But for this game online brings you.
1. Super Douche bags who think they are far better than you in all ways.
2. ShotGun Satans, who constantly do nothing but shoot your lovely ass full of holes, around every corner.
3. In-mature Kiddie's young and old.
So I dont even bother playing live unless i'm with a friend, friends make online less gay... sometimes..
But as for DLC, I wont be getting any unless they make guns shoot turds or something.

MW2 is good, but for all intents and purposes it is just CoD4 recycled. The new weapons are basically just reskinned versions of old weapons, the maps really aren't that great and hell wasteland is a direct rip of a CoD2 map! The gameplay hasn't really advanced and the although good the online system hasn't improved much at all. Considering the RRP in the UK was a colossal £55 i do honestly think that MW2 has been one of the least value for money games i have played this gen.

@KaneBaker: It is a good map, it's just the fact that it is totally recycled which i think is BS.

I'd also like to say what is with the god damn amount of arsy people on this site lately, is no one enititled to an opinion anymore, jesus. I remember when this site used to be full of level headed gamers who could actually have a discussion involving criticisms without saracastic douches crawling out of the woodwork.

SHOTGUNS
What was IW thinking? Shotguns are so ridiculously over powered in this game! Oh, and don't even get me started and the dual shotguns that people run around with.
11/26/09
Oh, and the fact that C4 counts as a "stealth kill" XD

SMGs are basically useless. I get some use out of the UMP, but that's about it. The weapon balance is really out the window. In CoD4 you could viably use every weapon. But not so in MW2. Basically the assault rifles dominate everything. Snipers are good on a minority of maps, and in a lot of instances are RIDICULOUS with thermal. (think Wasteland, getting camped) I'd never even want to use a pistol any more with the wildly more powerful sidearms like machine pistols and shotguns.
What's more is that a lot of the secondary weapons are better than a lot of primaries. e.g. AA-12, akimbo 1887s rape ridiculously hard. You can even stand a good deal further away than you needed to for a shotgun kill in CoD4.
Either they made all of the weapons stronger, or they decreased your overall health. The skill gap is lessened because of how easy it is to make a kill. I think the game could use some very basic fine-tuning by scaling down the power on sidearms for weapon balance, making SMGs useful again, and giving a very mild health boost.
Try out CoD4 again if you want to see what I mean by the weapon balance and health issues. There are some REALLY substantive differences in what some would perceive as subtle game mechanics.
In short; yeah, bring on the DLC. But MW2 needs to be patched for balancing.

I disagree about the balance issues. CoD4 was similar in the beginning in that it seemed unbalanced. You really just need to know what guns for what map, situation, style.
Of course you cant just rock a SMG on every map against any opponent. Thats why they give you several classes to customize so that you can counter the offense.
Example: If you are on a map such as highrise and you notice a bunch of camping snipers, then your best course of action is to either run and gun underground, get a sniper rifle w/heartbeat sensor and machine pistol to snipe back, or whatever else.
In terms of general health issues, I think the game followed a WaW style more so. The guns do more damage. And I for one like that a player is more susceptible to damage.
You didnt make a comment on the maps, but because other people bitch...Im just going to throw it out there now. The maps are all totally awesome. Seriously, I dont know why people hate the Sub Base...its one of my favorite ones. I think its just that all the CoD4 players got so damn used to the old maps, they fear and hate the change for no reason other than that they are new maps.
Once you figure out good classes, play style, and what the map's hot spots are...I dont see why anyone would dislike them. Its just something that the player needs to learn to deal with
And thus ends one of my longest Kotaku posts

I think we'll probably have to agree to disagree on a lot of these points (like health)... I've always had a positive experience with CoD4's balancing. You could use every weapon viably, depending on the map. Obviously you can't use every weapon on every map, in ANY game. But in MW2, SMGs in particular, are just awful. They are routinely outclassed by sidearms. I'd rather be running around with an AA-12 out than a Vector, for example. Faster firing, huge hit range on the AA-12... It's like showering a wall of lead in your enemy's general direction. If you fire first, in a lot of instances, you're likely to make the kill.
Another thing is disjointed hitboxes. I've sniped and killed people that I would've missed in MW2's predecessors. On the other hand, if you hit someone directly, it's not so unlikely that the hit marking X will come up, but the enemy will be fine.
As far as the maps go, like you said ... I like most of the maps. With the exception of Quarry and Wasteland, I can appreciate MW2's maps. Even where there are design issues like on Estate, where a good deal of games are in favor of the team that keeps the big house on the hill (for ridiculous camping potential, especially if you've got thermal snipers or an M16 or FAMAS with thermal.
You are right that it's easy to play the game once you've got the hotspots lined up. But that's an issue as well -- it's so easy to camp. It's almost like IW wants you to, given some ridiculous spots. Take for example that your head can poke over the top of a good deal of boxes designated for cover (think Quarry). Your enemy can see a small cluster of pixels above the box, but you can see their entire bodies. It really encourages camping. Or Afghan, where clusters of rocks in the upper (back?) half of the map can be taken advantage of in the same way.
I'm not saying that there's no way around these problems. I'm stating that they are problems. Problems that the game would be better without.

Ive never really considered camping (legit snipers at least) to be a huge issue in most games, especially in CoD with Kill Cams. After I know where a camper is, I just leave them the fuck alone and go elsewhere.
It actually pisses me off when I see my team going after a camper to die three or four times before getting them...people only camp for the same reason people troll...others give them a reason to. Same idea applies for maps like Estate. If you dont have the house, then dont go up to it....lure them out.
When it comes to the hitboxes, I noticed they seem to be a bit more gracious...mainly because I can actually snipe for once. I also notice getting more headshots than usual
The thing about shotguns is, it took the WaW approach to. I never understood why in almost all video games, shot guns have no range. Shotguns are a powerful gun with a good range of thirty or so feet, easy. I agree the automatic shotgun is a bit cheap, but that thing goes through ammo so quick and you can still simply attack from a distance (or get a riot shield) that it is balanced out.
Idk, I like the game because it seems a bit harder because its easier to die...seriously people like CoD because its 'realistic' yet complain that a few shots kill you like it would in real life...never made sense
You just gotta be willing to adapt to the other team and their style. Its balanced once you figure out how to combat the problem and get the skill to implement it.
For the record, I dont play a lot (about twenty hours in multiplayer so far) but my stats are Im about a level 37 or so with about a 1.35 K/D ratio last time I checked.

Regarding what you said about campers.. yeah, people are dumb and FEED the campers. But it's also unfortunate that there are so many incredibly effective camping spots. Spots that are practically designed just for camping. I know IW put enough foresight in to see it coming too.
And as far as the shotgun ammo goes.. I've got extended mags and scavenger on one of my classes. It's basically a predesignated shotgun class, and it DESTROYS. I put a Scar (although the gun isn't what's important here) with a heartbeat sensor as the primary.
11/26/09
I like the FAMAS more than the TAR. I usually role with FAMAS, bling pro (heartbeat, FMJ on FAMAS, red dot and silencer on machine pistol), stopping power pro, and hip fire pro
And I also like the Barret .50 cal sniper with the exact same load out (heartbeat/FMJ) but sometimes Ill put the thermal on instead. And I usually have the tactical insertion on it
I also roll with a FAL, UMP, TAR, and occasionally the P90 or MP5
Havent used the shotguns or machine guns that much yet (outside of the AUG which seems pretty good)

edit: I wish CoD would put in a L85A2. Always been one of my favorite guns in FPS's, along with the FAMAS
11/26/09
Close range is balanced, you just can't assume you can use your assault rifle from 3 feet away as effectively has a pistol/shotgun.
11/26/09
11/26/09
The L85A2 is the standard issue rifle for the British armies. Selectable firing, support for grenade launchers, good accuracy/damage and a decent fire rate and clip size.
Rainbow Six series usually includes them. CoD probably didnt because it doesnt stand out enough.
11/26/09
Ive gotten smoked by more pistols than machine pistols. Some people are very good with them.
I roll with the machine pistol because that thing tears people up as well, and Im just better with it than the pistol

lolwut
millions of people buy it because its a great game, for hardcore and not

But yeah, you know what will help all of this? Paid DLC.

I'm sure they held back on putting those in multiplayer to avoid spoilers.
