Konami Gamer's Night '08

Konami hosted their Gamer's Night last evening in San Francisco, hot on the heels of Sega's Gamer's Morning and Ubisoft's Gamer's Afternoon. It had already been a long day by the time I arrived and my brain was already ful of tons of other games. This didn't stop Konami from making quite an impression with a few key announcements. Be sure to check back shortly for all the news including an MGS 4 secret weapon, a new Castlevania game for the DS, my Silent Hill V hands on, the Rock Revolution announcement and more!

Secret MGS4 Character Leaked?

We've seen a teaser that suggests that Metal Gear Solid 4 will feature significant flashbacks to the story's early days, so it's possible that everyone's favorite tragic soldier-turned-despot will show up alongside the other blasts from the past. But Big Boss is dead for good, right?

New MGS 4 Gameplay Footage Airs Tonight

X-Play's going to be showing off some "never-before-seen" gameplay footage from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PlayStation 3 tonight.

The folks over at the G4 show promise no teaser trailers, no cinematics, just 100 percent brand new in-game footage. If you're up for that sort of thing make sure to catch it tonight at 8 p.m. on G4. They show will also have some new gameplay of Silicon Knight’s Too Human for the Xbox 360 and hands-on with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Xbox 360.

Will MGS 4 Feature Playable MGS Flashbacks?

When glorious June 12th arrives, playing as Old Snake might prompt many Metal Gear Solid fans to think back on his youth in the series' earlier installments. This latest video flashes back to MGS 1, then shows our boy in his prime during Super Smash Bros. Brawl — and follows up with footage of a young Snake in MGS 4, traversing Shadow Moses in what seems to be a dream sequence. It ends with Kojima being coy as always — will MGS 4 let us play scenes from earlier games in the form of Snake's memories? Thanks, FILASIFER!

Two New MGS Products Revealed Tonight

Tomorrow, I'm making a day trip up to Tokyo for the Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary party.

What to expect? Metal Gear Online getting its world debut, an on-stage MGS4 play through with series creator Hideo Kojima and two new MGS products being unveiled.

There will be other things as well, like live music, a talk show and some cool videos of the Metal Gear history! Promise. It's at the Ritz Carlton, so look forward to people in fancy suits eating fancy foods. Do check back for our coverage tomorrow.
