I reckon they're much stronger pulling this kind of stunt than with more "staged" productions.

<![CDATA[Mega64: A PS3 Slim Ghost Story]]> The PS3 Slim isn't scary. Not in of itself. It's just a (heavily rumoured/expected) machine! But the story of Sony's reaction to early reports of the supposed machine, man, that's some terrifying stuff.

<![CDATA[Mega64 Beats Sony To A Shadow Of The Colossus Movie]]> Sony Pictures might as well pull the plug on their big screen adaptation of Shadow of the Colossus. Mega64's got it covered.

A true video game movie needs to distill the essence of the game into a live action setting, and well - it doesn't get much more distilled than this. You've got your hero, a colossus of dubious size, and lots of climbing and falling. That's exactly how I remember the game.

<![CDATA[The Mega 64 GDC Videos You Didn't See*]]> *That is, unless you actually attended this year's Game Developers Conference and the associate Independent Game Festival Awards, because these two skits aired during the ceremony. And they're quite good.

As good as Mega 64's Metal Gear Solid spoof? That all depends on your point of view. Particularly if you're a fan of indie gaming.

The first, "Topher Great Payens 'The GDC,'" spins a romantic musical yarn that transports the viewer to the ancient "Time of Gamings" and sings of the glory that is indie game development. The hair is fabulous and the tonguing is copious. If you don't "get it," brush up on your internet.

The second, "IF YOU'RE NOT INDIE, F**K YOU," combines the hilarity of unsuspecting people being socked in the face with a cameo from The Behemoth's Dan Paladin with the work "fuck."

<![CDATA[Metal Gear Solid Mega 64: Super Stealth Kojima]]> Mega 64 stealths their way through the streets of San Francisco, Metal Gear Solid style, until the characters they are portraying finally meet their maker.

In a brilliant callback to their 2007 Game Developers Conference Mario skit, which featured a cameo by creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Mega 64 runs into the creator of the Metal Gear series while roaming the streets of San Fran as Old Snake and badly-dressed Raiden. Unlike Miyamoto, however, Hideo Kojima reacts exactly how we'd imagine the creator of the world's premiere stealth action title would react. See what you miss when you don't read the Game Developers Choice Awards liveblog?

And then just when you think the cameos are over...

<![CDATA[Mega 64 Becomes Kotaku]]>
Adam's interview with the boys from Mega 64 takes a turn for the worse, as the video game comedy sketch team transforms into Team Kotaku.

It really is uncanny, how accurately Mega 64 portrays Crecente, Luke, Stephen Totilo, and N-Gage Croal, capturing the true spirit of Kotaku despite the fact that one of those four doesn't write for us and another doesn't technically exist. I'm was little pissed that they scooped us on the exclusive with the cleanup crew, but once I realized that technically they were us at that very moment I calmed down.

It's a bit on the long side, but completely, completely worth it.

I'm Michael Fahey, and I am totally blogging this right now.

<![CDATA[Mega64 Takes Elite Beat Agents To The Streets]]> The guys at Mega 64 are up to their old tricks again, this confusing the non-gaming public with a live-action performance of hit Nintendo DS rhythm game Elite Beat Agents.

Sometimes I have a hard time figuring out if Mega64' series of live-action video game performances is a work of genius or a work of madness. All I can think as I watch this latest clip is how utterly embarrassed I would be to be out there in public, dancing along to a rhythm game that's only playing in my head. I suppose that's why the Mega64 squad does this sort of thing...so I don't have to.

In the end, I think I had more fun trying to make out the words to Josh Jones original song, which is just enough of Steriogram's "Walkie-Talkie Man" to be recognizable, while still remaining utter nonsense. Hit up the link below to download the song as an MP3!

<![CDATA[Mega64 Brings It Home]]>

Anthony Funn from Sony tries to re-convince the general public that Playstation Home is indeed very fun. He highlights some of its actives, like waiting in line, beards, and moving stuff.

Definitely not the funniest video they've done. I would have liked to have seen more running-man dancing and derogatory comments made towards women.

<![CDATA[Mega64 Reveal The Full Extent Of LittleBigPlanet's Offensiveness]]>
Oh dear. We thought that the only offensive thing to be found in LittleBigPlanet was Sony's over-zealous policing of intellectual property laws. Looks like we were wrong. It gets a little more offensive than that. What's the matter, Media Molecule, sandwiches and/or burgers just too vanilla for you?

<![CDATA[Mega64 Takes Parappa To The Streets]]>
A person who goes into public dressed like a cartoon rapping puppy to serenade random passersby with his funky fresh beats has balls far beyond mere mortal men. If anyone is missing a pair, odds are this guy picked them up and ran off with them. One of these days one of the Mega64 boys is going to get killed, and that would be terribly sad. After all, "It's a nice day to not be in a hearse. " Tru' dat.

<![CDATA[Mega64 Interviews Keighley With Team Crecente, N'Gai, Totilo in the Wings]]> True story, Stephen Totilo, N'Gai Croal and I were walking out of a taping with Geoff Keighley when Mega64 were walking in. I was going to ask for an autograph but Marcus looked like he was recovering from an all-night coke bender and was laying into the make-up artist about his hair. He stopped yelling and looked over at me and seemed to smile, I thought it was a good sign and went over to say "Hi." But when I walked up he asked me to go get him a box of cream filled donut holes, a tub of extra smooth peanut butter and some latex gloves. So I decided it was probably time to leave.

<![CDATA[Mega64 Downloads Assassin's Creed]]> Not their best work, but it's still fun to watch the Mega64 guys trying to blend in at some sort of real world farmer's market while dressed as Altair from Assassin's Creed. The video's highlight? The failed assassination attempt on an octogenarian.

Witness Mega64 spread their comedic wings and take a shot at interviews. Interviews with people from the videogame industry, like David Jaffe. Interviews done by Marcus, a hand-puppet with the most delightful little Tom Tucker moustache. And yes, Marcus, if you can keep the remaining five episodes this charming, we'll certainly do our best to fucking care.

<![CDATA[Mega64 Fail To Beat SFII Bonus Round]]> As a kid, deep down, you know Street Fighter II's not real. Fireballs, tiger uppercuts, sonic booms, it's all ridiculous. And yet...a small part of you holds out hope that, perhaps with the right training, perhaps with the right opponent, you could recreate at least some of Capcom's ass-kicking in real life. Here's the proof that says no. You can not.

<![CDATA[Mega64's Independent Games Festival Clips Are Hilarious]]>

During the course of the handing out of awards at last week's Independent Games Festival, audiences were treated to exclusive Mega64 produced videos between acceptance speeches. They weren't the typical game parodies played out in real life, but clips that spoke to the audience on hand. The production above, shown after the intro after the jump, was my personal favorite.

For a somewhat startling, volume lowering surprise from artist Dan Paladin of Alien Hominid fame, make the jump. Just make sure the kids are out of the room.

Yeah. It certainly got everyone's attention. One more video, featuring some of Mega64's trademark public stunts, is available at the official site.

<![CDATA[Mega64 Does Super Mario Bros. 3]]>

This Mega64 clip, I swear I've seen it before. Maybe it was shown at the Game Developers Conference earlier this year, maybe it sneaked online at some point prior, or maybe I have some pre-cognitive ability to know the details of Mega64 comedy bits. Regardless, it's something the creators of this clip have labeled as new and it's Kuribo's Shoe, something I've always been fascinated by for some inexplicable reason. Please, won't you watch?
