Dexter Game Coming To iPhones

Well this certainly explains why Showtime Networks and Mark Ecko Entertainment were so reluctant to announce a platform when they revealed the game based off the forensic scientist / serial killer show Dexter. At a Comic-Con panel discussing the show, Mark Ecko himself appeared to drop details on the upcoming title, which as it turns out will be an episodic affair appearing exclusively on the iPhone and iPod Touch - not exactly what we were expecting, but considering the quality of some of the early iPhone game offerings still a rather intriguing prospect.

While no gameplay was shown, Ecko revealed that the game would feature touch screen gesture controls, as well as incorporating text messages and phone calls in order to heighten the sense of immersion.

Dexter's Murderous, Forensic Fun Comes To Consoles

The Showtime television drama based on author Jeff Lindsay's forensic scientist by day, serial killer by night series of novels Dexter is getting its own video game, IGN reports. Showtime Networks and Marc Ecko Entertainment are said to have partnered to bring the bloody, award-winning show to unspecified platforms at an unspecified date.

Yes, details are scarce, but the folks who brought you Mark Ecko's Getting Up are apparently working closely with Showtime to get it right. We just hope it turns out better than all that CSI dreck Ubisoft keeps shoveling out.

Ecko Getting Up On Revolution?

Is Marc Ecko's Getting Up coming to the Nintendo Revolution? This GameDaily interview with the fashion designer turned video game producer seems to suggest so. Marc and Atari are currently doing their "due diligence" with testing the console, but, like most developers, I'll bet, he's cautious about porting his game. With the alleged underwhelming technical specifications for the console and its unique interface, Marc worries that it "almost sets ourselves up for needing a separate SKU". More »

Ecko's Theories on Getting Up's Sales

Is blaming your game's slowish sales on some gamers "having a bug up their ass for anything urban" playing the race card? Ecko does in an interview for the Metro. Though, Ecko also intelligently points out that it is also the end of a console cycle and gamers aren't spending the money on current-gen games that they once did. Ecko raises an interesting point, however. Are gamers averse to "urban" games? Like the reader who sent in the tip pointed out - Ecko must've missed the sales figures for 50 Cent's Bulletproof. Ecko Banned in Australia

Atari's Mark Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure was refused a rating from the Australian version of the U.S.'s ESRB. The Office of Film & Literature Classification granted Contents a 15+ rating back in November, but now that they've had time to think about it - they've decided the game promotes crime via graffiti. Sheesh, it's tough down under. More »
