I always love the "scavenge" that occurs after someone leaves as people go grab the shit they always wanted but couldn't take. Recently a co-worker quit from where I work and I was over in his cube just moments after he walked out the door. I got a sweet stapler and a very cool post-it note organizer. The funny thing was, within about 2 minutes, 4 or 5 people were in his old cube rifling through the leftovers of his past, searching for a little gem.

I donated 40+ games and my NES to an orphanage once, well my parents made me do it since they bought me a SNES. I never wanted to, but (I know this is going to sound cheesy), but seeing the kids so happy and excited really made an impact on my 9 year old self. Now I donate about 30 cheap, used or dropped off by random people games to various hospitals and such each 20th of December.

@(Zombie) Goldwings: Hey, I love that kind of cheesy. It's certainly better than the life's-a-shit-sandwich cynical macho bullshit that's so rampant, well, everywhere.

That's a nice story. And you made me want to look into giving my used games to places in my area. It's not like I need the money from selling them used anyway - might as well pass them on.

So MTV's charity effort will be little more than sending a pile of Hannah Montana games to the soldiers in Iraq and/or some other charity? Seems like charity kindness always degrade in that manner. I'm sure the homeless and poor enjoy can after can of creamed corn as well. :p :/

@Kiriai: It's nasty stuff. I just have memories of Catholic school charity drives for the needy and seeing piles and piles of creamed corn and other generally unwanted or "lesser" food items. I know beggars can't be choosers, but just something about that seems wrong.
