can get a nice big house for $130k, try that in California, suckers.

No booze, no good beer, no porn, no fun, lots of old people and Bible thumping. Thanks, I'll pay twice as much not to live there.
