I bought this soundtrack years ago when the game first came out. I had to import it, of course. It's fantastic - worth the price of the game, itself.

I'm a MegaTen fan but I don't have a PSP, so I'm unfortunately gonna have to miss out on this one.

Oh well, the original Persona was the worst in the series anyway. They're fixing the localization, which is great, but they can't exactly spin straw into gold unless they're seriously reworking the battle system, which I don't believe they are.

@Stormrider: The battle system's just being tweaked, yeah, not fully remade. I actually like P1 more than P3 or P4 though because I don't ever feel like I'm MISSING anything in P1. P3 and P4 are nervewracking since you have to plan everything out in advance to avoid getting fucked over.

Especially if you don't want to date Chie. Eugh.

@Placentasaurus: Persona 1 is a much less daunting RPG than P3 or P4 is. You could probably beat it in a week, it's nowhere near as time consuming unless you're trying to make the ultimate Personae.

This I will try. I'm a sucker for J-RPGs on the PSP.

I'm psyched for Persona, and I'm glad they're doing the special edition thing, but it makes me sad that they redid the entire soundtrack for the game, and replaced the awesome music from the PS1 version with lame vocal shit from that hermaphrodite who sings in P3 and P4. I like epic battle music, not singing ladies. :[

One thing that sucks is the re-done soundtrack is kinda ass. :/

I had wished they kept a lot of the original music instead of trying to do up a Persona 3/4ish type of soundtrack.

@Witzbold: Eh, I like the new tracks. I have the old OST on my PC, and while some of it is freaking amazing, a lot of it is dead air. This one sounds more consistent.

Interestingly, a lot of fans don't realize that Persona was Meguro's first game OST, though he was only a contributor on it.

@Rebochan: I always found it interesting that the feel from Persona 1 carried over into SMT3: Nocturne, but NOT into P3 or P4. Which is especially odd considering Persona really isn't considered an SMT series in Japan; at least not to the degree it is here. Kinda like how Digital Devil Saga was billed as its own franchise in Japan, but got branded as SMT for the US releases.

@Archaotic: Don't fool yourself, they're all "SMT" games in the same way that Vagrant Story and FFT were Final Fantasy games. They use the same monsters, carry cameos like the Kuzunoha Detective Agency in Persona 2, Alice, and other things.

The only real difference between the majority of the Shin Megami umbrella and P3/P4 is that the character designer is different. Like how FFXIV will look and feel far different from FFXIII simply because Yoshida is the art director instead of the usual cast.

@expansionsss: I don't own a Wii and I wouldn't be so stupid/clumsy. I actually got rid of it since it was fairly crappy and I wasn't using it for along time. I had plans to get aone of those Samsung T240HD monitors but life and bills ruined that....for now.

The PSP already sports the likes of Crisis Core, Class of Heroes and Jeanne d'Arc, as well as a plethora of remakes and ports such as Star Ocean 2, Tales of Eternia and Disgaea. There are, of course, many more, and I've been rocking the PSP as my RPG portable of choice (especially given the fantastic Tactics RPGs on the console already and on the way) for a while now. This is only another bright egg in one helluva basket.
