I can see this place from my desk -- sort of. It's 29 floors down and across the street. Muuuuch closer than the Nintendo World Store. Which I can't see from my desk.
Yes, the Nintendo store is "only" two blocks down from Toys'R Us. And that might be considered "right down the street" in any other city.
But those two streets are MANHATTAN AVENUES. One avenue is equivalent to four streets in LA, so in reality, it's more like EIGHT blocks down the street. There's a reason why Starbucks is on every "block" in Manhattan.
Besides, Times Square and 5th Ave (Rockerfeller center) are not considered to even be the same neighborhood by New York standards. Avenue of the Americas divides East Manhattan and West Manhattan, and only FedEx and UPS cross that avenue. ;)
@orakga: Yeah I, lived in the city for 8 years and I frequented the Times Square Toys R Us but never once went inside the Nintendo World store. It might have partially been because of the massive Pokemon statues placed outside at the time. They were pretty intimidating.
@samx3phi: I'm not surprised with all the flashing lights of times square it's a wonder people don't have epileptic fits! I lived in New York for a while and the blocks are HUGE. You think it's a small island (and it is; you can walk it in a day) but man it can seem like forever to walk 1 block. I had to walk every week 20 blocks uptown and 20 blocks back. Now thats' a work out.
An I thought the Nintendo store was kinda small. At least not as big as the Toys R us. mm I may have to go back and take a picture of the Trex before they take it out.
I just can't fathom why they'd open up the ultimate Nintendo retail location a few blocks away from the ultimate Nintendo retail location. Spread the love a little, Nintendo!
It's Nintendo, they quit using logic quite a while back.
