Note the details of the frame - bombed-out gas station, prices are 80 cents higher than the area's average. This is a movie set.

The NeoGAF user (goldsoundz) who spotted this says it's in an area of Shreveport commonly used for filming movies. Other GAFfers pieced together that it's probably for an upcoming movie called Battle: Los Angeles, which is produced by - ding ding ding - Sony's Columbia Pictures. The picture's release date is February 2011.

So, this Resistance 3 billboard would be an advertisement in the film, suggesting that 2011 is when the next Res is on the way. Check out the larger size pic:

The full uncropped pics taken by goldzoundz are over on NeoGAF. Note also the Resistance 3 logo - and the Statue of Liberty forming the vertex of the A. I guess the Chimera are going to lay waste to New York.

I've emailed a press contact for Insomniac Games to ask if they have any comment. Should any be given, I'll put it here.

<![CDATA[Red Faction Guerrilla Presents: The Ostrich Hammer]]> The latest developer diary for Red Faction: Guerrilla reveals where the real power in the gaming industry lies, with the introduction of the Ostrich Hammer.

The Ostrich Hammer is a response to a NeoGAF thread, in a screenshot of the main character swinging the game's power hammer was badly photoshopped with a picture of an ostrich. When NeoGAF talks, game developers listen.

The only problem with April Fool's jokes like this, is now I will be completely crushed if the Ostrich Hammer doesn't end up in the game.

<![CDATA[ESRB Rates Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 For 360, PS3]]> Ah, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board website, a wellspring of information on upcoming, yet-to-be-announced titles. Titles like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, which has recently had two new consoles added to its listing. Joining the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox are the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which would seem to indicate that the title will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. Of course just because the ESRB rated the game doesn't mean it's a sure thing, but further proof has appeared in the NeoGAF forum thread concerning the rating showing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on Microsoft's PartnerNet, the closed version of Xbox Live used on development units.

If Capcom can manage to get stable online multiplayer working with Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and deliver it to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade, I will never ask for another 2D fighting game again. I promise.

ESRB Watch: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 rated for the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 (!!!) #1 [NeoGAF - Thanks David!]

<![CDATA[Denis Dyack Tells Too Human Trolls "Put Up Or Shut Up"]]> Silicon Knights bossman Denis Dyack is sick and tired of the Too Human bashing at popular gaming board NeoGAF. From the lowly rank and file to the very folks running the GAF circus, there's nary a Too Human thread to be found without its share of detractors. Dyack has, rather unwisely we think, issued a challenge to the teeming masses at the board, an attempt to... fuck if I know, but something Denis says is intended "to draw the digital line" between the SK haters and the faithful.

Those on board with reinterpreted Norse mythology and cyber-gods and giant glowing bears? Say you're "For." If you think the whole thing stinks of puerile fantasy and bad art? Consider yourself an "Against."

Dyack writes "When the game is released and everyone plays game all the speculation will be over. If I am wrong and gamers in general think the game is 'crap' then I am comfortable with getting tagged 'Owned by the GAF'." Every single other person who thinks or hopes the game will be an epic failure gets their own tag — "Owned by Too Human."

Yes, it's that sound of an idea. Unquantifiable and as ill-conceived as nearly any industry figurehead attempting to interact with or counteract the bad publicity of the internet's anonymous trolls.

I don't think I'll be weighing in with my own GAF username — my awful tag is just awful enough, thank you, mods — but I can't say I'm not a fan of the drama. Not sure how big a fan I am of Too Human, yet, though. In fact, I think I'll go play some Too Human, right now and sort that out.

<![CDATA[Public Safety Notice: Games PR Are Watching You Post]]> Sorry, that was a little alarming. You, of course, knew that already. It's not as if games PR types sit around in ivory towers getting their information from carrier pigeons and whispers on the wind. They find out what you like, don't like and go "eh" about their games by, yes, trawling through your favourite forum, and reading up on what you - Average Joe - thinks about their games. Same goes for developers as well. Keen to hear more about how it all works? Please, hit the link below for the full 1UP feature, which features chats with, among others, PR reps from 2K & Capcom, as well as NeoGAF owner Tyler Malka.

We received a couple of tips about this insane Tetris video, all pointing us back to NeoGaf. Check out, in particular, the last minute or so, when the game goes invisible. Insane.

<![CDATA[MGS 4 Trailer, Then Vs. Now]]> Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, Konami did indeed issue a remastered video of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. We posted about it yesterday, after the trailer dissecting newshounds at NeoGAF picked up on the changes.

Kotaku has reviewed screen grabs of the modified E3 2006 trailer, which displays new visual effects, but we don't expect to see anything substantially new of MGS4 until E3 2007 in July.

This new footage is simply a recut version of last year's E3 trailer but smoke effects, particles, lighting, textures, motion blur - all of these things have been visually tweaked, with rather clear side-by-side comparisons of the retouched effects seen above. Looks nice. Sorry, nicer. But we're tired of waiting for this game. Doesn't Konami have better things to do than fiddle around with existing footage?

<![CDATA[Rumor: Gears of War Hit 4 Million]]>

Web forum NeoGAF points to a Japanese site that claims Gears of War has shifted 4 million units. Gotta agree with GAF — Getting Xbox 360 sales data from a Japanese site is totally sketch. So we followed the paper trail to the original source, iTWire. That website reports:

Microsoft's latest game, Gears of War, continues its incredible sales figures, recently selling more than 4 million copies and edging close to knocking Halo and Halo 2 off the top of the Xbox sales charts.

Must've missed that announcement. That being said, Gears of War selling 4 mil isn't really shocking at all. But in these last two months?

<![CDATA[Brain Age Rip-offs Come To PC]]>

While trolling the lovely NeoGAF this morning for my pre-breakfast news, I came across this shameful Brain Age cash-in for Windows.

A PC version developed by some wacky budget-studio, copying the looks and name of the original. Bart Smit even helps misleading the customer by saying "Now also available on PC!" next to it, making it look like it's just a PC-version of the original. Right... the Dutch description beneath it says "Train your brain while having fun! Answer as many questions as you can in a short period of time!", which leads me to believe it's just a couple of hundred questions you have to answer.

Funny, it just happens to share the same title as Dr. Ryuta Kawashima's book of brain exercises as well. Have the Dutch NO SHAME?
