From the family in the background to the registration watermark, the objectivity with which Zachary Garrison reviews the new WoW Mana Energy Potion in the face of oft-wannabe YouTubers is completely charming, even to our cold, cold hearts that pump the salty-delicious tears of children through our veins in lieu of more traditional blood.

<![CDATA[ NIS Brings Gust's Mana Khemia Stateside ]]> NIS America continues it's tradition of taking quirky Japanese PS2 titles that traditionally stay in Japan and delivering them to the starving JRPG fans here in the states with Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis. Developed by Gust, it's the spiritual successor to the Atelier Iris series, with alchemy and crafting elements, only this game is set in a school where the player completes class assignments in place of quests. While the Atelier Iris series in the U.S. went from completely amazing to cute but bland over the course of three titles, Gust's Ar Tonelico was probably my favorite RPG experience of 2007, so I have faith that the company can still deliver something truly amazing. Look for Mana Kemia to hit stores on March 18th, and hit up RPGLand for a slew of screenshots brimming with disembodied teddybear head goodness.

<![CDATA[ Week in Games: Madden '08 Edition ]]> Lots of new titles this week, but for me nothing really holds much appeal. I might be tempted to check out Heroes of Mana if my wallet wasn't so empty. Guess I'll just have to wait for BioShock next week. Oh well, back to Resistance for more training...

Madden NFL 08 (X360, PSP, PS3, WII, PS2, MAC, GC, PC, XBOX, DS)
Crack open a brewski and invite the boys over for a few rounds.

Heroes of Mana (DS)
More Mana, more better.

Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon (DS)
As if the regular Harvest Moon wasn't fantasy enough

Luminous Arc (DS)
An RPG with witches, mages and fighters. Imagine that.

Dungeons & Dragons Tactics (PSP)
Be an uber nerd on your PSP. Unfortunately there are no twenty sided die to make you really feel at home.

Fatal Fury: Battle Archives Volume 1 (PS2)
Fatal Fury 1-3 plus Fatal Fury Special all on one disc.

Operation: Vietnam (DS)
It brings the excitement of war torn Vietnam to you DS!

1914 Shells of Fury (PC)
The world's first WWI Submarine sim.

Billy the Wizard: Rocket Broomstick Racing (WII)
They may as well have called him Gary Dotter.

<![CDATA[ Gallery: Heroes of Mana ]]> Square Enix's RTS entry into the Mana series, Heroes of Mana for the DS will have to suck incredibly badly to be any worse than the recent PS2 title Dawn of Mana, which is one of the most abysmal things I've seen out of Squeenix since Unlimited Saga. Note that both games were very pretty...they've got pretty down to a science, as you can see below. As a lover of the strategy RPG genre and the Mana series as a whole I really hope developer Brownie Brown manages to help me heal my DoM wounds when Heroes hits in August.

<![CDATA[ Week in Games: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Edition ]]> potcawe.jpg

It's a mixed bag of titles this week. We have a movie franchise game, a new RPG, the re-emergence of a classic, a comic card game, mechs, a high school sim and even the simple crossword puzzle. Not a whole lot that's of too much interest to me although I kind of want to see the Pirates game just because those character models are stunning. Anything here you'll be picking up?

<![CDATA[ Mana Coming This Summer ]]> heroesofmanalogo.jpg

Good news, North Americans! Square Enix's real-time strategy RPG Seiken Densetsu: Heroes of Mana will hit stores late summer. Bad news: Wi-Fi battles are a no-go. While it is possible to go proxy with a nearby buddy, the Wi-Fi is actually used to submit scores to a ranking board for weekly missions. That's pretty neat, for like, the 20th century.

<![CDATA[ Square Enix Giving PS3s To Japanese People ]]>

Individuals registered in "Square Enix members" (think Club Nintendo, but mopey) have a shot at winning one of thirty 60GB PLAYSTATION 3s. Just buy Square titles put on sale this month and enter the PS3 raffle. This month, three titles are on sale: Seiken Densetsu, Front Mission 1st and Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. In each package, there's a member's point card. So buying all them of them increases your odds at winning a PS3. Kinda expensive, but still way cheaper than a 60GB PS3.
