The series always has been a favorite of the Avid FPS gamer. Ever since the Original back in 2003.
But the gateway game for the series to the majority of players Was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. As a long time fan i was skeptical if it would do well since the series has always been a historical shooter. While i was greatly impressed with it, i still chart Call of Duty 2 as my all time favorite FPS.
I'm also proud to say that i'm not what some people on the net would call a Modern Fanboy, as they will only play 4 or Modern Warfare 2 and will denounce the rest of the series as "Generic WWII shooter garbage" without even playing it.
I've pretty much bought even Call of Duty game made, even the horrible PSP one, because i love this series whether it be set during the greatest conflict in Human history, or be a fictional war set next sunday A.D.

Now I see Modern Warfare 2 and can't even begin to think what my children will be playing.
Should prove an interesting place, the world, in a few more years.

There is no way that a soldier carrying only a pistol and a knife runs the same speed as one carrying a machine gun, 2 grenades, a rocket launcher, some C4, a sofa, and the groceries.
Everyone talks about how realistic it is but they are ignoring major points.
-You get shot? You will be better in about 20 seconds if you hide in that corner over there.(Who needs medics?)
-Hey lets call in a airstrike (AND NO ONE ON YOU TEAM DIES FROM FRIENDLY FIRE!!!YAY!)
-The worst comes from CoD MW2. Tactical Nukes. WHAT THE F*CK.

If you want your teammates to die when you call in an air strike play Hardcore. They will die.
Have you heard of a nuclear bomb before? If you drop it that on a battle field guess what, GAME OVER FOR EVERYONE!!!!. Everyone dies.
Just remember that IT IS A VIDEO GAME!!!

We've had Flower, Braid, the whole Wii system, Demon Souls, Mirror's Edge, and many others in the past few years.
I don't think we're going to see nothing but Halo's and MW2's on the shelves any time soon, or at all. Not when Assassin's Creed 2 sells as well as it has been.

Square-Enix and Capcom, take note. You're making great games, but you're missing the second part. People want quality AND quantity.
11/27/09
Unless the developers had something like an unlimited budget and manpower. But that's like turning on infinite money and fast build in an RTS; it's cheating.

Time makes great games. The more you have the better the game should be. At least that's how I look at the gaming industry. COD: MW2 could have been so much better if they took an extra year. Sure you can say that about almost every game but when you release a game running on the same engine as the previous iteration from 2 years ago it just looks cheap and inferior to almost everything else on the market as far as visuals go. COD's game play is awesome though I have to give it that. Personally I won't drop a dime on MW2 until it drops in price regardless of how good the online is the rest of the game is mediocre at best IMO. More time and this years COD could have been one of the greatest games of all time such as COD4 MW was MW2 didn't have half of the "OMG WTF JUST HAPPENED THIS LOOKS AMAZING " the first one had.

They released DMC4, RE5, SF4, SSF4, Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2, and etc. I would say Capcom is working at the same pace they've always have.

That's 5 games in 7 calendar years.
Between 2003 and 2009 Capcom has released Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5.
That's 2 games in 7 calendar years.

Well, if you're only going to do that, then yes, Capcom is slower...especially since RE is no longer in the prime of its life like in the PSX days.
However, it seems pretty silly to me to consider whether a company is slow or not based on how many installments they're releasing in one of their major franchises when the same company has been releasing multiple other games that are just as popularity, and sell just as well as that one franchise.

MW2 is good, but for all intents and purposes it is just CoD4 recycled. The new weapons are basically just reskinned versions of old weapons, the maps really aren't that great and hell wasteland is a direct rip of a CoD2 map! The gameplay hasn't really advanced and the although good the online system hasn't improved much at all. Considering the RRP in the UK was a colossal £55 i do honestly think that MW2 has been one of the least value for money games i have played this gen.

@KaneBaker: It is a good map, it's just the fact that it is totally recycled which i think is BS.

I'm sure they held back on putting those in multiplayer to avoid spoilers.

How about a PS3 so they can raid all the cheap games on the market for the next year?

N+ (sure it's been out years but it's still one of the best games on the market and it never gets coverage)
Street Fighter IV was defo one of the better ones missing from the list. Other than that, I am struggling.
Still though, that's a rather impressive list of games (providing you pay out for xbox live, otherwise most of them are gonna be a big let down)
It's just a shame so many got delayed like Splinter Cell, man I can't wait for that game.

Either way, it was a joke but if it wasn't, why do you think console sales are at their highest across the Christmas period?
Must be a bunch of people buying it for themselves right?

Still have a little tough time believing most people's partners and parents can spend 300+ dollars on a gift for anyone. But that's just cause I lack the funds to be most people.
