@LinetteLaodamas: Actually, a lot of Japanese players are using the TE stick now. Nobody ever thought that MadCatz would the company to actually put enough pressure on HORI to make them step up their game. HORI, who has largely neglected the American market, is now releasing some of their hard-to-find premium sticks in America in response to the the sleek and easy-to-mod FightStick.
To wit; yes. MadCatz's sticks are pretty much up to par with HORI's sticks. Past some minor differences, it all depends on your preference.
@LinetteLaodamas: There are some quite distinguishable features between the two such as the standard HRAP3 having dedicated L3+R3 buttons, PS2 game support on the PS3 (thanks to a previous firmware patch), and the fully splayed button layout.
On the other hand the TE Fightstick has the USB cable storage compartment (very useful for transportation), Sanwa joystick AND buttons, and the semi-splayed button layout (arcade-perfect of the Viewlix machines). Hopefully a patch is released sometime in the near future for PS2 game support.
Personally I think the build quality (plastics) of the HRAP3 is better than the TE Fightstick, but the TE Fightstick is easier to modify.
Amazon is releasing the HRAP3 SA which features the HRAP3 fully decked out in white Sanwa parts on Oct 19 for $120. When compared to the $130 TE Fightstick (Amazon price) you may find yourself in a tough situation deciding between the two.
bad idea bad idea bad idea. SANWA parts were never made for the fervent behaviour associated with marvel. if most people play marvel as badly as they play street fighter IV then these sticks will break at least 3 times faster, like a char's custom
@epy0nkaru: the even funnier thing is when you have all these shoryuken elitist pricks that think because they have SANWA parts in their ugly custom stick, that somehow makes them superior players. then they get beatdown by somebody using an X-Arcade or Mad Catz stick and start blaming the poorly balanced gameplay as the reason why.
@The Swearing Gramps: No, it wasn't. At all. Most people just picked War Machine with Psylocke or Colossus as an assist.
As a matter of fact, no VS game was ever well balanced. XMvSF and TvC are a straight up lol-mess, and MSHvSF has more shenanigans than a Three Stooges short.
@wtf_G: That's only because MvC2 requires a ton of mashing and people generally beat the piss out of their sticks, so they just use cheap happ buttons.
@Mpalm_:
God you're unamerican. Hating Happ? Are you a weaboo? Happ is better then Sanwa/Seimetsu when it comes to the MvC series for the sheer fact that the stick and buttons can take a beating and still play. Plus that small gate isn't going to help shit when it comes to the insane combos of MvC2. You need a full 360 movement for this. Which Sanwa does NOT provide with their square gate.

The Swearing Gramps Doesn't Give A Shit was unstarred
@Mpalm_: Don't get me wrong, I personally prefer Hori over Happ, but MVC2 is very much an American game, and every arcade machine I've ever encountered has always been full Happ parts.
While they maybe right that Mad Catz can produce fighting sticks that deliver performance and authenticity, it would be nice if they would also produce more of them in a timely fashion. It only took them 3 months after SF4 to manufacture enough fighting pads, and the fight sticks were near impossible to find.
So yeah, making the sticks more plentiful would be my suggestion. Performance doesn't mean a thing if I can't buy one.
Where's MarkMan when you need him? Are all of the parts identical to the SFIV TE sticks? If so, just get a digital copy of the art and a few new buttons/balltop... :p
The parts are the same except the color (obviously)... but the button layout is different and caters to the default layout of MVC2 for both consoles.
If we had more time prior to the release of the game, you know damn well we'd try to make a HAPP/iL version of the stick. Just have some wishful thinking for future products though ;)
So wait, I don't have to go through hours of meaningless, boring, single player fights where the AI is cheap and annoying to fight in order to unlock the characters I want to play in multiplayer? Sign me up!
I fully support this. Who wants to unlock all the same stuff we already unlocked 10 years ago, when all we really want to do is play the game with some friends?

I'm signed up for the guest list, but damn. Did not see this coming.
Any Kotaku editors showing up tonight? #superstreetfighteriv

Top players play on Happ/iL because that's what they learned on in the arcade, but there's no reason why you can't learn on a Sanwa.
One top player (fanatiq) plays on a DC controller, so no excuses

But MvC2 DOES have poorly balanced gameplay. The original one was far more balanced.
