I have watched more movies since Netflix became available on the 360 than I have in the last 5 years. Just this weekend I watched Spies Like Us, Krull and Phantasm. Coupled with PlayOn, my 360's have replaced my cable TV in the house.
I don't have cable or watch broadcast TV anymore. Streaming Netflix (with DVDs as needed) and Hulu are enough for me. I honestly wish Netflix had a non-DVD price plan.
@GarretFazniah: Indeed. It's also not too hard to stream other media you may have on your PC to PS3. There are several media server programs available for free. I can play every mp3 on my computer's hard drive on my PS3--and the PS3 is hooked up to a home theater system.
@GarretFazniah: Just properly configure PS3 Media Player or spend the well-spent 30$ on OnPlay and you'll get some pretty good streaming there. Only downfall is you really can't browse files on the page, rather you have to queue the files up first.
@Alessar: If you don't mind that little DLNA error window that pops upevery 45 seconds in the top right hand of your screen...... the PS3 is perfect for streaming content from your PC. And why can't the PS3 stream pics AND music at the same time?
The only thing I don't like about some of this direct delivery stuff is that its not "mindless." When I turn the TV on I can just surf to a random channel until something grabs me. With netflix on xbox and such I have to actually decide what I'm in the mood for. A slight and maybe silly nit pick, but that's the only reason I still have cable.
@Southrncomfortjm: That's why I like apps like the Hulu TV Beta & VeohTV, since I can start off with a random thing I like and allow the automated randomizer to take care of the rest by cycling through whatever I want.
Plus, I'm one of those guys who just does not like his 30-minute shows chopped up with 9 minutes of commercials. To each their own, but I like being productive with my vegging out, hehe.
I just subscribed to Netflix about 3 days ago so I could stream movies onto my 360. It's a great service but the watch instantly selection is lacking. Corpse Bride has been my favorite so far.
@i.roboto: US only unfortunately, they've got next to nothing for movie rental services up North (which sucks because I love Netflix and would so get it for my kids...and myself of course).
I'd love streaming video on my ps3 too, even live digital tv for that matter...if Sony got off their arse here in NZ and did something to rectify the issue.
Uh?You open the web browser of the PS3 and enter one of the free download pages out there. There you are ,streaming video on your PS3 and for free unlike that Netflix thing.Or do you prefer to pay ?
@Iberianpower: Netflix, Hulu etc are US only though. Sony's Video store is also US only. Currently in UK we have acces to a PS3 version of iPlayer or the new Vidzone, which is just music videos.
If Netflix or Hulu opened their digital borders then their services would shine, but for some reason (I think its a conflict of US copyright laws with the rest of the world) they don't go Global.

Yeah, it's got an abysmal selection of newer releases, but if you like classic films it's a goldmine.

Netflix: Rating and licenses for content.
Hulu: Location based advertising (and also licenses for content)

Sir, I have come to the conclusion that your 360 is haunted.
