Metal Gear Online Goes Icebound With Old Friend

Today, Konami is releasing a new stage and an old character for Metal Gear Online.

The third expansion for MGO's "SCENE EXPANSION" brings Metal Gear Solid 4's "Old Snake" to the fight as well as a new stage "Icebound Inferno". The stage is MGS4's windy blizzard Shadow Moses stage.

Metal Gear Online Bikinis Are Online

To celebrate the first anniversary of Metal Gear Online, Konami has provided very special DLC: Bikinis. Just in time for summer!

Players will need to have at least the GENE Expansion to download the bikini outfits. You can check out the bikinis in action right here.

Metal Gear Online Stand Alone Confirmed, Access Numbers Announced

Over the weekend, MGS4 creator Hideo Kojima did a whirlwind autographing tour of Japan. After hitting America and Europe, we've covered this plenty! New bits: At the Yokohama Yodobashi Camera event, Kojima talked up Metal Gear Online, saying:

Domestically, the one-day peak time is 11pm with 12,000 players playing online simultaneously. Worldwide, we've seen about 100,000 connect [to MGO].

Famitsu confirmed the standalone version of Metal Gear Online, which goes on sale for ¥1,800 (US$17) on July 17th.

PlayStation Gamer Advisory Panel members ought to check (and re-check) their spam filters, as they may be on the receiving end of an unsolicited Metal Gear Online beta invite. Our helpful tipsters—who moonlight as lucky bastards—have already been notified that they'll be able to participate without having to pre-order Metal Gear Solid 4. Good thing Sony and Konami waited until (most of) the bugs were shaken out before distributing to GAPers. Oh, that's a horrid name for it...
