"You can play in offline mode if you want - I just don't think you're going to want to. You'll be giving up lots and lots of features, and why would you want to be giving up features?"
Am I the only one that feels slightly creeped out by this statement? Sounds like something your neighbors would say if you live in a over perfect town where everyone has a smile all the time.
"You don't have to come to the X-mas party if you don't want to. But I just think you'll regret it.... You'll be missing out on lots of good food and X-mas singing. I also will be making eggnog, you don't want to miss my eggnog. :) "
@Hardcore: ....what? what alternative?
I don't play online since I'm an antisocial bastard that hates getting his ass handed to him by some snotty nosed kid.
@KhaiJB: If you don't play online then you probably don't care about achievments... so what exactly is going on inside that head of yours if you think that missing achievments makes the game cut down?
@Teran: who said anything about achivements? all he said was "features" - what features? if they are achivements, I don't care. if it's gameplay features, I do care.
Why does everyone hate the internets all of a sudden? We all know that the internets makes ur games betterer. Its not like anybody whos going to play SCII doesnt have the internets. Everyone has the internets. ESPECIALLLY SCII nerds.
Chill out dooders, There can has lots of fun on the internets. Stop hating on the tubes, they needs u to live.
"Blizzard tells Shacknews it's working on a "pseudo-LAN" solution to the problem, that might allow play very similar to a regular LAN party, with Battle.net only being pinged once or periodically for authentication purposes."
@Frogbot: Can always go back to wailing about how this may not come out until summer 2012 :)
(Which, coincidentally is AFTER the end of the world according to the Mayans, so this could possibly be some huge government plot to keep placated and docile until then instead of complaining about how they aren't building huge underground vaults for all of us to hide in.)
@Yossarian: Summer 2012 is a few months before the end of the Mayan calender (21, Dec, 2012)
And a few months before Abstergo get their hands on subject 17.
@Yossarian: Nope, the end of the world according to the Mayans will actually be around the 21st December 2012, so we can have Starcraft for a good few months before imminent and certain death, every cloud...
@Frogbot:
Original Kerrigan VA not being chosen to come back for SC2? Really not a lot coming to mind right now since BlizzCon is over. Haven't heard anything from Activision or Valve in awhile. No random pretentious indie dev saying anything. Madden already came out, and Luke took care of the sports games in his post...

So you are punishing customers by turning off stuff just because the aren't logged in? Am I reading that right or just infering it?
The only 'feature' that should be off by playing offline is online-multiplayer.
Or, you know, if you want to take the game on a trip where you won't have access to the internet? I mean, are you serious? This is 2009. Wireless internet is still hard to find when you're on the go.
Not having to log in would also be great of LAN parties where you don't have the means to get everyone on the internet at the same time.

The idea is that if you have a bunch of friends over for a LanParty, you don't want to have internet for all of them.
