Undiscouraged, Mini Bash Creates Seven Origami Lites

After SOME ADULT upstaged four-year old Mini Bash, he spent the rest of the evening, trying to perfect his origami DS Lite. He noticed mistakes in his design — like the lack of a Dpad. What's more, he selected pink paper to match our pink DS Lite. He made seven total, not including the sheet of paper he tried to color black so he could have a black DS Lite, but then gave up. Not sure why he made seven. Perhaps he thinks if he looks at them all quickly, they'll move. Check back next week when SOME ADULT reads more books than Mini Bash and kicks his ass in counting to ten.

Mini Bash's DS Brought to Life

Someone has taken Mini Bash's origami DS and made it real! Over at Newgrounds, artist zikayn writes:

I was bored over Easter and after reading something about a kid making his own DS out of paper, I decided to try and make one of my own, surprisingly it actually started working...

Mini Bash response: "Why does his move, but mine doesn't?" Because zikayn is a witch, that's why.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Gets "Pokemon Trainer"

And the next Super Smash Bros. Brawl character is... Pokémon Trainer. Yup. That's what the English Smash Bros. DOJO!! site is calling him. And that's what the Japanese DOJO!! site is calling him, too. This excitingly bland character doesn't fight directly, but "watches from the background" uses three Pocket Monsters: Squirtle, Ivyasaru and Charizard. A special move called the "Pokémon Change" is used to switch between them. Being a Trainer, the Pokémon Trainer doesn't directly fight, but watches the brawl. Yup, Nintendo just unveiled a spectator. Watch Pokemon, Get Pokemon

This is neat. No, this is clever — sneaky, even. At the Pokémon I saw over over the weekend, DS and Pokémon Diamond and Pearl owners received a free Darkrai pocket monster download. The entire theater was filled with kids — kids with DSes! Before the movie, there were also a couple Wii and DS game ads. Guess who was annoyed with me for A). Not bringing the DS Lite to the theater and B). For not buying Diamond and Pearl? Boy, these Pokémon Company people know what the heck they're doing!

Pokemon, The Breakfast Pizza

This morning, Mini Bash ingested the above "pizza bread." Pokémon bread isn't so unusual here in Japan, but this was the first time that I'd seen Pokémon pizza bread. And it didn't disappoint — it had the standard Japanese pizza topping: corn. What is it with pizzas here and corn? And mayo?

A Mario To Blow Your Nose On

Like Bon Jovi and the Carpenters, handkerchiefs are still big in Japan. In fact, when Mini-Bashcraft goes to school, he has to have a handkerchief in his pocket. Yes, that's what the school said! Guess they don't want him wiping snot on his sleeve or other children. So, to spice up boring handkerchiefs, patches are usually sewn or ironed on. And in this case, Mario. More »

Mini Bash Gets His First Club Nintendo Schwag

Back in February, my kid got his first Club Nintendo card. And earlier today, he got his first Club Nintendo schwag: A Mario hat-shaped DS case. He picked it out, and it fits my his cracked DS Lite perfectly! I'm still baffled why Nintendo of America doesn't have a Club Nintendo... It's neat and a nice thank you.
