Looking quite forward to this one. If you don't knwo who sir Henry Mother F***er is, you probably didi not see the real ending of the original No More Heroes. While the Kotaku tower hamsters fix the prbolem, here is the video. #nomoreheroes2
@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: It's a robot arm. A cybernetic arm. A cyborg arm. Some kind of mechanical arm. That was explained in some related text to the first game or something.
@howmuchbetter000: I know about all that, but Japanese games don't like to retcon unless it's through "official" means, which makes me believe they'll address it in-game at some point ofrother. #nomoreheroes2
@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: Well, it's NMH. They do't have to explain ANYTHING. Didn't you beat the first one? Shinobu saves your butt at the end and she has her arm reatached. They didn't explain it then, so it'd be a plus if they explained it now.
The new character art has her wearing a glove of sorts, in what could be a nod to Return of the Jedi. #nomoreheroes2
@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: Did they explain the magic motorcicle whit infinite gas? did they explain the fucking laser katana? Did they explain how most of the bosses weapon's work?
Dude, you are playing no more heroes, a game which makes absolutely no sense, if they can make laser katanas, they can do a bionic arm.
@howmuchbetter000: Did you see the true ending to No More Heroes. Did they make any attempt to explain what the hell Silvia and *Name Omitted* were doing looking at that portrait at the end? No, the game reveled in the fact that it made no fucking sense, and I love it for that fact. #nomoreheroes2
@Brian Crecente: "This video has reached its monthly embedded playback limit", so we won't find out until November? Or is it a problem at my end? #nomoreheroes2
Sora looks like a total badass with Cloud's Buster Sword...
And this is why JRPGs do not interest me anymore. What the hell happened to good character design? Godamn, the 16 bit era had better characters than most of the stuff thats come out in the last 15 years! #arcrisefantasia
I am so tired of Ignition entertainment poaching XSEED's licenses and doing SHITTY localizations.
I was looking forward to this game, but now it's going to the bottom of my list. I had to enjoy Muramasa IN SPITE of that horrible translation - and knowing damn well that I got that because they don't pay a translation staff of their own, they just swiped XSEED's first pass on the script and passed it off as "done".
Also, it is absolutely not true that XSEED "dropped" Muramasa. Ignition went to Marvelous, poached the license, and XSEED was forced to publicly announce they dropped the game so Ignition could claim they "saved" it.
Spread the word by the way - they won't admit it in public (Ignition nor XSEED due to legal issues), but anyone who knows what went down in the background absolutely despises Ignition for their horrible business practices. #arcrisefantasia
Now THAT is what I've been talking about. That looks beautiful. Not for a Wii game, but for a video game. Like I said, if the GC could look nice, the Wii certainly can too.
@Hey_Blinkon: Yeah, this has really impressed me. After seeing screenshots of Epic Mickey in GameInformer, I was pretty disappointed with the Wii, but these shots have turned me right around.
Granted, graphics aren't even half the battle. Some of the most visually impressive games have left me completely bored, and it seems to happen with increasing frequency these days. While I enjoyed Imageepoch's Luminous Arc, I often have a much softer spot for Tactical RPGs than traditional ones. #arcrisefantasia
@Xagest: I totally got the "this is actually kingdom hearts in disguise" feeling when i saw the character. i had to do a double take at the weapon as well. #arcrisefantasia
@LllusionX Mailed the Fission: hay, when carrying something that big, the only realistic way to do it is on your back or sholder. not that jrpgs are known for realisim #arcrisefantasia
Is this by the same people who did Eternal Sonata? The font and overall status display on the combat screens looks very familiar. For me, that's a turn-off. Your mileage may vary.
@IronMan: YEAH, HOW DARE YOU TRY TO WORK WITHIN YOUR MEANS YOU SMALLER DEVELOPERS. YOU SHOULD WASTE TONS OF MONEY ON DEVELOPING FOR A SYSTEM THAT WON'T GIVE YOU ANY EXTRA SALES AND WILL BANKRUPT YOU.
Some developers can't generate the amount of money needed for your so-called non "POS" systems. Get over it.
And clearly the Wii isn't a "POS" if it has a game that is great that you would like to play. #arcrisefantasia
@IronMan: While I don't share your blind hatred toward the Wii, I do wish that they would go multi-plat. No reason why this couldn't work for a PSN release.
I will probably give in at some point when there is another RPG drought on the PS3. Just hope that they didn't force the waggle into this one, or at least give us a bypass option. It would give me a reason other than the next Zelda and Metroid to turn on my Wii. #arcrisefantasia
@excel_excel: In IronMans defense he does have a point. These games do not sell well on the wii. It's be relegated to Casual Gamer status and doesn't seem to be finding any love from 120+ Million audience that the PS2 catered to.
In all honest a game like this will not cost more to develop for the PS3 or the X360 for that matter especially a game like Muramasa.
Only time the costs sky rocket on PS3 and X360 is when you're trying to build games that are DMC4 level visually or higher.
When I look at the wii I don't see a game system for me and many gamers have grabed a PS3 and an X360, but not a wii... why is that? Is it availability? Clearly that isn't the case now cause I can walk into any store and by one. Is it the cost of the machine? Possibly for what the wii can do and how much we can get an X360 or a PS3 for it certainly is over priced by comparison. For the limited selection of games.
Some people also stick with one system an entire generation which gamers seem to fail to understand. Personally if I wasn't such a hardcore gamer myself I would only own one of the systems this generation too. Alot of those gamers are buying PS3's and X360's not Wii's. The Wii's hard to acquire status has made it hard to understand the purchase as the interest in the machine has wained and was forced to endure bad press and bad mouthing.
To be honest I'd rather this game be on the PS3 myself. Wii controls don't translate well to traditional RPG's. That brick of a controller certainly isn't comfortable by any stretch of the imagination. Knowing they could spend a little more to bring it up to PS3 or X360 quality like Resonance of Fate or Final Fantasy XIII or even Lost Odyssey (ya it looks better), I'd personally would desire they took the extra effort in producing a truly next GEN RPG then screwing around with a mere upgrade of the PS2 style. This generations games should not look like God of War 2 in the God of War Collection, they should surpass it. #arcrisefantasia
@KazeEternal: No he has no point. Games should be developed for the Wii. Such as games should be developed for PS3 and 360 and PC. end of fucking story.
That 'brick' of a controller fits into hands. And yes it is comfortable! #arcrisefantasia
@excel_excel: Releasing this on the PSN wouldn't lose them money, if that's where you are going with this. In fact, they could sell it cheaper while making the same amount of money since they wouldn't have to print on physical media. All while not over or underprinting the physical media.
The Wii really isn't the ideal place for JRPGs this gen, just as the Gamecube wasn't last. Yes, the Wii has the larger marketshare. But their market is dominantly casual. It seems that companies prefer pie charts and graphs to preferences and behaviors.
Don't get me wrong, I own two Wiis and two PS3s(one of each for the kids), but I prefer my RPGs on a Sony product. Like I said, I will probably buy this game in the long run. I think that 2010 will be a testament to where JRPG fans want their JRPGs. Watch the PS3 sales of these during the next year compared to JRPGs on other consoles:
@LokeSTL: I..... Okay your explained yourself well. still theres nothing wrong with exclusive titles. Its what makes us buy consoles in the first place. And I will probably be buying all those you mentioned. #arcrisefantasia
@KazeEternal: "These games do not sell well on the wii."
See, here's my problem with this argument: there is not enough substantial evidence to back this up.
How many quality jRPGs are there on the Wii? How many RPGs in general exist for the console? 6? 7? Is it fair to judge an entire market based on the perceived failure of B or C-grade level titles (Tales 2, Kizuna)? Furthermore, why is the implication that consumers should buy most ANYTHING in order to "prove" the market exists?
Apparently, developers and publishers worrying about the "hardcore" or "mature" sector of the Wii audience are doing so because of the sales of games like MadWorld and The Conduit. Why is the onus on unproven titles (and in the latter's case, an unproven developer) that have known issues (length, mediocre single-player, etc.)?
But, I think the real reason that games like these do not sell on the Wii is because very few, if any, top-tier developers and publishers want to create games for it. Thus, they do not sell because they hardly exist.
I do not blame them for that. A lot of devs like having all of that power to try new stuff, and there is a lot of competition in creating games for the 360/PS3 that pushes them to outdo one another.
However, I wish more devs and publishers would just come out and say that. At least then I could respect them for their honesty rather than being fed BS about "tests" and lip-service levels of support.
P.S. - It will be interesting to see the sales of ARF, Tales of Graces, Samurai Warriors 3, Sengoku Basara 3, Monster Hunter 3 (in the US), TvC (in the US), No More Heroes 2 (mostly in the US, first was a bomb in Japan), and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. And this is assuming the games are even advertised in the US and Europe.
@excel_excel: That is true. If it weren't for exclusive titles, I wouldn't own 2 consoles. I've had a hard time keeping myself from a 360 purchase until I saw 2010's PS3 JRPG release slate forming. I am going to have to borrow my nephews 360 for Sakaguchi's offerings at the very least.
I don't get as much play out of my Wii(that's what she said), but I'm always excited to get the next Zelda or Metroid and the occasional VC game that I played the crap out of as a kid. #arcrisefantasia
