So, basically the military is the slaves of the government, trying to keep what little economy and "stabililty" they have going. No shock there.

Also, If you guys want some laughs, look at the absurd propaganda at the NK official site.

@Hey_Blinkon: China works in a similar fashion (funny how communism works). Armies are just a pool of manpower that are owned by the political party leaders and then used as both enforcers and labor in the top state-run industries.

It's a very effective way to keep control of the money in your country and make sure that your top "industry" people are very loyal to your system.

You make a guy a general, you give him 10,000 troops, and then you let him run his factories and farms in his area with those troops. He gets rich, your standing army is kept busy, and everyone is still loyal to the top since they decide who gets to be the general. #northkorea

Kim Jong thinks Pol Pot was "Too Soft"

And pirating Nintendo games doesn't shock me at all. Kim hates Japan with a burning passion. It's no wonder that Japan is thinking about staging it's own missiles. #northkorea

Not for nothing, but all militaries do things that people don't normaiily consider a military matter. Where I live, for instance (the New Jersey Shore) the Us Army Engeerneers recently expanded the beaches. This could be considered an expansion, especally since there were claims that the N. Korea Military was counterfitting US currency a few years back.

@phatslo001: Militaries certainly work on large civilian projects, but I bet you don't see them forage in Jersey.

Many times these civilian projects are excellent, real world training for engineering that needs to be done on a battlefield. #northkorea
