A Spartan with a blue helmet, a Spartan with a blue helmet and a slightly different gun...it's a nickel and dime show.

If only you could just buy one figure, and customise it yourself...oh, like you can with this new "Halo Rogue Deluxe Armour Pack", the toy manufacturer obviously having been informed by Pantone that there aren't any more colours left to paint the same Spartan with.

It's a "blank" figure, which comes with a variety of weapon and armour configurations for you to play dress-ups with, including all the important Hayabusa gear, and should be out around March.

<![CDATA[New Figures For ODST, Halo Wars, Halo 2 & 3]]> The seventh series of McFarlane's Halo figures draws from four of the franchise's games, three of its species, numerous gaudy colours and even a little Ninja Gaiden.

Due for release in early 2010, there'll also be a weapons pack, should your diorama be lacking in duel-wielding or grenades. You'll be able to get them anywhere you can already get the previous 1,345 figures in the range.

<![CDATA[Toy Fair 2009: Dante's Inferno, Gears Of War & More]]> The New York Toy Fair kicked off over the weekend. And video games being big business and all, there were loads of new gaming figures on show. Loads.

DANTE'S INFERNO - First up, though (and these are all courtesy of Toy News International), we'll start with perhaps the most interesting figure of the weekend. Which is this one, to the left, giving us our first good look at the protagonist from EA's upcoming take on Dante's Inferno. Reminds me of Altair...if Altair had to give up the assassin business and get by selling his body. It's due sometime later in 2009

GEARS OF WAR 2 - Three new Gears of War 2 figures were on show: a Locust flamethrower, your trusty robot companion Jack and a Ticker. A surprisingly cute, buck-toothed Ticker. These guys (along with the Boomer, which wasn't pictured) will all be out later this year.

GUITAR HERO - God knows who these are intended for. They're 3-inch cartoon figures for Guitar Hero, but look more like something you'd buy from a dollar store. Seriously, Activision, McFarlane, give up on this crap already.

STREET FIGHTER - Now we're talking. The Akuma looks frightfully accurate, and the Guile, delightfully brutish, but this second wave - following up from the Ryu, Ken and Crimson Viper annouced earlier - is dominated by Chun-Li's thighs. Look at them! Kristin Kreuk, look at them!

AND THE REST...- The video game-related gear winds up with these leftovers, comprising NECA's Player Select Line and the only really new stuff McFarlane showed for their Halo line. From NECA, final (or near-final) sculpts of their Prototype and Dead Space figures, while from McFarlane, it's a first look at "Halo Stylised".

You can check out more pics, plus a full run-down of the Fair, at Toy News International.

<![CDATA[For The Halo Fan Who Has Everything: Teeny Tiny Spartan Helmets]]> Those McFarlane kids sure know how to bleed a licensing opportunity dry. Seemingly out of ideas for new Halo 3 figures, they've announced a range of tiny Halo 3...helmets.

Ostensibly for use with the company's range of 12" figures, it seems their main use will actually be just to stick on your desk, as each comes with a stand ("for flat surface or wall-mount display!") and each stand can click together to form an "impressive" MULTIDISPLAY.

Can't wait for next Christmas, when they get down to the individual crotch plate displays.

<![CDATA[Halo Wars Action Figures Are Real-Time Posable]]> New Halo game on the horizon? Better get McFarlane on the case, get some small, plastic action figures churned out. Oh, what's that? McFarlane's already on the case? How unexpected. These figures may have been announced in September, but today, here's your first good look at them. They're coming smaller (at 2.5") than the standard Halo figures, and in packs of three, and all colour-coded, because Halo Wars is an RTS, get it? Expect them in March 2009.

<![CDATA[Oh Look, More Halo 3 Figures]]> Can't tell you just how many Halo 3 figures this is from McFarlane. We've lost count. We can tell you, though, that for the first time in a long time, this is a new figure. Not a repaint, not an old figure with new weapons, it's all new. And it's a UNSC Marine, who comes with a battle rifle, a pistol and a trip mine. Should be out in March 2009, along with the other repaints/reissues in the gallery below.

<![CDATA[Yes, MORE Guitar Hero Figures]]> Because the kids can't get enough miniature plastic replicas of replica rock stars from a replica rock n' roll game. Due in stores next February, McFarlane's line of "Guitar Hero Rockers" are 2-inch, stylised versions of the game's main characters, and will be bundled in pairs. If your quarterly quota of McFarlane/Guitar Hero plastic merchandise hasn't been filled by February, they should cost you around $7.

<![CDATA[More Guitar Hero Toys Coming From McFarlane]]> Those figures of your "favourite" Guitar Hero "characters"? They're just the start of Activision and McFarlane's push to sell you more mostly-immobile hunks of Guitar Hero-related plastic. Due for release in January 2009 will be a line of customisable guitars that let you swap out the heads, necks and bodies (no word on size or price), while later in the year, there'll be more versions of the guitars, as well as 10" versions of the already-seen characters, eight more of the 6" characters (including Clive Winston and Eddie Knox) and a few lines of 2" character figures. If you're torn between just which Johnny Napalm 10" figure you'll want - the "British Flag" variant or the "Skeleton" variant - the full release (sadly, lacking any pictures) follows.

<![CDATA[Surprise, More Halo 3 Figures]]> Sure, you may have lost interest in the seemingly endless procession of Halo 3 repaints, but have others? Nunh unh. They're still buyin' 'em, so McFarlane will keep sellin' em. These five figures - two Elites, a Brute Stalker and two Spartans - are the latest to roll off the factory line, and will be available only at Wal-Mart and Toys 'R' Us.

<![CDATA[Newer, Better Halo 3 Toys]]> Look, there's nothing wrong with McFarlane's Halo line. They're nice figures. It's just, McFarlane are known for stuff with a little more size, and a little more detail, than the wee little figures they've released thus far. Now this new stuff, it's more their style. They've just announced two new lines for the end of the year: two 12" Master Chiefs (one a Wal-Mart exclusive) and the "Legendary Collection", a series of "non-articulated large-scale" figures that includes the Chief, Arbiter and a Brute Chieftain. The 12" figures are due in September, the Legendary Collection in November.

<![CDATA[A Halo 3 Spartan Straight From Hell]]> I am not allowed to go to the San Diego Comic Con this or any other year, mainly because my penchanted for buying anything plastic, articulated, and limited edition would send me to the poorhouse faster than...well, faster than my normal lifestyle, which says a lot. SDCC sees tons of limited edition toys every year, and these two from McFarlane Toys would surely get my wallet open, silly concept or not. Sold together, the clear CQB Spartan
is joined by the not-so-clear Spartan Soldier EVA "HellSpartan"...basically Spawn-painted Spartan armor. Considering Spawn has been everything from anime to commando to samurai to refridgerator repairman, this really isn't that far a stretch. Right now it looks like some hobbyist kitbashed the thing together, though I am sure it will look lovely sealed in its little, limited-edition package. I'm going to just start sending McWhertor money now, build up a fund so he can grab me one of everything when he stops by this July.
