I think the barren world was intentional, as long as we're going with the whole Travis = gamer motif. The world only existed for him, everything unnecessary wasn't there.
@ninjafetus: It also shows in how linear, focused, and single-character-driven the story was. Travis couldn't get his mind off of anything else but his goal.
@ninjafetus: It's thought to be satirical of GTA games, how despite there being a whole open world, there's not really anything worth doing apart from your missions.
Mitsuki got me to pick this up. I've yet to load it up n give it a proper go, got to the first boss. Seems interesting though it's the first Wii game I've played with the Wiimtoe (played Mario Kart n SSBB with Classic Controller) so that's my main barrier.
@Link-dude: If you haven't done so already, you must watch the normal-speed version of the fast-forwarded speech at the end.
I won't go into specifics, because it would be a huge spoiler for those who are yet to play the game.
Likewise, I won't embed the video because the preview pic alone is a spoiler.
@Antiterra: The fact that Suda actually recorded it in normal speed and sped it up makes me think he fully expected gamers to slow it down and listen to it normally.
Otherwise he could've just had them speak gibberish, or fast forward/time skip the whole damn thing.
@Archaotic: I'd say that's a safe assumption. One way among many others to break the fourth wall. Suda must have heard about the Internet. :)
NMH2 really can't come soon enough.
Since I won't be able to use the Freeloader this time around, I'm hoping against all hope that Europe will get the uncensored version.
Otherwise, I'll seriously consider modding my console - something I've never done before.
Oh well, for now I'll just rejoice that Shinobu will be coming returning for NMH2 (and in playable form, too).
Can't wait for this game. It looks like such an improvement over the original it's hard to fathom. I'm not sure how sold I am on the battery meter being a penis, though... >_>;
One thing's for sure, No More Heroes' final Wii installment is going to kick the shit out of everything else on the system coming out this fall and in January.
@BubbleF**kingBuddy: How much grinding actually took place for you? I would beat a boss, do the new mini-game, and then perform the following assassination mission. By that time, I usually had enough cash to cover the entry fee. If not, I would try one of the many free kill missions or a different assassination one (baseball and the $90,000 ones are tickets to Easy Money).
And that was with spending ludicrous amounts of money on clothing and Travis-driven upgrades.
Further along the subjective train, I liked the Lawn Mowing game a lot. It was a relaxing, motion-driven time to cool down from choppin' fools in half.
No More Heroes was by far my favourite Wii, despite its flaws (what can I say, I'm one of those weird people who buy Nintendo consoles and don't play Mario or Zelda). NMH was a deliriously fun and original ride from start to finish, in a tongue-skewering-cheek kind of way that didn't appeal to everyone, but that I personally loved.
Please, Ninty, release the damn black Wii already... I don't care if it's a limited edition, if it costs 50 euros more, I just want my black Wii before NMH2 comes out...
No More Heroes belongs on the Wii. It's the motion controls that really makes the combat a lot of fun. Besides, Grasshopper Manufacture is more concerned with art style than it is about pushing graphics.
I can't wait to see the other new assassins Travis is going to have to face.
@Killer7: the juxtaposition between "Suda 51" and the picture of the mexican wrestler was one of the high spots of the trailer. The wrestling is so non-sequitir but hilarious and works with the wii well.
Wow it's crazy I mean the game didn't do that well, but def has a strong cult following?! I don't care as long as we get to play this shit, I'm good. First day purchase (just like the first one).
That was a good teaser/trailer. Dude throwing ho's, chicks talking about getting preggers (I think that's what she said), full course meals?!?!!?
TRAVIS TOUCHDOWN is the mother f'ing man. First new IP character in awhile that I'm totally geek for.

I think I just died a little inside.
Not that the game is subtle though.

Still...yeah.

This sounds like the beginning of some kind of gamer proverb.
"Man who shoots missiles indoors should always keep healthpacks nearby."
Personally, I follow the credo that "A rolling katamari gathers no random items."

Gee, I was wondering why this game looked so familiar!
I just hope they get rid of the grinding in-between missions. That ruined the first one for me. I'd rather it be Gameplay-Only, like MadWorld.

The scorpion one sucks, though.

Just a theory.
But yeah, I will be buying this within a week or 2.
