@wirebrain: It's probably something to do with the encryption settings on the network. My PSP wont access the wireless in my house becaue it doesn't support WAP2 encryption (i think). Not too sure though. A quick google search should be able to throw up some answers for you. #talkamongstyourselves
The aerial combat genre is one that is massively neglected and because of it the only series in the genre(Ace Combat) has become stale and boring. Which is a real shame, I wish that more developers would develop for my beloved genre, devs that could actually compete with Project Aces. #talkamongstyourselves
@TexasJack: Flight Sims are semi dead now that Microsoft shut down that part of MS Game Studio. And City builders too. only challenge to the thrown for that in the last six years has been the rather disappointing CitiesXL.
JRPG's are a bit thin on the ground considering were 4 years into this generation.
Is it me or does it not feel like there's been less games out this generation compared to last? #talkamongstyourselves
@deanbmmv: It totally feels that way. Like there is significantly less games, with quality games being a fairly large rarity. I think the blame is to be placed on the large corporations buying up all the smaller studios and a lot of the smaller studios closing up shop. It really sucks. I misses my little "under the RADAR" gems like the Sarge's Heroes and related games and Psi-Ops. =(
Nowadays it seems that games are either kickass or as boring as a college lecture on.
@Trey: I would like to see this as well. Exclusive internet is something not tolerated at all in other area's of tech, but it's seemingly well accepted on consoles. We have seen the PS3 be much more willing to work with PCs in games such as UT3 and I'm sure others I don't know about.
The problem is exclusive networks benefit the console makers. There is no reason for them to be more 'open'. Unfortunately to develop for them you basically need their permission, so they can demand more or less any stipulations they want.
This is one of the reasons PC will always be my gaming platform of choice. #talkamongstyourselves
@Curse lily: Dell has a Studio 17 with the core i7 that i have been eyeing for just under 1300 thats with upgrading the monitor to the higher end one with a 1gb radeon hd 4650.
I hope to purchase this sometime in january or february.
Canada needs movies! Sony must get a move on with the PSN Video Store. Quit treating us like red-headed stepchildren! If anything, you'd be more likely to find red-headed step-children in Europe, and you just announced a video store over there! Although granted, the store will not be immediately available in the ginger capital. #talkamongstyourselves
I was thinking about this last night while playing some FIFA, but why don't we have some referee sports games? That would be awesome having to run up and down the field/arena/rink/stadium/park and spot the fouls, make the right calls. And since there wouldn't be points, you would have to be judged by the league based on performance and accuracy, and you could get a "Crazy Taxi" like score at the end of each game. So if you called a perfect game, you'd get an 'A' along with a numerical score. Bonus points would be awarded for tough calls that we're correct, and of course, you would lose points for bad calls. Your end goal would be to call one of the championship series. And for online play, they (EA or 2K) could link up the ref game with a real sports game and get you to call the games. The two players could rate you and also kick you if you we're calling the game for one side, and there would be a system in place to report things like that. And of course there'd be a leaderboard to showcase the best of the best. #talkamongstyourselves
@geiko: I just pictured a referee with green hair running around everywhere while the offspring was blasting in the background...I'm never going to get that image out of my head now...lol #talkamongstyourselves
While Katamari has filled the void lately it's not all about building destruction. Where are my destruction games where the objective is to just destroy stuff with machines that...destroy stuff?
@SuicidalEarthworm:
Destroying stuff in that game, while incredibly cool, is mainly extra. Then again, I did only play the demo, but I'd have to think the main part of the game was shooting the people that are trying to oppressively rule Mars than blowing up buildings. #talkamongstyourselves
So, uh, now that MW2 is out, can we all please shut the hell up about it and stop giving it free publicity? I'd really appreciate not seeing a new story related to the game every single time I boot the site up. =/ #talkamongstyourselves
@Archaotic: The coverage is proportional to the amount of buzz MW2 has from the gaming community. Kotaku really has no choice, because it's not exactly a niche, small time site that could get away with not covering MW2. #talkamongstyourselves
@Trey: Yes they do. They easily have the choice. They don't have to post about it every 5/10 minutes - NO game deserves that level of hype.
It's like if FFXIII was about to come out, and someone found out that Lightning eats a banana in the game, then every site in the goddamn world posted about it like it was actually important.
Half of the posts on the game just feel like rehashes of someone else's posts on the subject, almost as if they're trying to meet some sort of mandated post count on the game. I really don't want to accuse Kotaku of being paid to cover the game a certain amount of times, but with the lack of trustworthiness in the gaming media after Activision's IGN Music Hub stunt, can you blame me for being worried?
@Trey: It could get away with covering MW2 a bit less.
I think the final straw on the donkeys back was "hey look, there's people on-line playing MW2" article.
Also sucks the old 'not:modernwarfare2' tag doesn't work due to the #hashtag system. Though I guess that'll get sorted when the next Apple keynote comes around. Cos them gizmodians like their lack of Apple coverage. #talkamongstyourselves
Hmm neglected genres, I've more neglected games than genres to be fair.
I'd like a spiritual successor to Battle Realms if possible, it was quite unique at the time. A decent Heroes/Disciples game. Some info on Homeworld 3.
A viewpoint or truxton rerelease.
Pretty sure most people have forgotten forgotten worlds.
Maybe a dark reign 3 (i'll forget 2), heard some rumours about another NOLF. I know an old friend who'd love to have another metal fatigue or vampire the masquerade game. #talkamongstyourselves
@Esper mind tricks: Nothing she survived the end of NOLF2 and I think was vaguely mentioned in Contract Jack (which was awful btw).
Yeah the archers were overpowered but the game was a lot of fun.
You know I was just thinking of posting about Freelancer though that's not really a space flight sim. Pity they were absorbed and then folded and now are part of the guys who make the lego games. #talkamongstyourselves
@AlcoholicZombie: I've never played the first BG&E, I imagine you really enjoyed it, eh?
I too am busy waiting for MW2, fucking USPS likes to take their sweet time, as if chilling in counterfeit fuck coffins for something. *shakes fist* #talkamongstyourselves
@AlcoholicZombie: Good luck! I haven't been to TRU in years, there are no within a reasonable distance of my house.
Though since no one has touched it but me, I can buy MW2 GameStop new for roughly $42 if I choose to keep, so I don't really need a TRU. I <3 GameFly. =D #talkamongstyourselves
One of the games I've been looking forward to this year finally comes out and doesn't have the words "Modern" or "Warfare" in the title- Phantasy Star Zero

I'm sorry, Totilo. Let's "where" it, exactly? :p #talkamongstyourselves

A friend of mine lives in an apartment with wireless and wired access, yet she can't seem to connect her PSP or DS to the network as it is right now.
Can anyone recommend a solution here assuming she can't change the current wireless access ports?

Figured that Han Tao game, Shadow Complex (although it felt more than 2d), smash commando, bionic commando rearmed, etc were all 2d platformers.
I'd say what's missing is a good 2d shinobi game. #talkamongstyourselves

Rampage is a great destruction game, though I have the feeling that it got repetitive after a while. #talkamongstyourselves
08:57 AM
It did get quite repetitive. That's why my gaming sessions on the original Rampage were usually weeks apart.
It also just got harder to find people who wanted to play the later versions on the consoles with me :o #talkamongstyourselves
