@(Starman) AnalysisDialysis: Yeah, I'm in the same pond with you right now. I decided to just take the plunge and all that noise. Xenogears (the first game) had some of the best music ever composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. It will be interesting to hear different artist renditions of the tracks. #xenogears
One of my favorite JRPG's of all time with an OC remix? Well, I'm on board. The OC remix community put out allot of quality remixes that I enjoy. This remix of Terra's theme from FFVI in particular is one of them: #xenogears
HOLY PEACHES! I must go tell teh friends, Damn you OC remix and your talented peoples. Voices of the Lifestream is on CONSTANT rotate/random on my MP3 player.
Are they like going through all of SE library and like remixing albums left and right? If so...thanks guys! #xenogears
@(Starman) AnalysisDialysis: Haha, I think you're looking in the wrong place... they have a metric shitton of SE remixes... If you look at the games with the most remixes 6 of the top 10 are Square games... [ocremix.org]#xenogears
@bkchurch: It almost followed the story of Xenogears but trailed off according to Xenogears Perfect Works.
Plus the Xenogears wasn't complete in the first place. They ended up rushing the story on the second disk and game still had many unused asset if you got into debug mode. I was hoping that they would do a Xenogears complete (ep.V) with the lost content but Final Fantasy series were more popular and thus wasn't a priority for Squaresoft.
I agree though that Xenosaga was a major disappointment but in the end it'll be the only thing that we got and will get. #xenogears
Been playing it around all day, another stunning work by OCR community remixers. A Must have for fans of XenoGears... and I assume tats every single person who had a PXS. #xenogears
@Bubbleman!: If you never played it then you wouldn't know the context of the music which the story sets the mood of the player.
I would explain the game in more details but this isn't a forum and can't talk in details so you're better off asking fan sites dedicated to Xenogears/Xenosaga threads.
If you have played it then, you should know this and have the right to your opinion and should state it as such, otherwise it's flame bait.
Even other entertainment media (games/movies/tv) may have a weak point but something always stands out that imprints in your mind (the character, music, story) and have the nostalgic sets in even though they may not like the medium as a whole.
Dude, it's cool, I wasn't a big Xenogears fan either...I mean I liked it enough but I wasn't squeeing myself over it. I felt the same way about Chrono Trigger...still do.
I love, no LOVE me some Mario and the Seven Stars though, and some Mana, even a SaGa or two.
However, I respect the love Xenogears gets...I wished Xenosaga I-III wasn't so...meh. #xenogears
@Neko_Tech: I played through almost the entire game. Got about 4 hours into disc 2 and just couldn't take it anymore.
I liked how that in a lot of ways, the game had a similar "feel" to Chrono Trigger, however, the overall sum of it's parts left much to be desired.
Now, the music isn't bad, especially compared to some of the re-hashed sounding stuff you see from other RPG series like Tales and Star Ocean (motoi sakuraba really needs to step up his composing skills, his style has grown really stale) but it's still not nearly as good as Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross's music.
And for a game that took a lot of inspiration from Neon Genesis Evangelion, it could've delivered a more comprehensive storyline.
@Bubbleman!: Your not the only one who couldn't stand the 2nd disk on Xenogears. My roommate dreaded the 2nd disk and never finished the game because it has too much text to read and not enough game play.
To be honest I also didn't like the 2nd disk as much either but I do like the story and the characters so much that I continued on but after I beat the game it felt something was missing. Later I found out about the Xenogears perfect works book explaining everything in Xenogears and the creator even explained that during the second disk, they had to wrap things quickly [hence why they were text story instead of game play] because Squaresoft demanded the team to release it ASAP.
I do give them credit though, when I played the game for the first time the story and character introduction went pretty smooth overall more than most JRPGs at the time.
If it has been a while perhaps you should try to play the game again. I play it once a year despite its flaws (2nd disk). #xenogears
This has to me one of my favorite games of all time. I still have a selection of save points to some of the best moments of the game on my PS1 memcards. #xenogears
@(Starman) AnalysisDialysis: Their torrents typically have multiple formats bundled within, usually mp3, FLAC, and sometimes one other. Plus they generally draw up a full album booklet of artwork/credits/etc and throw those in. If it's any manner of multiple discs (33 arrangements, probably 2 discs then), it's bound to bloat up a bit when you account for all that. #xenogears
@(Starman) AnalysisDialysis: The torrent is mp3 and flac format. You can skip downloading the flac format if you just want mp3's and it weighs in closer to 250mb.
@(Starman) AnalysisDialysis: It includes a FLAC set as well as another set in a different format. If you use a program like utorrent, you can pick and choose the parts of the torrent you want (for example, the mp3 set!) ^^ #xenogears
I really wish Nintendo would buy the rights to Xenosaga and then re-release the first three games as a compilation, possibly all reworked to have 3's battle system since it was easily the best out of them. And then fund Monolith Soft to finish the rest of the series, including what would have been the remake of Xenogears. #xenogears
@Ueziel: You're talking about something that Nintendo simply doesn't do. And why would the Xenosaga games go to a Nintendo console? The controller isn't suited for that type of game. Furthemore, the market simply wouldn't be there.
@Slagathorian: Nintendo owns Monolith Soft, which contains most of the original Xenogears (and Chrono Cross) team. That'd be why it'd go to them now. Most of the Xenogears team's actually working on the RPG Monado for the Wii right now.
Also, it's called a wish for a reason.
Also, lol at the controller "not being suited" for an RPG. It has more than two buttons and has a control stick. It works for RPGs. Playing Tales of Symphonia 2 using the remote was really comfortable.
@Ueziel: Nintendo doesn't buy rights to other games. You're thinking more of a Sony or Microsoft move. The Xenosaga series (though being beloved to me) didn't sell very well, and that was on a system with over a 100 million fanbase. The xenosaga series used the analogue sticks for movement, which the wii-mote doesn't have. Plus the wii-motes gets uncomfortable to hold sideways for any extended period of time, and isn't nearly as comfortable (for a standard controller setup) as the PS360 controllers.
There would be zero interest in a game such as you are suggesting. And wouldn't even sell well on the PS3 or 360, so you can forget it doing well on the wii. #xenogears
@Slagathorian: Ugh, you really don't get it. It's a WISH. A DESIRE. I don't care what the market is blah blah blah. I just want the game to exist in whichever way it can, which is currently only if Nintendo bought the rights from Namco because Nintendo already owns the team that made it. You're killin me here, Smalls.
And trust me, I know aaaaalll about Xenosaga, Xenogears, whatever. I know the entire everything about it. You don't need to explain anything to me.
The wii remote + nunchuk would work just fine for controlling everything. + for menu, - for map, A for accept and B for cancel with movement on the analog stick. It all works just fine for Tales, Opoona, Arc Rise Fantasia, Little King's Story, Rune Factory: Frontier, Baroque and any other RPG you could come up with that's on the system.
@Ueziel: Ueziel, I wouldn't be a very good friend if I ever gave you false hope. I just don't want to see your dreams squashed dood. If I told you that my wish was, for a non-touch control option for the DS Zelda games, I'd want you to set me straight and tell me is isn't ever going to happen.
FYI, the controls you mentioned in that list of games. Hardly fine. In fact they were terrible. (mind you I've never played Opoona or Little Kings Story)
Face it, the Wii controller was designed for motion control. It completely suffers when asked to be a standalone controller with an analogue. And if it didn't, then there wouldn't be such thing as the classic controller. #xenogears
@Slagathorian: No...it works perfectly fine. If you haven't played Opoona or Little King's Story, I highly doubt you've ever played Baroque, or Rune Factory and you haven't played Arc Rise because it doesn't exist here yet. And yeah, it worked perfectly fine in Tales.
Go ahead, tell me how it was terrible in Tales, as it's the only game out of the list that you've conceivably played.
Honestly, don't even respond. That's not even the point of what I said. I know you'll just go on and on in trying to find ways to put down the Wii because that's what you do, and that's not what this is about.
Just leave it at "Xenogears is awesome! I wish they could make another game for it!"
@Ueziel: AHA!, that's where you are wrong. I have played arc rise. Obviously you've never heard of a torrent site. But even if I didn't pirate the game, that still doesn't change the fact that I could have easily imported it. But that is besides the point, I could sit here and talk about events or characters from those games, yada yada, yada, but with google, me siting here trying to prove to you that I've played those games would be pointless. So lets go back to our original topic. The wii-mote and nunchuk were never designed to be used like a regular controller. Just like the sixaxis was never designed to be used as a motion controller. Can you imagine trying to play Bayonetta on the wii-mote and nunchuk? It would be freaking ridiculous. On a similar note, wii sports would be ridiculous if it were played with the sixaxis.
"I know you'll just go on and on in trying to find ways to put down the Wii because that's what you do,"
And how is it different than you going around and having bum-intercourse with the wii in every post? This thread had nothing to do with the Nintedo, you started it and I just replied. #xenogears
@Slagathorian: Uh, I wasn't. And I don't. And it did have something to do with Nintendo because I brought up the fact that that they own the team behind it and are the only hope for anything new from it because I wish we would get another Xenosaga game. What you're doing is completely different and it's really sad.
I love the "never designed to be used like a regular controller" though. Yeah that's certainly why Mario Galaxy controls just fine. And why tons of games control just fine with no motion controls in them at all. Oops. And honestly, if you have played Arc Rise and you're still trying to tell me that it doesn't work just fine, there's really no hope for you. I don't even know what magic land you live in or what claw-like appendages you have for hands but it's ridiculous.
And it still doesn't matter because that's not the point and you're just trying to slog this down into a bigger fanboy flamewar. Again. Like you always do.
In any case, I'm done with this. You've managed to pretty much ruin the possibility of anything good coming out of this comment thread.
@Ueziel: yes, but aren't you the one who said that touching the top or the left side of your monitor doesn't create a situation where your view becomes impeded.
@Slagathorian: It doesn't. I sit at least 2 ft from my monitor and it's a 23" monitor and it's somewhat raised so crossing my right arm over to touch the left side of screen covers up basically nothing. Same with touching the top. And thanks to any form of visual memory, it's not hard to remember what was in the tiny spot I do cover.
Thanks for continuing to flamebait though. #xenogears
@UberScytheLord: The only way that will happen is if you were rich and you funded your own money to make it happen. Also you might have trouble having the original team to make such feat.
Other possible option is to build a time machine and make FF7 a total flop so Xenogears might have gotten the recognition it deserved. #xenogears
Xenogears is simply an amazing RPG. Arguably the greatest story in any game and has one of the greatest soundtracks, this game was sadly overlooked because of the hype-engine that was FF7. Seriously, play it. There are simply too many ways out there to get the game for it to be this overlooked. #xenogears
@shivstroll: It wouldn't matter if it's torrent or not if you can't access their site to grab the torrent file to begin with but surprisingly it's still up and now I has it. #xenogears
@Neko_Tech: I think this would have to get dugg to take their servers down... and let's be honest, there aren't enough people who are really into xenogears or videogame music even there I suspect. #xenogears
@shivstroll: After I've listen to it, most of the music lost its soul. I'm debating on keeping the whole completion or just save the ones that I'd listen to.
Part of me wants to keep it all so I would have an excuse to buy a bigger hard drive. #xenogears
@Neko_Tech: I've only listened to Humans so far but it's hit or miss (many of there albums are... it's tough to have 20 excellent tracks on one disc). I don't think any of it has lost it's soul though. Some of it has even more soul.
The thing I like about the ocremix community is that some of these guys and gals really take these simple chiptune songs, take the basic theme and emotion, and really push them and expand them to an even higher level. A couple of these track do just that. #xenogears
@shivstroll: The ones that urkked me is the ones that had the singing mostly. Couple of them I couldn't even connect to the original. I do however like 16 tracks out of the whole collection so I guess it isn't that bad. #xenogears
@Neko_Tech: I think the singing in any of the ocremix stuff is usually eh because we just don't associate a lot of these songs with lyrics or any vocal component. #xenogears
I really wish they'd release Xenogears on the US PSN already. I've been wanting to play it forever, but I know as soon as I drop the big bucks for it on eBay, they're going to sell it in the PSN store for like $10. And then I'll be mad at myself forever. #xenogears
@dxgirly: Nay, it's one of those games that you wouldn't have a problem owning a digital and hard copy. I have 2 copies of it [black label] and I'm still waiting for the PSN version (whenever that will happen).
Each year it'll be harder and harder to find such rare jem. It'll also be more expensive too, especially if they never (re)release it.

Glorious game remixes, here I come! :D
Now if only they would create an Earthbound or MOTHER 3 remix, then I'd be happy. ^__^

Only 19 songs so far, but it's a start.

But damn, that is kind of a small selection. :[

Guilty, I'm a fan of FFVII....I know that's borderline a cardinal SIN on the internets (God the FFVI fanboys....) LOL!
My favourite remixed song is "Don Corneo I'm ready to fight!" by Master Hatchet. #xenogears

LOL! OC has a poorly designed site...don't feel so bad. #xenogears

I'm going to check that song out. Thanks!
[For those of you who are wanting to listen to this song and others like it, it can be found here: [www.rpgamer.com] ]
Retrospective: I really enjoyed that song, even though the 'metal' feel really isn't my thing. Thanks, Rachel!
