"For the first time in history," writes the creators of Headbang Hero, "a wireless motion-sensing wig is used as a game controller." God, I was wondering if I'd ever live to see that day.

We just got sent this in tips by Tiago Martins, who created Headbang Hero along with Andreas Zingerle and Ricardo Nascimento. The concept is simple - Thrash the Wiigmote in time with the beat and rack up points.

Know what I love about this? Just as Rock Band has convinced me I can play guitar, this will convince me I still have hair.

Says the development trio:

This is the first complete prototype of Headbang Hero, an interactive project by Tiago Martins, Andreas Zingerle and Ricardo Nascimento. It's a kind of tribute to the popular Guitar Hero game and headbangers all around the world.

Also, for the first time in history a wireless motion-sensing wig is used as game controller.

The hardware is based on the Arduino platform; the software is based on the Processing environment and the Minim library. Stay tuned for more!

Oh you know what's coming next, right. Headbanger Hero: World Tour, which gives you the Power Glove attachment so you can go into overdrive with the devil horn salute.

<![CDATA[All Metal Music Game Being Forged]]> Not enough metal for you in Guitar Hero and Rock Band? How about a music game that is completely metal? Visual effect consultants EBT3 Creations and talent management company Indevent USA have formed a new multi-media company called Reign Productions, and their first project is said to be a multi-million dollar video game containing nothing but metal. Details are scant at the moment, pending a major announcement regarding the project at the annual NAMM global music products show in Anaheim, California in January, but the game will apparently feature artist cameos as well as the formation of a metal supergroup within the game.

Having long lost touch with what exactly is considered to be metal these days, I am not sure whether to be excited, amused, or terrified.

<![CDATA[ Coming Soon had a chance to speak with producer...]]> Coming Soon had a chance to speak with producer Michael De Luca (21, Ghost Rider) and he passed along news that a Metal Gear Solid movie, based off the long-running hit espionage video game franchise, is once again going ahead. The project has been in the very early stages for sometime (see eerily similar Slashfilm post from Feb ‘07), and faced a set back from the writer’s strike. Moreover, De Luca says that a meeting will take place in the “next few weeks” with writer/director Kurt Wimmer about adapting a screenplay for the film.

Though De Luca didn’t directly state it, this probably means that Wimmer is also up to direct the big budget affair, as his previous films, Equilibrium starring Christian Bale and Ultraviolet starring Millo Jovovich, were similar fanboy-intensive, kinetic action/genre flicks. Neither one of those films connected at the box office, however, so MGS would be the director’s closest shot at bagging a sure thing, the whole video game curse notwithstanding. Wimmer’s next screenplay to hit the big screen will be April’s LAPD thriller Street Kings with Keanu Reeves.

Video game synopsis: Metal Gear Solid follows Solid Snake, a retired soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons disposal facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from FOXHOUND, a renegade special forces unit.

<![CDATA[Turok Pre-order Gift is Fangtastic]]> Kotakuite matthewpaul93 sends in this pic of the toothy pre-order gift he got from his local Game Crazy for pre-ordering Turok. If I had to choose I would probably take the $10 gift card for pre-ordering the game from Circuit City but the large silver fang does have its charms. So, if you have a penchant for metallic orthodontia or need to fill in that gap in your smile, head over to Game Crazy and pre-order your copy of Turok now!

<![CDATA[MGS4: 5 Locations and Live Action Open?]]>

As Luke reported last week, we now know three of the locations in Metal Gear Solid 4: the Middle East, South America and Eastern Europe. But there's more: When I was interviewing Ryan Payton for last week's Game Head at the E For All Expo, he also let slip that there are two other top-secret locations.

Any guesses as to the other two locales? Here's one comment from Ryan that didn't make the Game Head show: "The last location is a place you've been waiting to visit for 20 years."

Also, Ryan mentions that the opening sequence for the game will include live action footage mixed with CGI. It's being created by Logan, the design firm behind the iPod ads and the Metal Gear Solid 4 logo.

<![CDATA[Dragon Force - Insane Shredding Combos!]]>

Sorry, Saturn fans. This is NOT a post about the excellent turn-based SRPG Dragon Force, but a quick diversion for fans of the speed metal cheeseball shredders from across the pond. Upping the cheese factor once again amidst all the lightning quick squealing of guitars and vocals, Dragon Force does their famous picture-in-picture soloing, but this time with a fighting-game schtick. It's impressive how the effects go from average to laughable during this portion of the video.

Oh, Dragon Force. You are my guilty pleasure!

Thanks for the tip, Henry.
