And with that information it does... nothing? I was hoping it was one of those 4D chairs, where the 4th dimension is cah-razy effects like real wind and water blowing at your face while you play!
Well, okay, not hoping, but I had assumed it was in some way more beneficial to your playing experience, even if only by condescending gimmick.
@Alternate: SSHD blows my mind: Yeah, you cant imagine how hard it is for those developers to get the feeling of immersion right when it comes to blowing up a gas tank near an enemy. (intended for use on the RE5 demo.)
Knowing little to nothing about FEAR (is it really an acronym for anything?), this trailer reminded me of Half-Life 1 in all sorts of good ways, and even in obscure ways like the events of HL1 chronologically (aside from the events in Xen, which are disconnected from the rest of the timeline) ending with Black Mesa being nuken.
There were also shades of System Shock 2, especially with those monkey-things. And laugh all you want, but for some reason the scariest thing in that trailer was the brief image of a female figure in a doorway...mostly because zombie-like female opponents in any game terrify me more than anything else thanks to System Shock 2's midwives.

To those who already played the first one, she is mad mostly due to her inhumane treatment for her physic powers and giving birth to two babies before she was even 18. Then they took her babies away and she is pretty much pissed off even more.
My solution.
Buy her a new dress, something not red. Some shoes because it is a pain to walk around in barefeet all the time. Finally, a new hair cut, I know what it is like to have hair to obstruct your vision.
And maybe some icecream to top it off. And probably get the Point Man back to her. Somehow, I would think that would make things worse.
xD
Anyway, I am looking forward to this game. I played the demo (PC) and it was great. Needed more flesh shredding, blood, and gore though. So far, I did get good startles, so thumbs up from me.
@RtFusion: You would probably want the dress to be a nice calming color like seafoam green. Of course when you explain to he why her son is like 10 years older than her she will probably just rip your face off.
I was pleasantly impressed by the demo, myself. Sure, it's mostly the same old flashing lights and sudden shocks tactics at play, but they did a great job with them. It was good to see some subtler touches as well, like the TVs displaying indoctrination videos from the 80s and the out-of-sync slide projector. Plus the environment set pieces are head-and-shoulders above those of the original, like when the bus fell into the subway. I'm certainly looking forward to it.
*yawns* The hallucinations need to actually bear consequence. Watching something "freaky" happen just for the sake of happening got old like 3 FEARs ago. Needs more consequence, less feeling like a blockbuster shooter with a time-slow gimmick.
@-MasterDex-: Come on now. Suggesting an alternative when someone doesn't like a game is hardly spam. Especially since the reasons Dead Giveaway didn't like FEAR are reasons he/she would probably like Condemned. For me the opposite is true, but I'm willing to acknowledge that people could have different priorities and tastes.
No, it's spam because he replied to more than 3 people saying "Try Condemned".
FEAR 1 was freaky, but not scary and really just had a bunch of 'cheap scares' that make you flinch. The game was still good, though. But it could've been better.
FEAR 2 looks even less scary and seems to focus more on modern FPS games. and I find that very depressing. Though I'll probably eventually get the game once it goes down in price to about 30 bucks or so. I still need to beat the first one without using cheats and such, too.
@Dead Giveaway: I thought F.E.A.R. was scary, but it was the first scary game I ever played... People said that Doom 3 was scary and I didn't find anything about it scary at all... it was just dark... but yeah, it is a lot less scary when you are walking around with a minigun...
@Bergerac: I think too much is expected from 'scary' games or games labeled as horror.
In my opinion, 'scary' comes on a few different levels. There's the sudden frights and they can catch even the most fearless or alert gamers, F.E.A.R did that kind of 'scary' great. Then there are the freaky/eerie kind of scares that just wierd you out, prime examples being Silent Hill and Project Zero/Fatal Frame. The final type of 'scary' game comes in the classic survival horror and Resident Evil did that great.

FEAR = First Encounter Assault Recon
A team used to fight off weird paranormal stuff if they threaten homeland security.

Also, F.E.A.R wasn't all about watching freaky things happen. There's plenty of survival fears and intense battles to be found in the game.

It's hard to get scared when you have such powerful weapons AND the ability to slow down time.
