Only 10 hours for the campaign? That really sucks, even if it's 10 hours of awesomeness. The only saving grace is that it would have to have a huge amount of replayability. I remember when I bought Dead Space on the day of release, went home and beat it in one day. I never felt so screwed. I didn't think there was enough diversity in the enemies, and it certainly wasn't packed with the level of replayability that I thought it was going to have. Since then, I've been extremely careful about what new games I buy for $60. #metro2033
This game is still around? I remember E3 2005, when they first showed this off... Wow. Hope it doesn't bomb, because that's a long time to spend for something that doesn't sell... #metro2033
so, wait..the gas mask face shield shatters? Pretty much all of them are pliable plastic nowadays. Also, why do you have to scavenge for more masks?
I guess they might just be throwaway escape masks, so I hope there's a permanent upgrade with interchangeable filters.
I'm also kind of wondering what the masks are needed for anyway...the coughing and sputtering can't be because of particulate radiation an definitely not for beta and gamma emitters.
I'm so confused that I didn't even want to finish reading the preview. :(
It seems like another 'radiation is magical' story.
I wasn't a big fan of Fallout 3 but this looks great and I'd be willing to give it a shot. I'm not sure I'll like the lack of scenery change though, it seems too many games are going with the bland postapocalyptic settings these days....Maybe it's a sign of the times. #metro2033
I've never heard of this, but damn, this looks like it could be a whole lot of fun! How does the 3D work though for PC? Do they include 3D glasses? #metro2033
<3 3D vision with this game. Minimalistic HUDs are my favorite. Thanks for your article, AJ. The more I learn about this game, the more I'm looking forward to it. I just wish it sounded like there was some more freedom of movement like in STALKER. #metro2033
But yeah, it certainly looks like a gorgeous STALKER clone, and I mean that in a great way. I love obscure games, I hope this one turns out great. #metro2033
i am keeping my eye on this game... i love that it wont have a HUD, it sounds like it could be very good.... sad though that everyone will just act like "ugh another post-apocalyptic game" and just compare it to fallout 3... i dont at all, in fact from all ive seen of it so far it just reminds me of S.T.A.L.K.E.R which i also loved.... hopefully it won't be really buggy :S
the 3D option sounds cool, would love to try that someday but dont really see myself investing in new hardware for my PC yet #metro2033
Sounds interesting.. Not a fan of Nvidia's 3d gaming, gives me a headache whenever text pops up. Though I use the paper ones that came with my card, can't afford to special ones that need the special monitor and special receiver. #metro2033
Buying this simply for a 3D videogame experience will be tempting. Though, one of the things that kind of is a put-off to me is the stress level. I love difficult games, but only because after the intense stress there is a cathartic release (beating a boss in Demon Souls, for example). In this, it dosn't seem like you ever get that though, since the environment is insurmountable. At best, you can simply get by. I, personally, need to dominate.

This game is a freaking steal for $5. I love the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, as well as the movie Stalker, and the book 'Roadside Picnic' by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. Damn good stuff!!!! #stalkershadowofchernobyl
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. originates with the novel 'Pick-nick on the side of the road' by Boris & Arkady Strugartzky
The premise is that aliens came & had a little pick-nick, didn't pay any attention to the locals, then left.
People would be the park critters rooting through the half-empty refuse left behind. #stalkershadowofchernobyl
I wish I had a decent desktop machine. My laptop will run this game, but very poorly, even with everything turned down. And I hate trying to aim with the track-pad.
@Hotzu: No, it's OK. I already bought the disc version for about $5 on clearance. I just can't play it on any of my (weak) machines. #stalkershadowofchernobyl

Well, yeah, it can be a "clone" or uninspired or a rehash, it cant however be a ripoff... I think.
Although this game, to me, doesnt seem to be any of those, from all the info I've found, I cant wait!
also, does anyone know how long this has been in development? Wasnt it shown at E3 years back? #metro2033
