This could be the least of this trilogy of games (include Parappa and Um Jammer for a thematic trifecta) and I'd still give it more than a fair shot. I can understand the people who say (maybe in not the nicest way) "this looks like it's definitely not for me, and if i play it, I will hate it"; put Killzone or Halo in that sentence and I've said it a thousand times. I just wish they'd leave it at that instead of calling it shovelware.
But to me, this seems shrewd, almost brilliant. Parappa was probably the beginning of a lineage of games that has culminated in GH and RB and rather than pick the bones of that style of play, the same creators seem to be trying to take it in a relatively new direction with the marching band premise. I am very excited to try this, but I don't think the game will meet my expectations. However, there is a lot of room that the game has to drop before it can hit the shovelware level.
I also don't see a lot of Parappa fans disparaging the concept of this game, which encourages me.
Shovelware my ass. This guy made Parappa, everything he touches turns to gold. I stay by my statement. I will proudly buy this game. Parappa and Lammy gave me lots of hours of fun!
Wow, it's good to know how horrible the gaming community has become. Hating on this game tells me everything I need to know about a person. Mostly, that you hate fun or interesting anything.
Much like the people that ask why Let's Tap is on the Wii and not just done with button presses.
I don't consider myself leet, a troll, fanboy or otherwise prick in general(though I have my moments with the prick tag...), can you explain what not being interested in this game tells you about me? I have no idea if the game is fun. I have played parappa and found it amusing(I was VERY young) but this game has not grabbed my attention.
This isnt to say that I might not play it somewhere ddown the road and like it. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. I dont gush over everygame I see. There are at the moment 5 games that I have seen so far that I am certain to grab day 1 this year. They range from RPG(Star Ocean 4), to LOOSE survival horror(RE5), to Ghostbusters(YAY). I don't have some ultra love for one genre, honestly don't like Halo, so I would be interested in what my lack of enthusiasm for this game says about me as a paerson.
I don't mean to try to flame, I like a lot of niche games, I loved Ka(mister misquito) and generally like innovation. We don't all have to have love for every game do we? If the game is great, then I will try it later, I love good games. For those who feel the Wii has shifted its focused, for lack of a better phrase, this game can be seen as evidence to back their view, right or wrong. I don't think that means anyone should belittle thier character over that.
I get it! It's a post-modern satire of the modern music industry. Major Minor hypnotizing the townsfolk into joining his marching band parallels American Idol deluding TV watchers into thinking they're part of the music industry by letting them vote for the winner.

If this game has the same level of quality as the original Parappa the Rapper and Um Jammer Lammy, I'll get it.

I'm not getting the same feel from the images...

Hey gamers, our hobby has expanded to include demographics that are not just us anymore. This is a good thing. Get over it/yourselves.
