As a PS3 owner, I will not be buying, too little too late. First off, the series has taken some crazy ass turn I just don't support. I'm sort of a purest, but even more I demand a sensible story and enemies,,, it is too wild imo. However, support the PS3 from the start and maybe I'll support you.
Wow! This is tough. My loyalty to Itagaki, or the chance to play as my all time favorite female game character Ayane in a Ninja Gaiden game... It's too soon for me to choose, I'll have to think about this for a while.
@Ravel: Not really. It is repetitive, silly story, shitty camera and is pretty hard. Not hard like "I really want to beat this" hard, but more like "this is fucking stupid and annoying" hard.
I think you can get it used for like $15, so it wouldn't hurt to try it. PS3 owners are going to be paying $60 for it.
Sigma 1 was pretty damn hard and Itagaki wasn't involved. I seriously doubt Tecmo's going to tone the difficulty down for Sigma 2. If anything, they'll do what Tecmo did for Black and make the game HARDER at its highest levels.
@Aleksei Pulchritudoff: Oh good lord you are lucky you didn't buy a 360 for NG2. I enjoyed it, but let me tell you, it is NOT a system seller. It is a mess. Fun, but really badly designed. This from a fan of the first, by the way, not just some random guy who doesn't get that NG is supposed to be hard.

I lost interest in it while playing it for the 360.
However, I know many PS3 owners would be happy to have another Ninja Gaiden on their hands. It's nice seeing games go multiplatform now adays instead of console exclusives.
@NightMystic: So very true. In fact, these big delays where exclusives gradually become not so exclusive are great. They generally lead to a more polished game (Red Alert 3) and or more content (BioShock), they also let me know whether a game really is worth the day one purchase (like Metal Gear Solid 4 was) or if it's a game to pick up later, during a dry season (like GTAIV is to me - I really got bored of that game, wish I'd waited till all the hype had died down and the more level headed among us had realised it was a drab, grey, soap opera).
@Droid: If they fix things- I pray to God they do- playing through NG2 with new weapons, new levels, and a decent camera sounds like a hell of a time ta me.

@Droid: Update- amateur interwebz translators (as in people, not as in Altavista) say that the article mentions a new weapon- a spiked hammer, new bosses, and of course, the aforementioned playable Ayane. I would be happy to hear that we'll get a chance to play as CIA tits- err, I mean CIA lady, but I doubt that's gonna happen. Still, would be interesting to see the Ninja Gaiden engine handle gunplay.

@Droid: Tough. You have to buy it. Them's the rules. They made it. It's freely available. You go and get it. That's how it works. Oh, and before you give me any of that "Free Market" nonsense, don't.
@josh924: Contract details matter. MS may have only signed a deal for the main series with sigma being a variant that was left out of the publishing contract or Sony is paying the contract penalty for breaking or amending the publishing deal just like Microsoft paid the penalty for Square to release FFXIII on the 360 in the states.
@kingmanic: Sorta reminds me of Darkstalkers. Capcom signed an exclusivity agreement to release the series only on the PlayStation... then after it became apparent the PSX couldn't handle heavy use of sprites, they named the sequel "Night Warriors" on other consoles, to get around the exclusivity agreement.
The irony of the whole Ninja Gaiden Sigma situation is that before Ninja Gaiden 2 was released, Itagaki was praising Sigma up and down, talking about how he had personally selected Hayashi to be the man for the job, etc.
Then NG2 was announced and he immediately started hating it and treating it like a lame cash-in, even though he produced the damn game, despite not being directly involved with the development. He's an asshole.
That being said, if they fix the camera and slowdown issues that were in the original 360 version...I suppose I'll double-dip. I already own Sigma. Might as well get Sigma 2 as well.
@Archaotic: I think the gaming community, as a whole, would dislike him more if he didn't provide us with so many jubblies. It's hard to hate a man who has brought so much happiness to young gamers.
I think the gaming community has some sort of absurd respect for him because he's so different from most Japanese developers. It has nothing to do with the tits in his games, it's that he deliberately bucks Japanese gaming trends to endear himself more to Western gamers.
Basically, people who don't like traditional Japanese game design can cling to Itagaki because he's a "maverick" without feeling tainted, y'know?
My roommate had NGII on his 360. I didn't care for it much (and neither did he since he traded it in for L4D), but if they fix the aforementioned camera issues, it might warrant a pick-up.
@Archaotic: I just made a rather preachy reply to this point myself, but yeah. Itagaki is a dick. I own Black, I own Sigma, I own 2. I intend to get Sigma 2. Not because I like Itagaki. Because I like Team Ninja. Now that he's gone, I like them that much more.

Itagaki could be best described as a walking contradiction. its one thing to slander your employer, but to throw colleagues under the bus? i mean cmon, he isn't gods gift to gaming. Kojima,Inafune,Miyamoto,Ueda have way more clout than this diva.
im down with NGS2 if they fix said issues. sigma 1 was fun as heck.

The games story between 1 and 2 is practically the same. Seems someones just bitter about it coming out on 360 first
