Game Life is reporting that like it's Japanese Counterpart, the US version of Professor Layton contains a password entry screen that can only be unlocked by playing the game's sequel. The game manual states that the secret password "will be revealed in the sequel."

Of course we have certainly been promised games before that never materialized, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for this one. I've played a little bit of the Japanese version and was absolutely enthralled until I couldn't get any further due to my ignorance of the language. As soon as I can finish all this writing today you can bet I'll be diving into the US version and the prospect of a sequel leaves me dancing a mad jig.

<![CDATA[No More Heroes Manual Looks Better Than Some Games]]> Who out there reads instruction manuals? Show of hands. None? That's what we thought. Video game manuals are generally:

1. Boring
2. Not super clear
3. Nor concise
4. Dull
5. Synonym of dull

But this No More Heroes manual is modeled after a comic book and looks to lack Wiimote sketches altogether. Why not take a risk on the manual? It's not like you are going to disappoint anyone if the idea's a miss. Of course, if it is fantastic, chances are that no one will notice then, either.

Marvelous! No More Heroes has a comic book manual

<![CDATA[PS3 Game Manual Mentions Non-Existent Vibration]]>

Ah, young console love. Such exuberance, such openness, such heartfelt loyalty and wide-eyed devotion. A Playstation 3 owner spotted this interesting typo in the NBA 2K7 instruction booklet for the Playstation 3. As you can see, it mentions the now missing vibration feature. But what was likely a simple mistake has sparked a raging debate over on the official Playstation forums about whether the controller initially was going to have vibration, is soon getting vibration or if 2K just used the 360 manual text.

My money is on a straight-up typo, or perhaps a developer's wishful thinking.

NBA 2K7 FOR PS3 MENTIONS VIBRATION!!!!!

<![CDATA[PSP 3.00 Software Manual Online, New Features Explained]]> Sony has updated the current PSP software manual to be inline with the forthcoming 3.00 system update, due... sometime soon.

The update will provide support for Downloading PLAYSTATION Network titles and then, of course, starting them. You can see in the Starting a PLAYSTATION Network title that you can choose from four button configurations (nice?) and view digital versions of the game's instruction manual (nice!).

Details on PlayStation 3 Remote Play via the PSP are also available for your study, under Operating the PS3 system.

A handful of other cool features, including turning off UMD Auto Start and Timer settings for RSS channels are detailed. Less cool? Certificates (aka inevitable but un-fun DRM) for PlayStation Network titles and needing a PS3 to connect to the PlayStation Store for your PSone downloads.

<![CDATA[PlayStation 3 Manuals Online]]>

With just eight days to go before some 400,000 of us are settling down for a day of next-gen PlayStation gaming, eBay listing, and/or factory fresh electronics box huffing, its time to start studying. If you don't show expert level familiarity with the XMB, which Sony seriously says stands for Xross Media Bar, you're going to be the laughing stock of the neighborhood.

Lucky for you, Sony's got your back. They've finally finished posting the full PlayStation 3 manual online. From Music to Photos to Internet Browser, the full details of the PS3 interface are yours for the perusing.

With so much to read, I know what I'll be doing tonight. (Drinking.)

Thanks for the heads up, Omlette!

<![CDATA[Gears of War Collector's Edition Booklet Scans]]>

Although Gears of War won't be available until November, when Microsoft hopes it will deliver a hay maker straight to the crotch of Sony's Playstation 3 launch, the cheese sniffers over at XBoxygen somehow managed to get their escargot begreased hands on Gears of War's Collector's Edition booklet, and there's a lot of beautiful art, enemies, weapons and details to oggle. There's no word yet on whether or not the booklet is limited to the Collector's Edition, or if it will also be available to you cheap plebs.
