@ThursdayNext: I think you can also get an attachment for PC sex games. Imagine the possibilities. For men AND women. Oh the tactile delight this will bring. Reminds me of the i-pod vibrator attachment that syncs with the song being played.
@Fauxe: The epidural needle is typically 16-18G, 8cm long with surface markings at 1cm intervals, and has a blunt bevel with a 15-30 degree curve at the tip. The most commonly used version of this needle is the Tuohy needle, and the tip is referred to as the Huber tip. Most commercially available needles have the Tuohy/Huber configuration and have wings attached at the junction of the needle shaft with the hub, which allow better control of the needle as it is advanced. The original winged needle was called the Weiss needle.
I played with one of these at a trade show a year or so ago. I thought it was feckin awesome, if I was rich and stupid (so far 1 out of 2) I'd love one.
@NecronomiconUK: So... which is it? And in case you're rich, mind lending me a couple bucks? Although for you to do that I guess you'd need the full 2 out of 2...
I'm not big on the controller myself. It seems awkward. Plus I guess I'd feel self-conscious about bringing anybody to my place with a expensive gaming gun laying around. Some folks would get on that whole "you play murder simulators!" thing again.
I actually randomly looked on the Falcon site today to see which games it now supports. (Because the second there's an Oblivion mod, I'm buying the thing.) Saw that Crysis is supported, very tempting indeed. Maybe with my tax return ...
Isn't the original one almost $200? That seems a bit pricey for a controller to me. If I were Novint, I'd start talking about technology for next generation with console manufacturers rather than just making an add-on for current consoles.

Does this make games better to play or more gimmicky in nature? I can imagine this making shooters feel more authentic. As long as it doesn't feel like tacked-on Wii like controls...
I don't see this item being a problem, persay... Most people who bear arms would be quick to remind that without illustrating proper aiming technique, without a more universal method of gripping the weapon, a selecter switch, safety, or even magazine ejection/reloading system, it's no more than just a limited "zapper" with less range of motion.
That's just for starters. So, I see it as a good recreational enhancer, and not a "killing trainer". (Speaking in my general opinion, since I'm reading some concerns from posts above talking "games shooting others" and "murder simulator" talking points.

@HanSolomente: While I understand that there are "sensationalists" out there, there will be interactive entertainment advocates that will also be quick to point out the many toys that we have played with for generations that would be more realistic, yet never inspiring to generate realtime fatalities. To mind, cap-shooting "cowboy pistols" are more realistic, in that you technically reload the revolver in a rudimentary way, and that there is a fake "hammer" that clicks with gunfire.

@Soldier_CLE proclaims Steve Wiebe The REAL King of Kong!!!.: I hear you. When I was I kid I had a Baretta 9mm replica that my parents got me from The Sharper Image. It was metal, had a clip that held metal shells that would unscrew that you could put caps in. The shells would expel when you shot it, and it even had a safety. My parents are super liberal too and I've never hurt anyone. It's all pretty silly. Kinda wish I still had it though.
My brothers and I used to play with the Entertech waterguns that looked pretty realistic from a distance. I remember that in the 1980s a kid got shot by the police and ended up dying as a result. That's part of why you see those hazard orange tips that you see on the end of the barell.
Interestingly enough, the Gotcha game came out that shot these paint pellets at you.

I think it's an interesting idea but I just don't see it being successful. Pulling the trigger will become tiring very quickly and it might make games a bit more difficult. I don't think competitive players will want this unless everyone had it since clicking a mouse is hell of a lot easier than pulling a trigger. Well, that is assuming that the trigger on it has a bit of movement and takes some force since they're going for realism
A recoil function is neat, but when the recoil is already simulated in the game, having it in the controller too would just mess you up even more...You'd have to design games specifically around the thing for it to be practical. That's too bad, because it's an innovative idea.

Watch a video on its website -- you can "feel" objects in the environment. It opens up new gameplay possibilities, just like motion detection.
