It's not a Batman-related DLC pack. It's not a Darksiders demo. It's Wing Commander IV. Only downside is that it's obviously the lesser PS1 port, but hey, Wing Commanders can't be choosers.

I suppose it's up to you to decide whether the Army of Two: The 40th Day demo takes precedent over downloading Pavement's "Cut Your Hair," but now PlayStation 3 owners can do both. Sega has been teasing us. Ryū ga Gotoku 3, the third game in Sega's Yakuza series, has sold half a million copies in Japan since its release in February of last year. Despite strong sales and the clamoring of the franchises' fanbase, the developer has remind quiet about a Western release - until now. In a post on the European PlayStation Blog, Sega announces the impending U.S., European, and Australian release, with words from SOE's European Marketing Director, Gary Knight.

"Yakuza 3 was one of the most requested titles for localisation by our European SEGA community, so we are delighted to be able to fulfil their wishes with this announcement. As well as delving even further into the rich narrative of the Yakuza universe, the development team have pushed the PlayStation 3 hardware to the limits to produce a beautiful and startlingly realistic depiction of the Japanese underworld."

The localization of the game will feature full Japanese voice acting with English subtitles, as it should be. Best of all, the PlayStation 3 exclusive is due out in March. That's only three months or so of waiting. Perhaps Sega was wise to tease us until now.

Inferno Pool pits up to four online or local players against each other, trying to clear their pool table while their opponents fire balls at them. It's just like regular pool, only with alliances, betrayals, fire, and explosions. Truth be told, it sounds far more interesting than normal pool, through you can still play a regular game if you aren't up to the challenge.

Inferno Pool was released last year on the PlayStation Network in the UK and Europe, but has yet to hit North American or Asian PS3 consoles. Developer Dark Energy Digital has teamed up with Koch Media to deliver the game to the Xbox Live Arcade service next Wednesday, October 28th, in both North America and Asia. Go figure.

Inferno Pool Hits Xbox Live Arcade on October 28th [Evil Avatar]

In Japan, Alternative Edition will be released as a new physical package, with all that entails: new box art, new manual, new shiny disc, another plastic box to add to a tottering stack of console games. This makes absolutely perfect sense for the Japanese gaming market, where the uptake of digital content is a bit behind the western markets. However, based on the success of the RE5 "Versus" downloadable content, as well as digital-only titles like Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Marvel VS Capcom 2, we know that the demand for DLC in the west is huge. More and more, gamers in North America and Europe want content immediately and are less inclined to be tied to boxes and packages.

They're flat serious about putting this up to a poll on the Capcom-Unity site, although it should be said, nothing implies the final tally is binding. But if it matters to you, make your voice heard. You'll need to have a Capcom-Unity account, or register one, to make your vote count.

"We're gonna let the poll run for a few weeks, then present the team with the results and our recommendations," Kramer says, "Once we get it all sorted, we'll report back with an official announcement."

We knew it was coming to Japan, and now we know it's coming everywhere else, as Square Enix announces a February 9th North American ship date for Star Ocean: The Last Hope International, the PS3 version of the former Xbox 360 exclusive RPG. Along with both English and Japanese, the game will also feature German, French, and Spanish, making it even more international than we first suspected.

Along with the previously discussed battle system tweaks and menu changes, the official announcement says the game now features "amazing graphics through Blu-ray Disc," whatever that means.

My Xbox 360 died halfway through Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and I never had the heart to go back through it. Perhaps in February I can finally make up for that oversight.

There's a lot to play with this week, including the remake TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, a Katamari Forever demo and yet another PSone Classic in Syphon Filter 2. Plus, you can inflict injury upon George Takei in PAIN as of today. Not bad! The Half-Minute Hero demo for the PSP should at least have you searching for your handheld's battery charger.
