@Manly_McBeeferton: Note that all the games shown are games that have been reviewed. I don't think any Pokemon games this year have been reviewed by Kotaku, hence their absence. There have really only been two this year, though, and those two are the inevitable third version upgrades to previously available games.

Why include the Domo-kun games if you guys hated them? Isn't the purpose of a gift guide to list all the good gifts? I know it was more than likely a joke entry on the guide, but come on. Oh, and how many guides do you wager Bakugan will show up on? ;)

@Brian Crecente: I can understand where you are coming from, it is just most people see a gift guide as basically a list of "must have" items. I mean, for example, this has to be the first ever gift guide I read that had a "negative" gift on it.

FE : Shadow Dragon is on there? Games released in 2009 is the cut off? Then I have a suggestion. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor - A really REALLY good JRPG tactics game. And I sort of hate most JRPGs.

@(Zombie) Goldwings: There's really no excuse for it at all. A new game deserves to be 99% new content, the 1% being basics borrowed from past games. In reality though, I'm going to guess that 1% I mentioned is more like, say 5-10% with most games, but oh well. Still no excuse to recycle levels, in my opinion.

Is Mario being in the game only .5% of the content? Does the fact that the core game is still Mario flying around different planetoids another 6.7%?

Wouldn't have mattered if they were all recycled anyway. I'd wager that almost no one on Kotaku or anywhere that'd ever notice actually bought the last Mario vs DK or even the first one (which is the best one).

I seriously hated the first MvDK. It was an EXTREMELY dull clone of DK'94. I had to force myself to trudge through the game. I didn't even bother with the extra challenge stages.

MvDK2, however, I liked. I don't see much point in getting this, though.

Ironic, since Nintendo has gone the exact opposite route with hardware. Maybe they should place a warning on the Wii box, "We will continue to release strange new peripherals every 6-8 months that will serve novel purposes and generally run you $50-80 each time."

I will redact this statement only in regards to the WiiMotionPlus, and that alone.

@ShoopDaBoofs: With the exception of the Balance Board (with came packed with a game), name one Wii peripheral that actually falls within your $50-80.

Oh, and the first rule is it has to be first party. So you don't get to count the Guitar Hero, Rock Revolution or Rock Band instruments.
