I've finished the campaign within 3 days and I have to say, I did have a bit of fun with it. I did enjoy Pro Street as well, despite the negativity that has surrounded it.
With Undercover though, I thought the story was really crappy and even more so of how it was portrayed. What started to annoy me was the camera shots of Maggie Q. She is a very beautiful woman and a great actor, so don't get me wrong. At some points, I thought the producer of these vids had some foot fetish.
I really hope it fixes the framerate issues. I am currently running a 4870 512MB OCed and a E7300 CPU. This rig can play World in Conflict and Supreme Commander just fine at 1680 x 1050, with AA off and texture settings relatively high.
Overall, I don't hate it unlike many of past fans here. I know the NFS series can be brought back, it is just a matter of time.
However, if the next title just pisses me off as much as you guys with Undercover, I too will ditch the NFS series.
Maybe they can turn the game fun, kinda like what happened to Lair. Thanks to refraining from playing the game before the patch hit, I actually got a pretty good time out of that game.
I'm just sick of every racer feeling like they have to use the 'tilt-to-turn' method. Why can't there be multiple control options? Like a touch-sensitive button layout on the screen itself so it acts as a display an input device. I'd prefer that over anything I've played with yet.
I like the whole immersion factor of having to turn the screen to turn the car, but whenever I play games like that on a mobile device, I tend to hurt myself. Especially in crowded places I tend to hit people that are directly beside me.
Not the best mobile control scheme IMO, but it definitly looks nice.
People like my dad, who naturally lean their whole bodies and move the controller in their hands in the direction they want a car to turn in a video game, will feel right at home.
I misread NFSU as NSFU at first... Not Safe For U indeed.
I'm digging the graphics, but thats generally all I've been able to say about the Need for Speed games over the past couple of years anyways.
I'm an iPhone boob, so I don't know about these things, but is it possible to plug in a little keypad or something? After reading about how the car is gassed all the time (Im assuming because of a lack of buttons), this inability to have buttons has to be severely limiting some of the games that could be made on this powermonster of a 'phone'.
Frankly, I don't care what others are saying about this game; the consensus being "Undercover is meh" to "Absolute crap". Despite the negative reviews on Pro Street, I personally had fun with the game. And being a long time Need For Speed fan, I will buy this installment in the series. Like what slyfer911 has mentioned already, *GASP* I actually have fun playing them.
Well, I did thought Carbon was almost a disaster. xD
I'm the only one who hated the open world driving in Underground 2 then eh? Alright then :-P
I haven't been interested in a NFS game since then for that reason. I think my favorite in the series was Porsche Unleashed, but that could just make me weird.
Man Underground 2 was so much hotter with the pick up races you can find just driving around town I miss those. I miss the customization of Underground 1. I liked the cop chases in Most Wanted but still wanted it to be better. Skipped Carbon, Skipped PRo street, I still laugh Loudly when i think how Garnett Lee was so bullish on Pro street on 1up.
I'll be skipping this or pirating it, surely not going to pay EA for it.
@Luravi: Underground 2 was horrible. Not even the super hot Brooke Burke could save it. I wanted to like it but it just got boring. Nothing felt exciting about it. Part one did it better.
Wait, wait, wait... you LIKED being nickel and dimed in order to experience the game? I mean, I suppose I can see the advantages, but I think I would find that pretty loathesome.

@gunluva: To this day I still play it... completed both the wii and 360 versions, and still occasionally take the 360 one online...
Watch for my blue Mitsubishi Lancer with the orange stripes! (even though everyone and their dog uses the Audi... yeah good for you you beat the game, but how bout racing me in something a little more fair, huh?)
@DarkTetsuya: I drive a white RX-8 with Homestar Runner made out of vinyl layers on the sides. Obviously, I lose a lot. But I do get quite a few messages and friend requests.
Last NFS game I owned and enjoyed was on original Playstation, I think Hot Pursuit or something? Anyway. I've tried some of the more recent NFS games and I just don't like it anymore. I discovered the Burnout series starting with Takedown on PS2 and those games have been pretty awesome so far.

It's everything an arcade racer should be and the development team continues to support it after being released almost a year ago.

Even though EA has 2 development teams working on the NFS franchise now, somehow the games are still a pile of trash.
