Hmm... At this rate, I am waiting to hear all the other less-than-fabulous color schemes for Ninty logos in different regions.

Example: Mauve = North America, Taupe = Japan, Periwinkle = Oceania, etc...

So, wait, are we supposed to use the gray logo, or the grey logo???

DON'T DO THIS TO ME NINTENDO.

Grey isn't boring when it's surrounded with happy waggling people (OK, they're all wearing white and look like they're part of a cult, but it's a happy cult, none of that Jim Jones shit).

OH-EM-GEE. HOW COULD THEY! THIS IS A TRAVESTY I'M GONNA HAVE A NERD-RAGE.

    'Kay, it passed. Carry on.

@TragicaLLy MaLicious: Wow, that was the shortest nerd-rage I've ever witnessed. No "Nintendo is turning its back on its true fans" ? No "I'm done with Nintendo" ? C'mon, where's your passion !

Nobody is going to take you seriously if you don't "give up on [insert brand] !!!" at the first occasion, all hissy-fit like.

aw man, im honestly gonna be a little sad if they do this to the US one. they should never change it, its such a great namebrand throwback to the NES.

im still kinda sad when i see konami's newer logo.

Just like how Apple changed their rainbow-coloured logo to be silver.

Nintendo really seems to be inspired by Apple at the moment, with the white hardware, the minimalist packaging, and the focus on a "simple" UI for their hardware.

    @Marlor:

I thought the same thing upon reading this. Then I searched the comments hoping no other obviously greatly gifted commenter had thought of it, only to have my dreams crushed utterly after reading your comment.

Apparently great minds think alike, but some check Kotaku more often than others! :)

They should change their logo to "$$$" and everyone will just know it's Nintendo. You know, like the Nike swoosh.

This isn't bringing me any smiles whatsoever. Cammie cannot be pleased with this. Well, maybe her. BUT NO ONE ELSE.

This just in. Sega's logo now black.
    Capcom's logo now monochrome.
EA's box leading the one console future.
Every game either runs on UE3 or uses waggle to make up for it.
Dude Huge is now going by Clifford Blesinski III, esq.
Gaming loses fun to get all serious.

Eh? I remember it was white as well as red before.

They chose the most boring color no? Gray? Really? Gray is the most neutral color if I'm not mistaken.

When a company changes their logo, they normally give some kind of reason: focus groups say the brand needs rejuvenation or some crap like that. Nintendo Europe are silent. What does it mean?

Personally I suspect something to do with line dancing. You heard it here first!

Hm, I always liked the red. Call me old-school, but it just felt more inviting. This drab, gray logo just screams "WE'RE BORING AS FUCK AND WE KNOW IT!"

@maraxusofk: They decided that grey better suited their new mentality of making games that aren't actually fun or pleasing to look at. The color red gave people the wrong impression.
