Only six will fit on a memory stick? What size memory stick? As far as I remember, there isn't one universal memory stick (like the memory card) for the PS2; It'd be much easier if they'd just let you know the general size of the quests; because if I were to go, and take an empty 4gb stick, and -that- couldn't hold all the MH quests, well then I'd be impressed, and a bit annoyed.
@Blyr wants Disgaea 2: and to add to that they don't take up space, they just have a limit to how many you can have active, so when you get a new one you have to get rid of an old one
@Blyr wants Disgaea 2: The quests are scripts the data is pulled from the umd (like monster, location, etc.) the game just only lets you hold 6 event quests on a mem-stick.
@iEro-Sennin: There are literally hundreds of different weapons for each of the 11 weapon types (Sword n Shield, Long Sword, Great Sword, Dual Swords, Lance, GunLance, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Bow, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun) and each of the weapons serves a different purpose.
No one character can be a master of a single weapon type, you have to be versed in multiple weapons to survive, just as no single weapon of any type is the be all, end all for that type different versions of a weapon type have different strengths and weaknesses.
To tack on more quests is one thing (downloadable quests are usually specifically created for 2-4 player parties), but to tack on some new weapons which would likely be more powerful would ruin the balance of the game.
I've never played the new monster hunter...but as a huge cat lover I'm always a little uneasy when I have to fight cats in a game. Animal abuse in general is something I have trouble with in games. And yes, I know there may be some kind of irony in that I take glee in headshotting a crapload of human beings but flinch at shooting an animal, I get it.
@Mister Jack is Stalking Konata: look at it on the bright side, at least for the rest of the game you will have feline buddies that follow you in battle, live at your place, cook for you, take damage in battle to help you... uhm... yes there might actually be some kind of animal abuse in there, cat labor doesn't sound right.
@MooglesInMyFace:You go out on quests with very large weapons to kill even larger monsters, carve them up, and use their parts to make even better weapons. It's all realtime combat, almost entirely based on player skill(there are no experience points or levels or anything) and it can be extremely difficult at times. You can play with up to 4 people locally or, if you have a PS3, you can use software from the Japanese PSN to play online.
@Mister Jack is Stalking Konata: It is supposed to hit the NA PSN at some point, but Sony seems to be taking their time doing it for whatever reason. I thought it would hit when MHFU came out since they made a point of stating that MHFU would work with it but I guess they had better things to do.
There's also something called Xlink Kai or something that lets you play ad hoc PSP games through your PC, but I don't know anything about that.
Why would you compare such vastly different things? It's like saying "What's better? A Machine Gun, or a Steak Dinner?"
Anyway, I'd go with MH. I work at GameStop, and we've been seeing a lot of people return FN:R4, not even a couple of days after getting it. To me, that tells me something is wrong with it.
@VenomIreland: God, every time I see someone whine that Monster Hunter doesn't have lock-on I cringe. Locking on to enemies would destroy this game. They need to go play Phantasy Star and stop trying to ruin the fun for people who don't suck.
@WarlordPayne: While I play PSO/PSU, I'm not opposed to clobbering something the old fashioned way. I think lock on game should always give you a manual option if you want to use it.
@Billkwando bought his tickets for Hyde's US tour: I've played PSO and PSU, too, and they are fun. It's just that when people complain about things like the lack of lock on or how long it takes to drink health potions all I hear is: "I want Monster Hunter to play like Phantasy Star" and it frustrates me endlessly. It's like saying Gran Turismo needs red shells and banana peels.
Not REALLY that interested in a PSP-Go and I am almost more interested in a 2000 over a 3000, but this bundle have me interested. Any price? I'd love a silver PSP and that game, even if the rest of the stuff are pretty "meh"
@microhenry: It most definitely will be. I'm on the fence about the Go (all I want is something that can stream my music without the stupid RSS feeds, dammit!), but I'm all up for more downloaded games.
The PSPGo! has no plans of being able to play old UMD games.
AND, *ALL* PSP's will be able to download all of the new games from the PSP store. So all you need is like a 16GB Memory Stick Duo card and a PSP that can play UMD's and then you can play ALL of what the PSP will have to offer. Even in the future when digial downloads are the way to go!
I will not get a PSPGo! Because I will not be able to play UMD games or movies on it. I am just going to upgrade my memory stick. I do have a 4GB now so I don't know when I will upgrade, but I will.
@VladMalice: I actually talked to a guy who didn't know anything about downloadable PS1/PSP games at all. He thought that only launch PS3s could play PS1 games that were downloaded or on the disc, and he didn't know about the PS store on the PSP at all.
Sony has a real problem when it come to advertising features.

As for the quests, sure is good news but how about some weapons or so?
I don't see how anyone could want more quests when they haven't even finished the ones on the disk.

Imagine Harvest Moon meets Final Fantasy meets Turok meets [insert fantasy MMO] meets Diablo meets Cooking Mama.
That's what MH is.
It's hard to describe MH as it's a very "unique" game with elements from a bunch of different genres and games.
I suggest you to download the demo on PSN.
PS: Warlord Payne summed it up nicely.

I've seen people train their cats in to the hundreds in attack and defence, at that point they are far more than fodder.
Also, anyone who doesn't work for Gamespot who has played Monster Hunter should love it, except also for idiots who need a lock-on and "magic".
